The U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee (USOPC) announced Thursday that it won’t sanction athletes who raise a fist or take a knee on the medal stand at the Tokyo Games in 2021. USOPC said on Dec. 10 that it agreed with the calls from American athletes that asked the committee to change the rule prohibiting inside-the-lines protests at the Olympic Games, according to ESPN.

Cancel their funding. If you're ashamed of the United States, you shouldn't be representing it.

I quit watching when they started allowing professionals to compete. This just adds to the reason to keep up my boycott.

What's going to be fun is when White People take a knee anywhere the so-called black anthem is played.
And there will be nothing the marxists can do about it.

Home grown anti-America thugs taking their "protests" international. Maybe socialist dictators will invite these malcontents to come and live in their countries.

#2, I stopped watching the Olympics a few years ago too. Same for the NFL, NBA, and now college football.
But I am definitely not "boycotting" them. A boycott indicates a temporary change. No, they have all permanently lost me. There is nothing that any of them could do that could make me want to watch another second of their broadcasts, and certainly never get me to another live event.
And I can honestly say that I don't miss any of them in the least. If I want to watch sports at it's purest, I just go catch kids and high school teenagers, who play sports for the love of the game. They haven't had the chance to become "woke" or jaded yet!!!

Sounds like coercion. Like they will dare them not to protest. If a black person puts his hand over his heart and salutes America and our flag, he will probably be ostracized in the sports and political world.

Time to rescind the special status of the US Olympic Committee. Let the professionals pay their own way. And let the USOC's many commercial sponsors know your views. They have broken trust with the public.

Coke, Pepsi, and every other sponsor of the U.S. Olympic team better get ready for a huge decrease in sales as result of this. In addition, I'd better not see one commercial with U.S. flags waving and some BS U.S pride theme from any sponsor regarding the Olympics.

I think teams that plan to take a knee should not be allowed to REPRESENT the U.S. If they detest our flag and Anthem that much, No Red, White and Blue uniforms, no American Flags. They are representing THEMSELVES. No funding from Americans. None!

That is a political statement. I will not watch political statements, or political messaging, at any sporting event. Sporting events are an opportunity to lay aside our differences, socialize, recognize that everyone is in the end a human being. Instead, what we are having is introduction of division into our sports. Many people are not going, and turning it off. Sports was started by towns to meet with and socialize with neighboring towns. It was not started to create hate and animosities between our citizens, which is what the Olympic Committee here is allowing to happen. By the way, that committee reports to nobody, and nobody could name a single member.

As my kids' pediatrician used to say, once is habit, twice is routine. When everyone is doing it, the novelty and the meaning is lost (sort of like tattoos and purple hair). Usually someone protests hoping for a measurable change. I'm at a loss with this, unless it's to discourage people from watching, in which case they should succeed.

Let’s sarcastically apply leftist principles (I would have said logic, but that’s both inaccurate and based on Greek philosophy):
The olympics are racist, ableist, and support the capitalist power structure. The entire event is based on Western Greek culture. It rewards those born with physical privilege and access to superior healthcare, and it promotes that privilege as winning.
As a matter of fact, you know who held the olympics once? Hitler.
And look at the medals:
Gold is for the first place
Silver is for 2nd place
And who comes in 3rd? Bronze.
The 5 rings? They remind one of shackles or handcuffs.
Now I’m no Doctor Biden, but all of that is proof we should divest our interest in this celebration of hate.
Side note: it is actually amazing how easy it is to generate this drivel. I wrote this all in 2 minutes, but people get PhDs and scholarships based on the same level of effort.

Where would they prefer to live? I'd be happy to give them a one-way ticket, send them off to their preferred home. Take their passports, cancel their rights and privileges as citizen of the USA.
At the least, the government should have no further investment in these organizations. Too bad for the good kids struggling to make it. Just tell them, their America-hating teammates are to blame.

Its a shame, I worked two Olympics (Sarajevo and Barcelona) in the broadcast center and was impressed as much with the professionalism of my coworkers as the the Athletes - the opening day ceremonies as the Athletes parade in their national uniforms was always one of my favorite bits!
(and the only sport I was ever interested in is the Bi-Athlon (what a great sport, hump your way cross country in ski's then plop down and try to hit targets with a .22 - rinse and repeat!)

And how about a "middle-finger display" when the "black" anthem is played? If you cannot support AMERICA's anthem, I can't support YOU. ALSO, NO MORE DONATIONS to the Olympic Committee for as long as the racist crap continues.

One more link of the dividing of America? And the snow sports are watchable. But all too slow paced compared watching reruns of breaking bad and getting an idea about our southern border gaps.
I am glad I do not own anything anybody wants.
