This is one of those stories that’s so good that you have to double check it’s not parody.
The talk of the stock market right now involves GameStop (among other stocks) and a group of Reddit users that decided to play Wall Street’s own game against them. If you don’t understand stock trades, it can be a bit in the weeds, but the general idea is simple. A bunch of hedge fund managers shorted stock trying to make money. In response, a group of Reddit users banded together to legally buy up those stocks and squeeze the short. This has some hedge funds in dire financial straits because there’s insufficient money

From the left’s standpoint, claims that the 2020 presidential election — which was marred by millions of unsolicited mail-in ballots sent out because of the pandemic — was stolen is a “big lie,” insisting there is “no evidence” to support the assertion.Never mind that three out of four Republicans with eyes that can see believe it to be true — an anomaly dismissed as just a bunch of rubes being manipulated by former President Donald Trump. This being the same cabal that insists conservatives are not being censored by Big Tech. No, it’s just more conspiracy-mongering on the right.

It’s not really clear what people were expecting in terms of transparency within the new Biden administration. But if we go by the “expertise” of current White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki, people will have more questions than answers for the next four years. In what has already become a noticeable trend, Psaki seems to use the same phrase — “circle back” — over and over when being asked questions about what President Joe Biden and his administration are doing, among other questions.Psaki has basically become a walking meme at this point, and we’re only one week into the new presidency.Take a look: (Video)

One of the most favorite past times of official Washington (and the establishment media) in between presidential elections is guessing who will be the leading candidates for the various political parties the next time Americans go to the polls.Since Joe Biden allegedly ‘won’ the 2020 race, it’s easy to predict who will lead the Democratic ticket in 2024 — Vice President Kamala Harris (you read it here first). But what about the Republican ticket? Who is already a “frontrunner” barely a week into Biden’s presidency? A new survey gives us some insight. The Daily Wire notes:Morning Consult and Politico surveyed 595 Republicans between January 8 and 11 —

For four years, we were informed by our establishment media that President Donald Trump's behavior was "not normal." The abnormality of Trump's behavior became a near rallying cry for the self-appointed heroes of journalism, who spent every waking hour poring over his bizarre tweets and his bloviating self-absorption. The media dedicated themselves to preventing Trump's supposed normalization.
Now, the media inform us, we have been graced by the most normal normal person to have ever normalled: President Joe Biden. Biden, they proclaim, is utterly boring, nondescript, barely worthy of coverage.

A couple weeks ago I wrote about the meltdown at Politico over Ben Shapiro being allowed to write for the magazine’s newsletter. Yesterday, Ed wrote a follow-up piece noting that more than 100 staffers at the site were still so angry weeks later that they had written a letter to publisher Robert Allbritton to express their displeasure. It was ultimately too late for the staffers to cancel Ben Shapiro’s appearance, that already happened. But yesterday Shapiro pointed out on Twitter that in the wake of this blowup, Politico suddenly canceled plans to have Guy Benson and Mary Katherine Ham co-write the newsletter.

Mets owner Steve Cohen’s attempt to bail out a former business protege’s investment firm has some fans worried.
Cohen joined forces this week with fellow finance tycoon Ken Griffin to save hedge fund Melvin Capital from some troubled investments, including bets against GameStop.
Melvin was reportedly down 30 percent as rookie investors who frequent stock message boards like Reddit helped push up shares of the video game retailer — putting pressure on Melvin’s bet that the stock would fall, known as a “short.”
Cohen’s Point72 Asset Management and Griffin’s firm Citadel gave Melvin a combined $2.75 billion investment on Monday to help it through the market turmoil.

WASHINGTON — When the Biden administration held its first coronavirus briefing Wednesday, there were no cameos from the president, no speakers behind the White House podium jousting with reporters, and no data coming from outside the federal agencies involved in the pandemic response. And in a sign of the awareness of the risks of putting people in a room together, the briefing wasn't even held in person, which brought its own problem of technical glitches. Cruise missiles—low-flying, precision-guided warhead delivery systems—revolutionized military strategy with their debut on the battlefield in the decades after World War II. But with a new administration in Washington, the Air Force is stepping up its case for adopting what it calls a long-range standoff weapon to replace the aging air-launched cruise missile in order to maintain the strategic bomber leg of the nuclear triad. It’s not just another weapons contract. Pentagon officials worry that all three legs of the classic nuclear triad, whether launched on land, underwater or in the skies, are showing serious signs of wear and tear.

One of the big sea changes in the Trump administration for conservative media came at White House press conferences.
President Trump and his people opened up the press conferences from the narrow confines of the White House Correspondents Association and the mainstream media to a range of conservative media. That infuriated the media and the Biden White House is predictably signaling that will come to an end. Democrats and their media define "disinformation" as anything they disagree with. President Joe Biden told Americans on Tuesday that they had “never fully lived up to the founding principles of this nation.”
Biden was speaking at the White House on the occasion of signing four executive orders that, he claimed, would address racial “equity.”With Vice President Kamala Harris — the country’s first African and Asian American woman in that role — looking on, Biden said: We have never fully lived up to the founding principles of this nation, to state the obvious, that all people are created equal and have a right to be treated equally throughout their lives. President Biden's plan to replace the government’s fleet of 650,000 cars and trucks with electric vehicles assembled in the U.S. by union workers is easier said than done. Why it matters: The populist "Buy American" message sounds good, but the vehicles Biden wants are still several years away and his purchase criteria would require an expensive overhaul of automakers' manufacturing strategies, not to mention a reversal of fortune for labor organizers long stymied by Tesla and other non-union companies. Reality check: Right now, not a single model fits the president's criteria: battery-powered, made in America, by union workers. Tesla produce

The Justice Department said it was concerned that the Pennsylvania woman accused of stealing House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s laptop during the US Capitol riots might be destroying evidence—and encouraging others to do so.
Lawyers for the department said during a hearing Monday they believe Riley Williams changed her phone number and deleted her Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Reddit, Telegram and Parler accounts, CBS Pittsburgh reported. Williams, 22, was arrested on Jan. 18 after her former romantic partner accused her of taking a laptop or hard drive from Pelosi’s office with the intention of selling it to the Russians, authorities have said.

U.S. intelligence findings recently declassified by the State Department provide fresh evidence for the theory that the COVID-19 pandemic likely began at the Wuhan Institute of Virology, China’s sole high-security laboratory that has links to the country’s military. The department, in a report made public this month by the outgoing Trump administration, disclosed for the first time that several workers at the Wuhan institute, where research on deadly viruses is conducted, were sickened in the autumn of 2019 with COVID-19-like symptoms. The report also made public U.S. intelligence that the People’s Liberation Army conducted secret research on covert biological warfare

One of the hottest topics in Illinois government in the aftermath of the recent lame-duck legislative session is the massive criminal-justice package that’s thrilled some and outraged others.
The rhetoric has been dominated by either generic comments of support or disdain. (Snip) It’s also important to remember that when a case is over, no matter its outcome, 10 percent of any bond returned to a defendant is kept by the county to fund the criminal-justice system.

The Democrats are racing ahead with their third effort to impeach former President Donald Trump. Democrat House Speaker Nancy Pelosi sent the impeachment articles to the Senate on Tuesday, and the now evenly split Senate will take it up on Feb. 8. It’s a waste of time and taxpayer money for one simple reason: It’s not even legal.
No, that’s not a mere assertion or our opinion. It’s based on the only document we know that guides how impeachments should take place. It’s called the Constitution.
We still live in a constitutional republic, which means we are bound by its laws.

We have long suspected that the left would use the COVID-19 pandemic as an excuse to take greater control over people’s lives, whether or not it helped fight the disease. The evidence appears to support this.
Wallethub has been ranking states based on their COVID-19 restrictions – things such as mask mandates, limits on travel and gatherings, school closings, liability protections, work-at-home requirements.
The nearby table lists the 10 states with the most and least restrictions in place as of Jan. 25.

I’m feeling that the possibility of the title above will truly happen. I’m almost as sure of this as that Joe Biden is going to say something really dumb in front of a T.V. camera and the press will excuse it away as some sort of mindless brilliance.
I have written here before that Donald Trump would actually become a bit of a tour de force if he so chooses in his post Presidency life. So far, almost a week into this new phase for him, he is right on track to start using his massive influence on the political scene with the announcement of ‘Office of Former President’.

Now that Joe Biden is in the White House, Democrats are once again on the march, this time to put abolitionist Harriet Tubman on the $20 bill. They don’t actually know very much about Harriet Tubman, but she was Black, and Democrats desperately want to put somebody Black on our money. So here she comes.
I say they don’t know very much about Ms. Tubman because Democrats announced this on the same day that Democrats sent a procession of House Managers over to the Senate to deliver an Article of Impeachment against former President Trump. They are charging him with “inciting insurrection.”

On day one, Joe Biden signed an executive order to halt the construction of the pipeline meant to bring Candian crude oil safely and swiftly into the United States. Democrats gave the excuse that the project was being halted due to its adding to the climate crisis but there is still no evidence that the risk of leaks outweighs the damage done and oil lost during transportation.

Nearly every day of former President Donald Trump’s term, someone — either from the opposition party or from the Democrat-aligned media — called him some version of authoritarian. That was especially the case whenever Trump issued an executive order, many if not most of which were summarily challenged by left-wing groups in court, often successfully. It never made any sense to call a president whose executive orders were overturned and who eventually got kicked off of all social media a tyrant and a dictator since not too many tyrants and dictators throughout the history of Humankind had their orders contradicted

Stark County commissioners are getting dozens of complaints from people urging them to more thoroughly vet or block the Stark County Board of Elections' expected purchase of Dominion Voting Systems touchscreen machines and optical ballot scanners.
The company has been the target of baseless claims about the 2020 election, with many conservatives blaming it for Donald Trump's loss and alleging without evidence that its systems were easily manipulated. Dominion filed a $1.3 billion lawsuit Monday against Rudy Giuliani, who led the former president's efforts to spread the claims.

The fiasco involving the Democrats' misuse of the National Guard just keeps expanding.
According to the Washington Examiner's Tim Carney:
National Guard troops stationed at the Capitol famously have had to nap on the building's marble floors, but that's not the worst thing about their working conditions. The food is. The reason: The National Guard Bureau hired a food contractor to feed the troops, but the contractor simply messed up.
The fare, it turns out, was junk food, which one Guardsman's wife called "toddler snacks." One example, from Carney, whose story has all the miserable proof in the pictures:
