Well, we all knew it was coming.
Democrats have been salivating over the idea of making Washington DC a state for years. Why? Because they know Washington DC is a cesspool of radical Democrats and thus want to increase their majority with two more Senators and who knows how many Congressmen.
And today, Democrats have just introduced legislation in the Senate to make Washington DC the 51st state:

I think they need a constitutional amendment before they get away with this latest stunt.

If I am not mistaken 38 States would have to approve (ratify). I don't see It happening. And why would Senators want to water down their influence?

I'm curious. Why didn't they START with Puerto Rico? Seems to me that Puerto Rico would be easier. It just requires a majority vote in congress. Could it be that Puerto Rico doesn't guarantee treasoncrat senators?

I thought most Puerto Ricans did not want to become the 51st state. Maybe that has changed.
I never expected Biden and the Dems to work this fast to get their agenda started. There will be many people that will have huge regrets for voting for sleepy Joe.

The Republic of Texas approaches.
Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, S Dakota, N Dakota, Montana, Alberta (Canada), Saskatchewan (Canada), Manitoba (Canada), and a few states along the sides. Let's go EAST. Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida.
We have every warm water shipping port in The Gulf of Mexico and more oil than the Saudis ever dreamed of. California and New York can print their own money and if they want to trade they can go through Panama.
We WILL protect our borders ,north and south.
If you're coming to visit Texas bring your US passport with the pre-approved visitor's visa.
So now instead of 51 states you got 40. Fill your boots.

What does it matter? The voting machines are rigged, and we're OK with that.

The Democrats are playing a dangerous game. If the Republicans gain control of the Senate, they can start creating MANY new States, all Conservvative leaning. . Every time the Dems in the Senate play their games it backfires on them.

Ignore that constitution. Barack already told us that the Constitution is unconstitutional.
So it is constitutional? So what? Dems have the voting machines, they can set up the vote however they want, the vote they want is the vote they will get, stop complaining.
It does not matter what the People want. What matters is what Malignancy wants. Bai-Den Zhou has spoken, and his breath is law. D C is automatically a State.
Don't argue. A truck will roll over you. Already has.
Your right to protest ended Jan 20.
Your freedom to assemble, your freedom of religion, your freedom of the press, any freedom you thought you had, is gone. Forever.

#3 I seem to remember that PR was given statehood by the dems year ago, just requiring their own vote. They don't want to give up
Fed subsidies to do so.

biden executive orders, dems reconciliations. Remember when Lindsey Graham said we had better hope that the dems didn't gain total control? WELL HE WASN'T KIDDING. Even if a lot of their crap falls short some, somewhere, somehow is going to slip through and it is not going to be pretty.

Virginia gave up land so DC could be independent. Why not just give DC back to Virginia?

This would be unconstitutional - - if we still had a Constitution.

Congress can admit new states under the Constitution. But the Republicans can filibuster, unless Joe Manchin and Kristen Sinema change their minds.

If DC becomes a state, they can kiss off the large checks they are getting. Once you are a state, you fall in line with the other 50 states. Be careful what you ask for, you just might get it.

I believe that the Constitution doesn't allow this. Not that the communist/demosluts party cares about the Constitution, and apparently neither does the Supreme Court. The Constitution specifically states that the home of the federal government shall not reside in any state.

Why does anyone bother mentioning the Constitution anymore? Look who is in control of Congress and the WH. It means NOTHING to them. Look at what they have done to Trump. In the Left's minds due process doesn't exist. In about a year or so, the Dems won't even be mentioning the Constitution.
Soon LE will show up at your door only on the suspicions of a neighbor, NOT because you have done anything.

If DC wants Senate representation, give all but the Federal areas back to Maryland or Virginia. However who would want them? Without the Federal part of DC, it would just be a big welfare state and financial drain on who ever got stuck with the violent cesspool that is Washington DC.

The District of Columbia is not like Alaska or the Hawaiian Islands. It is unique among American cities because it was established by the Constitution of the United States to serve as the nation's capital. Const. Art. I, Sec. 8 provides that Congress has exclusive jurisdiction over such territory ceded to it by states and and accepted by Congress for purposes of a capital. That occurred on July 16, 1790 with a passage of Residence Act accepting the cession of the swamp land ceded by Virginia and Maryland as the national capital. Because part of that land was later unused, it was retroceded (given back) under the Organic Act of 1801. Attempting now to redefine the capital's boundaries to a few square blocks and convert (not retrocede) the rest of the federal enclave into a new state would be unconstitutional and would surely end up in the Supreme Court.

OK. Here's my opinion for representation on Congress:
1 WashDC- divide the district by the Potomac River. North is counted in MD. South is counted in VA.
2 Puerto Rico and Carribean entities are counted with Florida.
3 Guam and Pacific islands are counted with Hawaii.
Problem solved....You're welcome

If this doesn't work they'll be moving on the Puerto Rico and then Guam.

Give DC back to Maryland. US Senators from Maryland are both Dems, so what's the problem?

Before DC was established, NYC was the capital. It is precisely not to give any state advantage over others that a Federal district was established. That is what the D in Washington DC means. This act will unravel the Founding contract. These people are insane!

DC was carved out of MD and VA and put under federal management, to prevent any state from having undue leverage over the national government. That reason still applies. But much like the Electoral College (whose reasons for existence also still apply), the Democrats give in to emotion and reject the rational basis.
That said, the district was also intended not to be a place of residence in the first place.

Virginia and Maryland carved DC out of their two states for the purpose of providing for the seat of our national government. If Washington is to become a state, why wouldn't the land devolve back to Va and Md and go back to being parts of two states? I know why the democrats want to do otherwise but figure they'll be some hellacious court battles before the issue is decided.

When I travel for work, I have to pay taxes in all the states I travel to besides my home state. Wouldn't the swamp creatures have to pay "state" taxes in Swamp C in addition to their home states?

After they get this through they will start working on filling the SCOTUS with 15 or 20 Judges.
