Law enforcement world slams
Biden's advice to shoot
suspects 'in the leg'

Original Article

Law enforcement officials are slamming Joe Biden's suggestion that police officers should shoot violent assailants in the leg to avoid a potentially fatal altercation, with experts arguing that police are trained to do exactly the opposite of what Biden advised in order to minimize harm during violent confrontations. In an extended exchange with a questioner during his Philadelphia town hall event with host George Stephanopolous Thursday, Biden laid out his vision for police reform, including his opinion of how police officers should utilize deadly force while on the job.

Comments:

The police shouldn't shoot them in the leg - - they should just "wing" them!

If the police are not allowed to use deadly force, at least shoot them in the groin rather than the leg.

Joe is an idiot. Even if an officer could hit a leg reliably (difficult at best), the implications that 1) the shot is 'low risk' and 2) will incapacitate are both wrong. Someone shot in the leg can still shoot a gun and kill, and if the large artery is hit in the leg, there is a good chance that it would be fatal if not treated by a trained person within a minute or two. I know you are joking, #1, but in actuality, a groin shot is a very deadly shot, likely to hit the large descending aorta artery or one of the branches - the very large femoral arteries going to the legs. Also, bullets can bounce in unpredictable directions from the heavy pelvic bones. I have had training in emergency medical treatment, including gunshots, and groin shots are one of the most difficult places to stop arterial bleeding, tourniquets can't work there.

A Shooting altercation is a high stress and anxiety situation involving sudden floods of adrenaline. It may be hard to even hold a gun in that moment. Only training will get you through usually. I recall an incident where 4 "BIG" County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a convenience store robbery. 28 shots were fired. Broke every window in the place, took out a couple of beer coolers, the robber got away. No injuries fortunately. County name redacted, thanks officers for your service.

A police officer that attempts to shoot at a leg would soon be in the hospital or dead. Biden is a complete imbecile ( but, we already knew that ).

In court, the defendant's attorney asks the police officer: "So, why did you shoot my client in the leg?" "Because I didn't want to hurt him too badly." "So, you KNEW that my client wasn't really a danger to you or anyone else, and yet you shot him, and could have very easily killed or crippled him - when it wasn't necessary to use potentially deadly force?" It goes downhill from there. If it is justifiable to shoot, deadly force is justified. If deadly force is not justified, DO NOT SHOOT. Just that simple. A firearm is not a "less lethal" choice, ever.

#1's "shoot them in the groin" is, especially in this time when criminals, including Antifa and BLM, might be wearing body armor, is actually wise advice. They aren't likely to be wearing any cover down there. So just blast 'em off. As for Biden's gun advice, he is almost comically ignorant of firearms, blitherus ignoramus, worried as he is about assault weapons with "fifty clips" (sic). Speaking of fifty, that's Biden's current IQ.

If Biden is comfortable telling law enforcement officials how to do their job, law enforcement officials should be comfortable telling him how to do his job.

Shoot them in the "bottle" not the leg! Every LEO that has been properly trained knows exactly what this means. Only a demented fool like Joe Biden would make such a stupid comment. #8 Has it dead on! The only reason I pull a gun is if I intend to use it and only then when I or someone else in in danger. I shoot *only* to stop that danger. If it takes the entire magazine, so be it. I'll make more. Another point. I do not use hand loads in my carry.."So you specially made these cartridges by hand for maximum damage potential?' Well it would all be true if I too didn't lose everything in a what? boating accident? really, that's what we are going with?. Ok, boating accident.

They shouldn't even soot them in the leg. They should just shoot the gun or knife out of their hands without injuring the hand just like the Lone Ranger used to do it. Maybe they don't because we don't issue them silver bullets.

Twenty-two days before President Obama left office, the U.S. ambassador to Kiev wrote top officials in Washington that she feared Burisma Holdings had made a second bribe to Ukrainian officials — shortly before a corruption probe against Hunter Biden's natural gas employer was abruptly closed before Donald Trump took office. The concerns are detailed in new memos belatedly released to Just the News under a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit against the State Department. The suit was brought on behalf of the news organization by the public interest law firm the Southeastern Legal Foundation.
