Missouri Republican Sen. Roy Blunt announced Monday plans to retire from the Senate, saying he will not run for re-election in 2022. Blunt made the announcement in a video posted on YouTube. Blunt said in a video that "after 14 general election victories — three to county office, seven to the United States House of Representatives, and four statewide elections — I won’t be a candidate for reelection to the United States Senate next year." The 71-year old Blunt, a member of Senate GOP leadership, said that he will finish out his current term, which runs through the end of next year.

Easy. He's 71. It's time, even though he's been terrific.
We need new blood. Young, smart, real conservatives who are willing to take the fight to the leftists. Let's thank Roy for his service and start working to find, develop, and support the NextGen Conservatives.

Okay. It's good to lose another RINO. But hey, all these folks should be leaving after a decade or two in Washington. So let's give Fighting Roy Blunt kudos and a happy retirement card.

If Roy was not worried about reelection he would run again. The likely possibility Prez Trump would be headlining giant rallies with a new shiny conservative Senate replacement gives Roy nightmares. This is good good good good news!!

See ya! Wouldn't want to be ya! .... This is good news, although part of me is disappointed I won't be able to not vote for him in 2024. He got very rich at our expense and wasn't loyal to the party; I had planned not to support him.

He started out good for Missouri and the country, but somewhere along he must have drank the beltway koolaid. I don't think he could have won another election. Who can understand why he changed so much while in office?

Another example why we really, really, really need term limits for Congress.
2 terms max. 2 in the House, 2 in the Senate, or 1 term in each. Then adios. No pension. No special benefits. 5 year ban from working for lobbying firms after leaving office.
It doesn't matter how strong and ethical a person is when they get to DC, they all get "swamp fever" after awhile and totally forget who they work for. This will remind them quickly!!!!!

I like it, #11. Except they should have a LIFETIME ban on lobbying. Let the lobbying firms use Washington outsiders, NOT those who might still have an inside track or who might still be owed "favors" from the other side of the aisle.

MO has a Republican Gov. why the heck doesn't he resign now so another Republican can be appointed and run as an incumbent in 2022.

I wasn't much of a fan of Blunt, good Senator but not proactive any time that I saw.

We need term limits for the house and senate, just like we have for the president. If we didn't have term limits for the president, we'd probably be under our 4th term of Obama.

One less RINO, one less of the lesser of two evils. Celebrate.

One thing, Trump really “outed” the RINOs and they are already starting to scatter before the next election.
