A Louisiana pastor caught filming himself in a sexual act with two women on a church altar has been denounced by the New Orleans Archbishop, who called his actions "demonic."
Archbishop Gregory Aymond said on Friday that he has ordered the altar to be "removed and burned" and that the pastor, Travis Clark, will "never again" serve in Catholic ministry.

No altars burned when sex acts are committed against minors, children. What's the matter? Catholic church can't afford that many altars?

Replace the 2 women with 2 young boys and the guy woulda been sent to a "retreat" till the heat died down and then moved to another parish.

A threesome, not merely a fetish or kinky, but demonic: relating to, or suggestive of a demon. If you're not knowledgeable regarding the sexual proclivities of demons on or near church alters, it may be difficult to speculate about what those three were really up to.

They should have burned the priest along with the altar. We'll probably see him as a keynote speaker at the next Demoncratic Convention.

Don't paint all Catholics with a broad brush. Do you honestly think that the Catholics you know would approve of this diabolical act? For those of you who aren't familiar with this prayer, here are a few words which I pray every day, "St Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil." There is evil in this world. It touches every segment of society.

At least it was two women and not two altar boys. I realize that the “flesh is weak” for many of us but there is a time and a place for everything and this was neither.

Jimmy Swaggart is still on the air. Even Jim Bakker has some kind of "ministry" going. Mankind is fallen and this manifests across denominations. The archbishop did the right thing. Now the question is will his superiors allow him to follow through and make good on his statement.

Where in Scripture did ANYONE ever pray to an angel? Never! We are to pray to the Father in the name of the son by the power of the Spirit, period! I trust that the Lord sends angels to protect His people! They are certainly not there as an object of our worship!, however!

A vow of celibacy is one tradition of the Catholic Church that should be retired. Priests should be allowed to marry. It is barbaric to require priests to remain celibate. How many people who weren't pedophiles would have become priests if not for this?

I agree with #19. Let the priests marry and maybe you won’t get so many homosexual priests. That’s what they are...the media has tried to label them pedophiles to take the heat off the LBGT movement. These are gay men obsessed with having sex with adolescent boys. Technically they are ephebophiles....gay males who want teens and boys. The street vernacular for these guys is “chickenhawks” and they have ruined the lives of way too many young men.

I'm surprised the Catholic church didn't try to cover this sex scandal up like they did with all the criminal pedophile acts committed by priests. I wonder what the good Catholics Joe Biden and Nancy Pelosi have to say about this situation?

Bishop Aymond's response to this outrage was swift and appropriate. Obviously, the good bishop is experienced in spiritual warfare. Its a pity that a majority of the faithful are not. They are easily shocked by Satan's tactics and turn away from the Church under the mistaken assumption that the clergy are immune from temptation. Catholic priests are "in persona Christi", meaning that while performing the Sacraments they are "in (the) person (of) Christ". Why should the clergy be exempt from the attention of Satan when their God was not?
Satan was in the desert with Christ and had the gall to tempt Him. Satan was with Judas when he received his thirty pieces of silver. Satan was in the courtyard when Peter denied Jesus three times, a prophesy fulfilled before the rooster crowed. What hubris does modern man possess that makes him think this time in history the Evil One has tired of attacking his eternal foe?
At the end of the 19th century Pope Leo XIII reported a vision he could only describe as horrible. He witnessed a conversation between God and Lucifer where the Devil proposed that with 100 years he could destroy the Catholic Church on earth. God took Satan up on the offer and the fallen angel chose the 20th century. Pope Leo saw the entirety of the century that brought more pain and death to humanity than any other passed. He also saw its ending, with St. Michael the Archangel throwing Satan into Hell. It was Pope Leo that composed the prayer to St. Michael. In a part not quoted above we pray, "By the power of God, cast into Hell Satan and all the evil spirits that prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls." Satan's century is over and he is desperate. You can see it in those souls that have been ruined. They are ramping up the evil, even to the point of satanic sex in a sacred place.
Praying to the Archangels or our own Guardian Angel, or any of the saints (all souls in heaven are saints, those recognized by the Church are worthy of our emulation) is no different than asking a family member or friend to pray for us. With all due respect, I think Protestants confuse prayer with worship. Catholics, high Anglicans and Lutherans worship God through liturgy, as well as with prayer and hymns. Most Protestant denominations only have prayer and hymns as their worship, therefore prayer to the Archangel Michael or to the saints is looked upon as "worship" when it is not. I have deep respect for all my brothers and sisters in Christ, I am only attempting to understand the root of this perennial misunderstanding.
At the end of 2,000 years the Catholic Church still embodies the teachings of Christ as passed onto the Apostles and then onto their disciples. "The gates of hell shall not prevail against her." Gates are a defensive position. Christ means for his people to be on offense. Pray and do battle against all evil, but never be surprised where you find those spirits seeking the ruin of souls.

There was a time when the U.S. Catholic Church had a severe priest shortage. The church's leaders debated how to increase the number of priests. The choices were: allow priests to marry, allow women to become priests or allow homosexual men to become priests as long as they promise to remain celibate. Well, we all know which choice was made by the church leadership. And we also know that the homosexuals did not remain celibate.
I remember reading two academic studies on this matter back in the 1990s. I was shocked to discover that about 40% of Catholic priests in the United States were homosexual. There was one here in my hometown that preyed on young men. I know that because he went after two of my friends, both of whom were in their early-20s. What we're witnessing is the destruction of the Catholic Church from the inside. And never forget that this is also the reason for the destruction of the Boy Scouts. You don't place homosexual men in positions of power over young boys.

It saddens me when I read stories like this one. Satan is real and he and his minions have great influence in this world. Of course, any church, is a prize target for the evil we are experiencing today because Satan wants to use the sins of many Church leaders to destroy the reputation of Christians. We must be vigilant and aware that temptation is real regardless of position or status. It is best to set your eyes on Jesus Christ than any man or woman. This act, however, is especially disrespectful in our eyes and rightly so. Defiling a church is a vile act. Hedonism is destroying the moral fabric of our culture and is a direct result of denying the existence of God.

#26, there was another option the Church implemented. They allowed a number (can't remember how many) of already married Episcopal priests to come into the Catholic Church. However, the celibacy requirement for others is still in effect.

#18, if you would bother to read the Catholic prayers to angels and saints you would know that we don’t pray to them in adoration. We pray to them asking them to help us. That goes for the Hail Mary too.
St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray. Oh, Prince of the Heavenly Host, by the power of God, cast into hell Satan an all evil spirits who wander the world seeking the ruin of souls.
