An Orange County Democratic Party leader has learned the perils of sharing social media posts praising dead communist leaders. On Sunday, Jeff LeTourneau, vice chair of the county's Democratic Party, shared a Facebook post that glorified Ho Chi Minh, the former communist leader of Vietnam. (Snip) he post, which was deleted about 90 minutes later, said that “Ho Chi Minh liberated an entire poor, colonized nation from 2 of the most powerful imperial military forces in the world (the US and France) and won full independence for the people of Vietnam.” The post also described Ho Chi Minh as short

I would imagine the half million boat people from Vietnam along with the 2 million in Cambodia killed by the Khmer Rouge along with the 58,000 Americans killed in Vietnam would disagree on Uncle Ho's historical value

Leftist are all Communists at heart. They just lie and want to "make everything better" by getting rid of free markets and enslaving everyone.
Leftists are evil, all of them.

As strange as it may sound, if America had embraced Ho Chi Minh (formerly a baker at a bakery in NYC) instead of the French, would the Vietnam War have even been necessary? Just a rhetorical question because I don't know enough of the history to speak more on it. Did Truman blow it?

#5, he was a communist. We were stopping communists back in those days, not coddling them like we do now.

The largest Vietnamese population in the United States is in Orange County. They skew Republican, and might be more motivated to turn many of those who've voted democrat recently to switch this election.
I would have to wonder if the other large populations of Chinese and Koreans might sense the mostly white, progressive (to the left of liberal) democrat establishment feels the same way, only giving them lip-service to gain their votes but don't really know their background, and why they left their homelands.
But, CA has ballot harvesting, and was able to turn 7 GOP seats around AFTER election day.

This scum bucket Democrat was probably marching on his college campus chanting Ho HO Ho Chi Min back in his youth. Had to hide his love for Communists all these years but now felt safe to let it out. Let is out in the wrong county.

Appreciate the comment, #6. But, we were taught in high school (52 years ago, ugh!) that Ho Chi Minh didn't go communist until after the US refused his repeated requests to have the French let Vietnam go as their colony. Ho Chi Minh wrote several letters to Truman at the time begging for freedom from the French. I don't remember if Roosevelt was party to this. Then, after Truman dissed Minh, off to the dark side Ho Chi Minch went. Indeed, he became a staunch communist.

After reading several letters from the sixties written by McNamara and President Johnson, the whole Vietnam ordeal seemed to be a manufactured war for oil off the coast of Vietnam with trumped up incidents for a reason to put military personnel into the region.

i have read that during WWII, if U.S. pilots parachuted into Viet Nam, and were caught by government forces, they we turned over to the Japanese
military, but if found by Ho Chi Minh's revolutionaries, the pilots were protected and moved to the coast for pi9clk up by American forces.
I don't know if that is true, but I recall reading it in reputable publications.
