California ski resort changing name,
citing offensive word

Original Article

California’s popular Squaw Valley Ski Resort will change its name because the word “squaw” is a derogatory term for Native American women, officials announced Tuesday. The site was the scene of the 1960 Winter Olympics. The decision was reached after consulting with local Native American groups and extensive research into the etymology and history of the term “squaw," said Ron Cohen, president and COO of Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows. The word “squaw,” derived from the Algonquin language, may have once simply meant “woman.” But over generations, the word morphed into a misogynist and racist term to disparage Indigenous women.

Comments:

The Left uses language as a weapon against conservatives. Orwell's "1984" is their bible. "Bastard" was replaced with "illegitimate child" was replaced with "child born out of wedlock" was replaced with "nonmarital child" was replaced with whatever the Left dreams up next. "Negro" (e.g. the United Negro College Fund) was replaced with "colored people" (e.g. the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People) was replaced with "African-American" was replaced with "People of Color" was replaced with "Black." "Squaw" is an innocent, bias-free descriptor for a female Native American. Only the Orwellian Thought Police could think otherwise.

When the Supreme Court resolved the 2000 presidential election in favor of George W. The California Supreme Court on Monday overturned the death penalty sentence for Scott Peterson, convicted in the Christmas Eve murder of his pregnant wife, Laci, and their unborn son, Conner. The court's decision came more than 15 years after Laci, a Modesto, Calif., school teacher, was killed. Investigators said Peterson dumped his wife's body from his fishing boat into the San Francisco Bay in 2002. The bodies of Laci and Conner surfaced months later. While the murder conviction against Peterson stayed in place, the court ordered a new penalty phase trial.

Calling it “the ultimate double standard,” Graham said that the documents reveal that leaders at the FBI sought to give the Clinton campaign a defensive briefing before it could pursue a FISA warrant related to a threat posed to the campaign by a foreign government.
