A national political convention gives presidential candidates their first major opportunity of the campaign to connect with a national audience, reaching viewers by the millions and kicking off the race’s climactic final leg. Until recently, it also usually meant the candidate would get a bump in the polls — like a guaranteed $200 for passing “Go” — though bravura performances tended to add a few extra points to the so-called convention bounce. The average convention bounce has been on the wane in recent years — and with the coronavirus limiting the convention’s proceedings, this could be the year when the

It's hilarious to see the dem media try to explain why nothing is working for the dems and still maintain with nothing going right that the dems are still ahead. They are pathetic. Joe survived his speech and they think that is something to celebrate. It doesn't make Joe competent, just lucky. It is clear the hard Left is in charge of the dem party and Joe had nothing to say about that. His party is split and enervated. He has weaknesses with every dem identity group. The dems are going down in flames.
We have some dynamic speakers for our Convention and of course the truth on our side even though the media will try to spin things. Trump has shown the ability to make some amazing speeches and I am sure his Convention speech will be very good. The party, beyond the Never Trumper losers, are united behind Trump. The economy is coming back. The People give Trump credit for lots of his accomplishments no matter what the media says. We need to keep pushing for a YUGE victory but the election is ours to lose.

The liberals theorize: If our convention failed, it must be because all conventions fail. Aren't we the perfect and inevitable people, after all?
Nah. Our Republican convention will be a big hit. Even if the media refuse to say so afterwards.

Since there was no convention bounce for Joseph Biden, the New York Times is now claiming that convention bounces are a thing of the past! What crap. Just wait until next week end when President Trump enjoys a big bounce.

The bounce is over if you are Hiden Joe Biden. Everyone knows this guy is not fit for office. What is there for a democrat to be excited about, other than rioting, looting, arson, etc. They know there candidate is DOA in November.

It might be that the Dems failed to put on a good show. From all accounts, it seems the TV time was wasted putting on the usual suspects with their usual grievance. Okay, and then what? Basement Biden came out and gave a TV speech that was...what?
One hopes the GOP/Trump Campaign can put on a better show, with better, engaging visuals and speakers. If that ballyhooed re-cap show was any indication...

It's only dead for the JoHo team. It's like using the paddles on a corpse that has been dead for about eight hours. Nothing bounces.

With Trump you will see passion and love of country. He will talk about liberals vs. conservatives and how liberals have refused to provide law and order to their areas. You will not have a parade of grievance-mongers lining up to bash our country and say it should not even have been founded in the first place. History is full of conquests and I doubt that the Brits are whining to this day about how the Normans should have stayed home and left them alone.

Have a big street dance, but call it a "peaceful BLM protest".
Problem solved. The police won't dare try to break it up. And because you use those magic words "peaceful BLM protest" it will be magically immune from the Coronavirus.
Cool the way that works!!!

Dear NYT,
The "Convention Bounce" is only "a thing of the past" when your candidate is flatlining . . . . or, more accurately, headed south.
