Author Lee Smith discussed his new book Permanent Coup: How Enemies Foreign and Domestic Targeted the American President with Sirius XM’s Breitbart News Daily on Tuesday, detailing how former Vice President and now 2020 Democrat nominee Joe Biden was part of that “permanent coup.” (Audio) “Biden was certainly part of the set up,” Smith told show host Breitbart News’s Political Editor Matt Boyle, citing recently declassified FBI notes that showed Biden was involved in the FBI’s investigation into former National Security Adviser Lt. Gen. (Ret.) Michael Flynn for alleged collusion.

A dented hood isn’t that bad when you consider what could have happened to Melinda Fredricks, a West Seattle mom of two. "It happened so fast, but it was also like it was in slow motion," she said. Fredricks was driving with her 17-year-old son on Interstate 5 through downtown Seattle Tuesday morning when she said she saw a man with a rock take aim at her moving car. "I saw the man standing on the side. I saw the brick coming through the air and I was like, 'Oh my gosh.' In that moment, you just can’t react," Fredricks said.

President Donald Trump fired off a message on Twitter Wednesday night, during former President Barack Obama’s speech at the Democrat national convention.“HE SPIED ON MY CAMPAIGN, AND GOT CAUGHT!” Trump wrote on Twitter during the president’s speech. Obama spoke live in Philadelphia at the Museum of the Revolution with the story of the Constitution on the wall behind him. The former president repeatedly branded Trump as a threat to democracy, despite his and his administration’s efforts to spy on and prosecute Trump behind the scenes.

The ratings for the first two nights of the DNC are in and they aren’t very good. Compared to four years ago, total viewership among the broadcast networks is down 42%. Even among the hardcore audience of the cable news networks, the Democrats are running at a 16% deficit compared to 2016.Newsbusters delivered all the numbers this morning. The broadcast networks suffered the biggest drops: ABC, CBS and NBC combined for about 6.7 million viewers at 10 p.m., off by 42 percent from the 11.6 million who tuned in four years ago. ABC led the trio with 2.44 million viewers, followed by NBC (2.28 million) and CBS (1.99 million).

Former President Barack Obama warned during the Democrat primary that his former Vice President Joe Biden could “f*ck things up,” an anonymous Democrat said according to a report in Politico. The line was originally attributed to an anonymous Democrat source cited by Politico‘s Marc Caputo from a conversation the Democrat claims to have had with the former president about the 2020 primary. It suggests that Biden was not Obama’s first choice for the Democrat party’s presidential candidate in 2020.
One Democrat wwho is neutral in the 2020 race and spoke to Obama about Biden’s gaffe-prone nature recalled the former president saying: ‘Don’t underestimate Joe’s ability to f**k things up,'” Caputo wrote.

When Kamala Harris takes the stage at the Democratic National Convention tonight, she’ll doubtless project an image of absolute harmony with presidential nominee Joe Biden, the man who has lifted her to newfound fame and potential great power. On Thursday night, Biden will glory in his history-making decision. The two candidates will bask in their mutual regard. But, if they’re elected, policy differences and irritations are going to arise. Vice presidents are politicians who usually got pretty far on their own, and they’re human beings; to constantly subordinate oneself to one’s boss requires exceptional discipline and self-effacement, something at which

Lansing, Mich. - Michigan remains at the coronavirus plateau Gov. Gretchen Whitmer described last week with new case counts around 500 to 600 per day. While Michigan’s coronavirus situation remains better than other states with stable daily increases, she has no plans to remove the State of Emergency that allows many of her orders aimed at preventing the illness from spreading. Whitmer said the State of Emergency may remain in place until a vaccine is approved and widely distributed in Michigan. But she pledged to watch coronavirus trends and she wouldn’t rule out removing the State of Emergency is illness levels plummet.

Joe Biden selected a running mate based on the color of her skin. He rejected other candidates based on the color of their skin. He did this openly and without apology.
Think about that for a moment. Let that sink in.
In the year 2020, more than six decades after America desegregated public schools, a nominee for president from a major political party brazenly displayed outright racism in picking a running mate.
It is a mockery of everything Martin Luther King fought for. A perversion of the entire civil rights movement. For most Americans today, their parents would have spanked their little fannies raw if they had ever displayed such blatant racism

There’s a reason President Trump calls him “Sleepy Joe.”
Joe Biden would be the oldest person ever elected president, and, yeah, he sometimes does seem to be slowing down. And for sure he’s no Bernie Sanders — he has no fiery radical program to change the world.
If elected, Biden won’t be known for his inspirational oratory, his close attention to policy details, his bold vision or his dramatic reshaping of society. He’s been in public office for nearly 50 years and is used to playing the game according to its long-established rules. He’s more swamp creature than revolutionist.

WASHINGTON — When Bill Clinton gave his convention acceptance speech in 1992, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was a toddler.
Clinton, whose presidency steered the party to the center a generation ago, returned to the convention podium Tuesday night as a gray-haired party elder; Ocasio-Cortez, a rising insurgent pushing the party to the left, got a snippet of speaking time.
The two personify a yawning gap within the Democratic Party between baby boomers who have dominated party leadership for decades and a rising generation of more progressive, diverse younger people.

Second only to New Jersey in deaths per capita from the coronavirus, New York has suffered more than 32,000 deaths from the pandemic overall, roughly 20,000 more than any other state in the union. And unlike other states, New York's horrific death toll can be attributed to two specific decisions: first, Gov. Andrew Cuomo's refusal to shut down the New York City subway system, which functioned as a petri dish of the pandemic and became a main vector of its spread, and second, his disastrous nursing home directive which forced facilities to readmit patients who tested positive for the virus

Portland police declared yet another riot Tuesday night on the 83rd consecutive day of protests after a 200-strong mob of protesters torched the city's famous Multnomah Building. The group had marched to the county seat of government for the first time, smashing windows and sparking a blaze by pushing lit newspapers through the windows. One image shows the protesters had marked a window to the building with the graffiti: 'Aim here.' Demonstrations that often turn violent have racked Oregon's biggest city for more than two months following the police killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis.

Ever since the police killing of George Floyd, Democrats have attempted to blame the Republicans and President Donald Trump of somehow abetting police brutality in general or Derek Chauvin, the police officer who put his knee on the neck of George Floyd, in particular. This seemed more than a little ironic, given Gore’s own history with military ballots from overseas.

Cindy McCain is going to bat for Joe Biden, lending her voice to a video set to air during Tuesday night’s Democratic National Convention programming focused on Biden’s close friendship with her late husband, Republican Sen. John McCain of Arizona.
She’s just the latest Republican to join in the convention, after a number of notable GOP former elected officials — including former Ohio Gov. It’s a continuation of a major theme that Democrats have pushed through the first night of the convention — an effort to broaden the party’s appeal to occasional Republicans and disaffected Trump voters.

The agency has not released the exact number of investigators who were fired—news reports say “multiple” individuals were canned.

Did anyone watch day two of the DNC? John Kerry and former president Bill Clinton, credibly accused of sexual assault were headlining. Someone wake me up.
It really struck me how meaningful it was that Colin Powell and the holy ghost of John McCain were featured. Other “Republicans” have appeared or are scheduled to appear: failed presidential candidate John Kasich, former GOP New York Congressman Susan Molinari (also a former Google employee and current Atlantic Council member), former N.J. Governor Christine Todd Whitman and Silicon Valley denizen Meg Whitman.
Of course we know these “Republicans” would characterize themselves as “moderates” but the Democrats have taken a hard left turn:

The effects of coronavirus mandates on small businesses, and especially restaurants, have been catastrophic. New York, outside of New York City, went into “Phase 3” in July, and restaurants were able to open back up under severe restrictions, including reduced capacity. Very few of them are doing well under this arrangement. ABC reported that more than 16,000 restaurants have closed permanently. One diner in Seneca County, N.Y., has had enough and took to social media to tell the public what the county is doing to them. The trouble started when a snitch ate a meal at A.J.’s Family Diner and then called the health department to

The Democratic National Convention formally nominated Joe Biden as its presidential candidate on Tuesday night, but the roll call of states and territories also included the votes for runner-up Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.). Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), a prominent Sanders supporter, seconded his nomination, and this is how NBC News recapped her short nominating speech: "In one of the shortest speeches of the DNC, Rep. Ocasio-Cortez did not endorse Joe Biden." After being criticized for political illiteracy, NBC News deleted the tweet and issued a clarification about how conventions work. As noted by The Daily Wire on Monday, Republican strategist and congressional GOP candidate Kimberly Klacik released a hard-hitting ad slamming Democrats for their apparent fake concern for black lives, highlighting the devastation in Democrat-run cities, particularly Baltimore. The ad went viral online, racking up millions of views within hours and earning astounding social media engagement, such as shares, likes, and comments. The ad was so hot, in fact, it seemed to have eclipsed former First Lady Michelle Obama’s Democratic National Convention speech given on the same day, at least digitally,

President Trump praised far-right congressional candidate Laura Loomer after her victory in a Florida GOP primary race.“Great going Laura,” he said late Tuesday in addition to retweeting a few posts about her win. "You have a great chance against a Pelosi puppet.” (Tweet) Loomer, who has self-identified as a "proud Islamophobe," won the Republican primary for Florida’s 21st Congressional District, where Trump is registered to vote. The president did vote in Tuesday’s primary, but it is not known for whom. Loomer is unlikely to become the district’s congresswoman, however, as it is generally thought to be a safely blue district. The candidate has a history of making bigoted remarks.

A DNC panelist is ready to end terrible things…like capitalism.I have a question for you: Is it believable that someone would drive to the store, buy markers and poster board, go home and make signs, sit in traffic for an hour, and spend all day yelling words of which they never paused to discover the meaning? That seems implausible, but I’m sometimes convinced to suspect otherwise. For example, socialism is a system in which no one may own his or her own business. Capitalism is the opposite. How could it be that anyone would prefer the former? And why have I seen business owners touting the “S” word?

Osama bin Laden, a bad man who still understood the Arab and Muslim mind, said, “When people see a strong horse and a weak horse, by nature they will like the strong horse.” In slightly more than three-and-a-half years, Donald Trump has turned the United States-Israel alliance into a strong horse. That’s why the UAE made official its relationship with Israel, and that’s why other Arab and Muslim nations are signaling that they will follow.

In a recent OpEd from The Guardian, author Larry Elliot opines on the frequency of obesity among low-income households in the U.K., and points out that the problem “in the U.S. mirrors that of the U.K.” Elliot goes on to proclaim, that, “there will be less obesity when people can afford to eat better.”
The premise is that poor folks are victims of one injustice or another; in Elliot’s case, he claims they are unable to afford healthy food. This notion has been floating around for several years now, particularly as it relates to children, and is one that is frequently parroted by the left in America.

The New York Times on Monday declared that the “Postal Crisis Ripples Across Nation as Election Looms.” On Tuesday, Postmaster General Louis DeJoy canceled changes he’d started to enact that Democrats claimed were “sabotaging” mail delivery at the behest of President Donald Trump.
DeJoy said it was “to avoid even the appearance of any impact on election mail.” House Speaker Nancy Pelosi gloated that “They felt the heat. And that’s what we were trying to do, make it too hot for them to handle.”
Democrats had claimed that not only was the situation at the post office a crisis, but

Forget the happy talk of the mainstream media. The Democrats are a coalition of mutually antagonistic factions, united only by their hatred of President Donald Trump. They couldn't even keep a lid on the conflict between the dominant radicals and the pseudo-moderates propping up senescent Joe Biden as a putative centrist. Don’t look for the mainstream media to mention this, but the Biden campaign actually disavowed one of the speakers during last night’s Democratic National Convention internet TV show, Linda Sarsour and she is muttering about retaliation at the polls.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) says any Texas city that defunds their police department should have their property tax revenue frozen at the current level, forever.
The governor announced the legislative proposal to discourage the defunding of law enforcement Tuesday in Fort Worth and encouraged the Texas Legislature to take up the issue in the 2021 session.
"Defunding the police puts the residents in danger and it invites lawlessness into our communities," Abbott said. "This will be an effective tool that effectively will prevent cities from being able to reduce funding support for law enforcement agencies."

In an opening night convention speech stunning for the depth and breadth of its chutzpah and hypocrisy, New York governor Andrew Cuomo ignored his own criminal negligence in ushering patients infected with the Chinese Wuhan virus into New York nursing homes, sentencing tens of thousands of vulnerable seniors to death.
It was perhaps fitting that the first night of the party of death’s national convention, a party that supports the killing of unborn life on demand up to and even after the moment of birth, featured New York’s angel of nursing-home death.

When Donald Trump entered the political arena some five years ago, reporters floundered for a way to cover his candidacy. Then, sensing a ratings boom from the chaos the businessman and former reality TV star injected into the primary, the left-leaning press quickly converted to covering all things Trump, benefitting both their bottom line and their sense of schadenfreude.
Following Trump’s surprise election in 2016, the press faced a different challenge: How to cover a president they despised? Unfortunately, their answer was to abandon any semblance of journalistic integrity.

California’s electricity grid picked an inconvenient moment to stumble, at least for Democrats seeking to drum up support this week for Joseph R. Biden’s $2 trillion green-energy plan at the Democratic National Convention.
The Golden State’s ambitious renewable portfolio standard is coming under fire as the state’s energy grid buckles under the strain of an oppressive heatwave, prompting rolling blackouts that have left millions without power as the state moves to replace nuclear and natural gas as energy sources with solar and wind.
California seeks to generate 60% of electricity via renewables by 2030,

On Tuesday, the Democratic National Convention (DNC) apparently included Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) in its Native American Caucus meeting. While Warren has apologized for claiming a Native American identity after her disastrous DNA test flop and President Donald Trump has repeatedly mocked her as “Pocahontas,” it seems the DNC decided it would be a good idea to highlight the controversy.
“I’m excited for the DNC Native American Caucus meeting today. Please join [Deb Haaland (D-N.M.)], [Sharice Davids (D-Kan.)], [Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass)], and me (and whole bunch of other good folks) today!” Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan (D-Minn.) tweeted on Tuesday. Kamala Harris does not want to be the president of the United States. She wants to be the queen of the post-constitutional remnants of what used to be the United States. On first reading, this might seem like a hysterical and overblown claim, but it’s actually quite easy to support. All one has to do is read the description of the president’s duties in Article II of the Constitution and compare it with anything and everything Harris has ever said she would do if she found herself occupying the post; the two simply do not match up. In fact, judging by her own words and deeds,

Dr. Ronny Jackson, the former White House physician to Presidents Obama and Trump is speaking out about his impression of Joe Biden's physical and mental fitness for office.
"The best way I can describe every time I see him is that he's just lost," Jackson said.
"I won't make any particular diagnosis about dementia ... but what I will say is that something is not right," continued the doctor, who just won a GOP congressional primary in Texas. Asked whether he's comfortable with the idea of Biden assuming the top executive position in the country, Jackson said, "I'm not."

Watching the long slog of the second night of the Democrat’s convention, a famous Winston Churchill line came to mind: “Take this pudding away—it has no theme!”
Old and young, progressive and super progressive, left and far left, black, white, Asian, Latino, Native American — they all had something to say. But if there was a theme running through the night, I couldn’t find it.
Oh, yes, Donald Trump bad, got that. Really, really bad. Ok, got that, too.

It is the dog days of summer, and so we might as well talk about one of the dogs. I have in mind Ghislaine Maxwell, the apparent sex maniac who is now accused of all manner of horrendous crimes committed with young girls whom she allegedly trained to be sex slaves for the vile Jeffrey Epstein, who is often called a “billionaire.”
Incidentally, I would bet he made his millions — somewhat less than billions — by blackmailing his wealthy friends after catching them in the act with the young girls he provided them. It is rumored that he had his various habitats installed with hidden cameras and filming equipment.

The Trump campaign released a new ad today that highlights Joe Biden’s senility. The ad is tough and uncompromising, and it strikes at Biden’s weakest point. To the extent there are swing voters left in America, they don’t want a president who can’t function and may not live long. That is the truth; call it brutal if you want to. Here is the ad: (Snip for video) Somewhat ironically, the ad makes the Joe Biden of 2015-2016 look quite good. It probably wasn’t easy to find clips of Slow Joe sounding that coherent.

Experts across the political spectrum are skeptical of New York attorney general Letitia James's (D.) attempt to dissolve the NRA, with some liberals even calling the move "dangerous."
Legal scholars told the Washington Free Beacon it was hard to see the massive gun-rights group being dissolved over James's investigation into its finances. Cato Institute legal fellow Walter Olson said the case presented amounted to a Democrat attempting to shut down a key political opponent.

There’s an unwritten but widely followed rule in politics: When you can’t win an election on the issues, lie. When lying doesn’t work, lie until it does.
On the night the Democratic Party officially nominated Joe Biden to be its 2020 presidential nominee, Democrats proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that they can’t win with a substantive debate about policy, resorting instead to presenting Americans with a two-hour marathon of misleading claims, outright lies and hypocrisy. For example, Rep. Conor Lamb, D-Penn. and Florida Democratic Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried credited Biden with the incredible job growth experienced under the first three years

A CNN panel was quick to defend former President Bill Clinton Tuesday night after a Republican commentator asked how he had not been "canceled" in the #MeToo era.
Ahead of Clinton's appearance on the second night of the Democratic National Convention, the former president was showered with praise by CNN commentators Van Jones and Jennifer Granholm. However, their colleague Scott Jennings, a former George W. Bush White House official, was puzzled that the Democrats continue to give Clinton a platform.

Joe Biden accepted the Democratic Party’s nomination in what might have been the most awkward, unexciting way possible. After a Democratic official announced that Biden had won a majority of the party’s delegates, the virtual event switched over to the high school library where Biden and his wife, Jill Biden, waited. This segment was obviously live because the transition was so clunky that viewers had to watch the two stand there smiling awkwardly while stringed confetti fell from the ceiling. But don’t worry. In one respect, the virtual Democratic convention proved last night to be a massive improvement on the real thing: The roll call of the states leading to the nomination of the presidential candidate. It’s usually a trial to sit through. Not this time. The sheer visual variety of the 57 separate little rah-rah moments delivered by sometimes eloquent, sometimes wacky speakers proved to be an unexpected delight. The necessary evil of every convention became an unexpected high point, especially the guy from Rhode Island who talked about the state’s squid business while the burly and masked guy next to him held up a plate of calamari. Fantastic.
