Shocking video shows a bison dragging and thrashing a woman in a South Dakota state park after she reportedly got too close to a calf, as thousands have traveled to the state for an annual motorcycle rally, according to multiple reports. Footage of the Wednesday attack, captured by witness Jo Reed, shows the bison taking hold of the woman and dragging her across the street into the grass. The animal continues to violently shake and spin the woman as other bikers look on in horror, the video shows. The animal ripped off her pants before running off as onlookers describe

Comments:

She got flung around like a rag doll. Is very lucky to be alive.

Since "the victim suffered injuries that were considered not to be serious", I may be able to risk an insensitive wisecrack about it being called a attempted sexual assault since her pants were ripped off. But then it WAS a female bison, though, so n e v e r m i n d. We've been to Custer State Park and been close to them in the road, but IN THE CAR! Approaching those guys is definitely risky, Even moreso if the females have calves. Approaching a nursing female is just plain foolhardily dangerous. This woman is one very fortunate lady. Now about that guy with a handgun....

I'd say this victim is too dumb to be riding a motorcycle... I drove through Custer State Park in the spring and my car was eventually surrounded by mama bison and their very young calves. It was a scary thrill, to hear the hooves approaching and the grass being munched. I sat still as a stone and enjoyed watching these great beasts! Ramona (the Pest)

A country kid knows NEVER try to mess with a calf, no matter how cute, because mama cow has horns and will come at you! I believe this buffalo hooked the woman's belt and couldn't get her off, finally flinging her off, sans pants.

"There's a certain quality in quantity." J. Stalin ... and cattle and bison have quantity when it comes to size and weight. They can kill you just by stepping on you or squashing you against a fence. There's a big difference between a 200 lb. person and a 1500 or 1 ton animal.

Was having lunch in a pull-off in Custer State Park during a cross country bicycle trip (1972). A herd of about 30 of those leviathans came charging out of the woods behind us to escape the bugs. The entire herd (all of which have poor eyesight) didn't see us and parted around the rocks within 2-3 ft of the rocks we were sitting on - to go roll around in the gravel/dirt road before wandering off. Still freaks me out.....

The Democratic National Convention formally nominated Joe Biden as its presidential candidate on Tuesday night, but the roll call of states and territories also included the votes for runner-up Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.). Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), a prominent Sanders supporter, seconded his nomination, and this is how NBC News recapped her short nominating speech: "In one of the shortest speeches of the DNC, Rep. Ocasio-Cortez did not endorse Joe Biden." After being criticized for political illiteracy, NBC News deleted the tweet and issued a clarification about how conventions work. Defying the coronavirus pandemic’s mounting human and economic toll, stocks closed Tuesday at a record high, bringing an end to the shortest bear market in U.S. history. After notching three consecutive weeks of gains, the Standard & Poor’s 500 index closed at 3,389, gaining 0.2 percent on the day. The finish capped a remarkable comeback from the March plunge that slashed 34 percent off the previous record, set Feb. 19, as the pandemic tightened its grip on the country. Investors Tuesday brushed aside worries about the nation’s continuing struggle to contain the pandemic, focusing instead on signs of strength in

Three crew of a Seattle fishing boat who were found to have antibodies able to neutralise the new coronavirus remained uninfected in an outbreak that swept through the ship, sickening most people on board, researchers have reported. The small real-world study, which has not been peer-reviewed, is among the first in humans to suggest a link between neutralising antibodies -- those that stop the virus latching onto host cells -- and protection from infection. Researchers from the University of Washington and Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle screened 120 of 122 people before they boarded the fishing vessel in May

The Democratic National Convention is set to begin on Monday, not that you would know it if you watched any of the Sunday shows. Despite the culmination of the highly publicized veepstakes succeeding in roiling media praise and a massive fundraising haul, Joe Biden and his newly announced running mate Kamala Harris have taken an unusually guarded approach to campaign coverage, even in the midst of a global pandemic forcing much of normal campaigning to go virtual. Biden's campaign strategy since locking down the nomination through waiting for the general election to begin in earnest has consisted largely of focus-group-tested

I saw a Tesla with #BlackLivesMatter written on the rear windshield the other day. It appeared to be a parent picking up their kid from a “pandemic pod,” which, if you’re not familiar, is a small cluster of families who pool resources to hire a private tutor, who may be a parent. These pods are very popular among my neighbors in the Bay Area of California. Nearby I could see a YMCA, which provides child care and after-school programming. It had shut down due to COVID-19. I’m not the first to point out that pods are emblematic of educational inequity

More Americans approve than disapprove of Joe Biden's choice of Sen. Kamala Harris for the 2020 Democratic ticket by a 25-point margin, 54-29%, in a new ABC News/Washington Post poll. Approval of the pick ranges from 86-8% among Democrats to 25-55% among Republicans -- notable that one in four Republicans approves. It's 52-29% among independents, potential swing voters in presidential elections. While reaction to Harris is broadly positive, the margin narrows among those who have strong opinions. Thirty-four percent of Americans strongly approve of her selection, while 22% strongly disapprove, a 12-point margin. One reason is that her strong support

It has become almost conventional wisdom that if Joseph Biden is elected President this November he will only serve one term and not seek reelection in 2024. Given Biden's age, this makes intuitive sense. At 77, he is already the oldest person ever to be a major party candidate for President. Although his doctor says he's in good health for a man his age, there is no guarantee that he will remain so for another four years, let alone eight. This reality framed Biden's decision about choosing a running mate. Because of his age, Biden needed to choose somebody who

In composing my new book, Unmasking Obama: The Fight to Tell the True Story of a Failed Presidency, I thought hard about whether I should address the question of Barack Obama's sexuality. Two considerations persuaded me to pursue the issue. One was the no-holds-barred media treatment of the sex life, real and imagined, of Donald Trump and Brett Kavanaugh. The second was the fact that despite Obama's early feint to the center, his presidency was something of a golden age for gay America. A May 2012 Newsweek cover story, in fact, dubbed Obama "the first gay president."

The debate over schools reopening has affected how Americans view teachers’ unions. It has been well-publicized that the unions in many districts have submitted political demands that have little to do with pandemic safety as a condition of returning to the classroom. None of the political demands have anything to do with educating children, either. One of the requirements, defunding the police, has actually been getting children killed in cities like New York City, Chicago, and Atlanta. Perhaps the most annoying displays were members of the teachers’ unions protesting school openings in large groups while maintaining that returning to the classroom is too dangerous.

Though John Lennon had informed his bandmates months earlier that he was leaving the group, the breakup of the Beatles did not become official until April 10, 1970, when Paul McCartney issued a press release stating he was no longer working with the fabulous foursome. That release came after a whirlwind year in 1969 that saw McCartney, Lennon, George Harrison and Ringo Starr record Abbey Road, which contains the final occasion all four members recorded together with its closing song, “The End,” and also Let It Be, the band’s final record, while also being filmed during rehearsals
