‘This is Out of Control': Downtown

On Monday, all of America reeled at the sight of Chicago's Magnificent Mile being pillaged by roaming bands of thieves, who seemed to move with abandon through the city's downtown. Just one week prior, news networks spread similar images of a shootout in front of high-end boutiques on Oak Street. To downtown residents like Gary Hebding, it was no surprise. Hebding said he has seen continued crime downtown in recent months. "This is never something I've seen before in the four years that I've lived here," he said. "Those incidents are coming here downtown, and they are happening right here

Comments:

White liberals are finally seeing the world they created lapping at their own front porches. Now they fearfully cower in their $650K condos demanding someone stop it.

Do you mean to suggest that when the gangs were doing their killing confined to their own neighborhood things were in control? You already committed to an unsustainable tax burden which was causing flight, now you failed to protect those who were left from roving bands of barbarians and I suppose you still call it "progress." Oh and as as suburban conservative it is all my fault. This is all on the leftist progressive democrats who believe themselves to be morally superior. Oh but there are too many black men in prison so stop putting them in prison instead of figuring our what got them there to begin with. That is because the policies that have rotted out urban civilization win elections. Now the rest of the state will be asked to take on an even greater share of the cost of your disastrous policies while you hold your hand out to other states who you criticize for less enlightened than you.

Try as I might, I can't work up much sympathy for people who voted for a leftist government and are getting it good and hard. I'm frankly glad the urban thugs are targeting wealthy liberal enclaves like the Magnificent Mile, Upper East Side and Beverly Hills. These leftist fools have voted "progressive" to feel good about themselves while at the same time being confident that their money will insulate them from the ugly consequences.

Democrats planted the seed of dissent as soon as Donald Trump was elected President. After 3 1/2 years of doing all they could to "resist", Covid and George Floyd unrest proved the perfect time to unleash the civil unrest needed to help continue their silent coup of the Trump Presidency. Portlan, Seattle, and Minneapolis were dry runs for larger cities like New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago. Now that the Democrat best laid plans are actually affecting some upper crust Democrat residential and commercial areas, it sounds like some people are having second thoughts. You reap what you sow. Liberal Democrats created the current atmosphere of dissent and fear over the past 3 1/2 years. They are now getting what they wanted but not what they expected to happen to THEM.

The idea that as long as it was all contained in certain geographic sections of the City, not near them, it was okay, and likely "their" problem. Look around every major Democrat-led city across the country, and you'll find this "containment" strategy. You'll notice many of those upper-income, white progressives have also used conservation as a means of removing land from development, but usually it helps isolate them away from "them". And, if you're particular area has "good schools", and nice homes, you generally pay high taxes, which again is another barrier for many who can't afford to have those good schools.

Moral of the story: don't vote for "ladies with bad haircuts" if you want your local government to protect normal, law-abiding people. Reason: ladies with bad haircuts have a deep-seated animus for normal people and actually want to give other non-normal people "space to destroy" in order to give them/her cathartic pleasure at the pain they are causing normals.

Hmm. The process of taking urban slums and making them nice, and liveable was called 'gentrification' from the root word - gentry, which means "people of good social position, specifically (in the UK) the class of people next below the nobility in position and birth.". I would like to suggest "hooliganization" for what will be happening next? But perhaps the simpler "return to slums" is just as accurate.

BLM calls what they are doing to downtown Chicago as “Good Trouble” especially damaging business properties and looting and stealing retail merchandise, crimes that they are trying to conflate into being a sort of reparations for the slavery to took place in the South before the Civil War that ended about 1865. Now in the last couple of nights BLM supporters have been going through urban residential areas telling people that they must abandon their homes to Black people. The situation is so out of control it would be complete “fool’s gold” to believe that any Biden led Administration could get that crime situation under control, or even try, as Biden-Harris support BLM and their political aims. The far left Mayor of Chicago is falsely blaming President Trump for all the rioting and looting that has been going on in Chicago, claiming that a lack of much more stringent gun control measures are the cause of all the shootings in Chicago, as if the Black Chicago criminal and violent gangbangers who perpetrate the vast majority of the murders and shootings are suddenly going to abide by and obey any new gun control laws!

California electrical providers instituted rolling blackouts Friday night – the first since 2001–as an intense and prolonged heat wave settled over much of the Western U.S. Hundreds of thousands of people are believed to have experienced brief power outages through the evening, after the body that manages most of the state's electrical utilities declared a Stage 3 emergency to help reduce stress on the larger grid. Electrical demand surged through the day as temperatures topped the triple digits in many parts of the state and people cranked up fans and air conditioning units to try and stay cool. Yet despite the grim numbers, there is growing evidence that the surge in infections and fatalities that began when California reopened its economy in May is beginning to slow. In Los Angeles County, the effective transmission rate of the coronavirus is now about 0.86 — meaning that every one infected person passes the virus to an average of 0.86 other people. With Joe Biden’s photo metaphorically the definition of the 25th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, voters will decide in November whether they want Harris to be their president some time in the next four years.
