As the NBA and MLB return from their coronavirus-imposed hiatus, it appears TV viewers are not interested in what the increasingly woke leagues have to offer.
With both baseball and basketball draped in all sorts of Black Lives Matter and social justice symbolism for their opening games, a substantially smaller number of fans tuned-in to the rest of the week’s games.

I'm not and never have been a basketball fan, although there are some players I do like (Jordan, Stockton, Barkley) but I have been a HUGE fan of baseball ever since my baseball loving grandfather introduced me to it when I was just a little girl. I love going to baseball games. Of all the sports, it's the one that is the most fun to see in person. I love sitting in my seat with a big glass of lemonade, some nachos and just watching the game roll on in front of me. I've seen some good ones and it was always my dream to one day go to Wrigley Field to see the Cubs. No more. If I want a baseball fix, I'll watch my local minor league team. The MLB has lost this fan.

I'm not an NBA fan but I am acquainted with several people who are. They don't strike me as caring about the politicalization of sports. Valuing entertainment over principles, they are blind to the wider cultural implications of their support.
Once a guy wrote a book titled what's the matter with Kansas (voters, who voted Republican and supposedly against their own interests). What's the matter with sports fans? Can't they see their support right now is foolish beyond reasoning? I guess not.

NBA (and to a lesser extent, MLB) TV ratings are more accurate than election polls or approval ratings right now. They tell the real story of America's pulse right now.

...20 years from now Business Schools across the country will require their students to read the Case Study on " How The Massively Successful NFL, NBA, and MLB Committed Suicide"
How's this for a great Business Plan : Insult 90 % of your customer base by strongly implying THEY are now - and always have been - racists.
BUT...not to worry...your "League" is gonna fix this Historical injustice ... by parading and glorifying a bunch of street thugs ...who's only real skills are bouncing, throwing, catching, or hitting a ball ...which has allowed them to become whiny multi- millionaires ...while STILL claiming to be "victims"

Never was a fan of the NBA (except for a couple seasons when the Pistons--home team--were on top). Never all that hip to NFL. I always liked hearing the baseball games called, back when Ernie Harwell did the play by play here in Michigan. Later, not so much. But if these guys keep being woke, the ONLY think I'll cheer for is some bankruptcies. Put Ditka in charge of the NFL: and change things. Otherwise, NFL doesn't matter. None of those guys do.

The players have all the power and have plastered the stadium and even their jerseys with BLM ads. If the had actually investigated the BLM organization they would have uncovered its ties to Soros funded white Socialist NGOs and it's Marxist founders. What they will learn is that All Viewers Matter if you run a business dependent on ads.

You want and need fans? Then act like respectable people. Successful sports teams are made up of heroic people. When you back the causes that are harming us, or denigrate those who work to actually protect us, you aren't heroes. You are swaggering braggarts and hooligans, arrogant and engrossed in your own personal mythology. Your feet are sand. Your renown, forgotten. Your place in history, erased.

When I was a lot younger I used to be a fan of all the home teams, living or dying by each game. (On tv or radio, I didn't attend them!) One day it dawned on me; whether they win or lose, I didn't gain anything. No money, no fame, no adulation, no nothing! I already knew it was way too expensive to attend any pro game, so what was the point in concerning myself with them? The best I do now is sometimes look at the latest scores, but that is very seldom.

All things are possible with God I AM THAT I AM.
If you won't help God our Father, He won't help you.
Satan will help you especially if you are trying to be a Christian. Nothing pleases Satan more than to win another Christian over to worshiping him so he can flaunt another converted christian unrepentant sinner in the face of God our Father. In the end Satan will have all but God' very elect Christians a remnant of His creations, worshiping him Satan.

Forgetting the collective insult which are echoes of Obama's 'clinging to religion' and Hillary's 'deplorables' - without fans in the stands, why bother? These are silly puppet shows hoping not lose cable/TV money in the next contract round. I hope they all starve. I only feel sorry for the lost income to everyone else. I'd feel sorry for cities who have lost tax revenues but if they'd stood up against the BLM BS, we might not have come this far.

Years ago, when my 40 year old son was in his early teens and a huge Saints fan, the Saints lost (not uncommon back then) and the boy went out back to the woods behind the house and beat an expensive aluminum softball bat against a tree until it was pretty much flattened. I asked him if it changed the score or was the team awarded the win? He learned that all that happened was he got to replace that expensive bat with his money. Unless you're gambling on the games, nothing changes for you personally, whether they win or lose. He now spends his time doing things with his family. Lesson learned!

I hope the drop in ratings is a BLM backlash but it could also be that fans are not interested in what are destined to be asterisk seasons, especially for MLB. A 60 game baseball season feels like a drawn-out spring training.

Hard working everyday Americans are the life blood of this Nation, and they are not fools. Initially they give the benefit of the doubt to others, but eventually they see through false narratives (lies), scams, shakedowns, and veiled threats.
The phrase " Go woke, go broke" reflects the cancerous business model of weak CEOs blinded by fear, and hoping the threatening mob passes by their door. They will pay a heavy price much like Gillette when that company ran a series of ads insulting men a few years back.
Regular Americans are many, violent leftists are few. It is " time to stick a fork in the antifa/blm movement, call it done", "Hold a Wake for the Woke movement" and "get back to living life, liberty and pursuing our happiness"

I love baseball, but I also understand what baseball is. It is 30 teams with a 40 man roster each. 1200 players. None are indispensable. With very few exceptions most stunning plays and tremendous talents are forgot as soon as the season ends. Give it a few years and even the earthshaking moments, plays and players are largely forgotten. Baseball gods need to remember it is a slippery slope when you alienate your fans. Basketball is at that point. NBA Basketball is becoming a chinese communist party asset, and the chinese feel the American basketball consumer is unimportant. Can NBA players be replaced? Yep, easily. You won't even miss today's "stars".

Gee, guess the owners are learning that their employees are not their customer. Nothing kills profit like ignoring the real customer and catering to the whinny whims of employees. to quota Marshall, Fields, 'give the lady what she wants'. Same is true with sports fans. Obviously they don't want to be lectured to about thier systemic racism while supporting multi millionaire blacks.

Blacks are on a roll now with whites falling in line to help their cause by lies created in their minds. These teams in all venues will find out the hard way. Those BLM cop haters and in some cases cop killers is nothing to support. Sports is over to me my beloved baseball has fallen to it now. Maybe when the money dries up they will barter among themselves for trades and those millionaires will negotiate for 15k jobs because no one is watching. The half time at Super Bowl will be pet tricks by Trixie the cocker spaniel. I am not going to watch a MLB game with a BLM on the pitcher's mound and banners of BLM draped in the stands they'll forever play to cardboard cutouts for all I care.

So far, the only sport that seems to be avoiding the 'woke' problem is the NHL. Maybe because so many players are from Eastern Europe where communism reigned for so long. They know they aren't oppressed. They caught the brass ring and they won't jeopardize that for anything.

Many people have found other things to do, and they're still not able to go to a sports bar to watch either.
That many likely don't realize that those millions of dollars that were donated to BLM ended up funneled into ActBlu, which is an democrat activist group run by two white liberals, to be used for political purposes and not to help under-privileged communities.
Most don't likely know the Northern democrat party platform in 1864 was to end the Civil War, and let the South secede. This would have allowed the Southern States to retain slavery, as the new country would not have had to abide by the Emancipation Proclamation.
And, what about what LBJ was alleged to have said after signing of the Civil Right's Law?
Do many of them realize the white, liberal establishment has been running most of the major democrat cities for decades?

I was hopeful that the National Hockey League would stay out of the politics of white guilt promotion, as a number of their players are from European countries that were previous USSR satellite nations, and their families grew up experiencing communism on a daily basis. But, this weekend they made it clear that BLM is a major part of their Stanley Cup Playoff agenda, and for the first time one of their players took a knee during the playing of the US National Anthem, but stood for the Canadian anthem. He was a black Canadian playing on the Minnesota team, and was allowed to deliver a rant against all of the systemic racism in America to the TV audience. To hell with all of these overpaid game players who became millionaires due to the great American free enterprise system that they complain about.
