When the Duke and Duchess of Sussex dropped their "Megxit" bombshell seven months ago, all hell broke loose behind palace gates. With the couple having blindsided the Queen by releasing their shock sayonara on Instagram, aides were thrown into such a frenzy that there were reports of courtiers holding a phone to each ear in scenes akin to a trading floor at the height of a financial crash. Yet as The Firm's major shareholders take stock of the fallout from the serialisation of "Finding Freedom", a sympathetic biography of Harry and Meghan seemingly written with their blessing (something the couple have denied), the mood in the gilt-edged corridors of royal power appears

Meanwhile, Republicans are certain to defend his tenure as one aimed at restoring confidence in the Justice Department and the FBI after the Obama administration allegedly sought to subvert Trump’s 2016 campaign and presidency.

Joe Biden has a dilemma when it comes to choosing a running mate. The Democratic presidential nominee wants to pick someone who is like him (or at least the way he saw himself as vice president): loyal, trusted, experienced, apolitical, someone with whom he will bond. The first signs of worry emerged early Monday as some opponents of Trump, surveying the damage after a weekend of nationwide riots, began to worry openly if supporting “peaceful protests” in Portland, Oregon, would hurt Democrats.Led by former Vice President Joe Biden, Democrats have insisted that the riots targeting a federal courthouse and federal law enforcement officers in Portland are actually “peaceful.” They have been supported by media that downplays violence committed by the “protesters” and highlights anything the officers do to defend themselves or to disperse the crowd. The Democrats have also demonized federal law enforcement

Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) introduced a bill Thursday that would ban federal funds for teaching the New York Times’s revisionist “1619 Project,” which claims America was founded on slavery. The Saving American History Act of 2020 asserts America was founded on July 4, 1776, when its fundamental principles were set forth in the Declaration of Independence. The bill continues: An activist movement is now gaining momentum to deny or obfuscate this history by claiming that America was not founded on the ideals of the Declaration but rather on slavery and oppression. This distortion of American history is being taught to children in public school classrooms

I want to focus on just one of those references to alleged white supremacy: Median incomes are lower and poverty rates are higher for Black Americans, Latinos, Native Americans, and some Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders, compared to median white households. Justice Gorsuch wrote a one-paragraph dissent attacking the Supreme Court’s decision to reject a Nevada church’s emergency application. What should be more important than a pithy dissent, though, is the Supreme Court’s – and, more specifically, Chief Justice Roberts's -- appalling behavior. It is another reminder of how desperately important it is to return President Trump to the White House.
