Stephen Silbiger was the chief legislative aide to Congressman Stephen J. Solarz of Brooklyn. He also was the lobbyist for the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) and was the Washington Representative for the American Jewish Congress. He currently is practicing law in Washington, D.C. In the article below, which he submitted to Power Line, Stephen recounts his interaction, as a lobbyist, with Joe Biden. The article documents some of Biden’s well known flaws, and reveals some that, I believe, are less known.Michael Kinsley, who is one of the most perceptive observers of American politics, once said that a gaffe occurs in Washington

A fair weather union "friend". Where was all of this when it happened? Of course, it wasn't politically expedient to tell the truth about Biden then. He didn't throw him under the bus when money was at stake.

Not all American people are stupid. Stupid means you know better than to do something but do it anyway. Ignorance means you know nothing of that which you speak and just blather off something, anything, that you think the stupid people want to hear. Like Social Justice or Progressive Socialism instead of Marxist Communism which is being fostered upon the American people by traitors to America working to destroy America from within. Little do they know they are being led down the street to full fledged Marxist Communism taking control of America along with the entire world via the One World Government which they call New World Order. All Christians especially should know that God told everyone that this would happen and it would almost succeed except for the fact that He gave people the power to think freely of freedom over the tyranny of Marxist Communism. Then the return of Jesus with the destruction of all flesh bodies as we are transformed into our spiritual bodies and all who profess belief in God and Jesus are judged. All others are already judged by their life of non belief and condemned to the death of their soul as God states in His Holy Bible.

I believe the reason Biden was for the Balanced Budget Amendment was that it would give the Congress the ability to easily raise taxes to confiscatory levels. At the time voters wanted, and still do, a Tax Limitation Amendment that restrains the Congress from raising taxes to a confiscatory limit. Practically speaking, by essentially limiting low income earners from income taxes, the Congress has found an ideal platform. Elimination of the payroll tax would complete the picture. At that point, a low income earner, whatever is the definition has no skin in the game. If we had a universal basic income, then their skin in the game is to raise taxes on the rich. In the short run, it would appear beneficial. In the long run, society loses as there is no financial benefit in taking risk. Without such an incentive, innovation slowly dies.

Interesting article. Yes, the information about Biden is good, but knowing that Mirengoff fought AGAINST the Balanced Budget Amendment helps me understand his NeverTrump view better. And he seems unapologetic about that horrible political position, all these years later. We might be in far better condition as a nation, had the Balanced Budget Amendment been passed. And, yes, it would have caused huge disruptions in the growth of federal power and federal programs. I would STILL call those good things, regardless of the short term 'distruptions'. I can see Mirengoff's Deep State roots more clearly now.

Remember when Joseph Biden was getting awards from the likes of George Wallace and hobnobbing with the old Southern Democrat segregationist Senators in DC, that Donald Trump was in New York City getting awards from the NAACP and other Black community and social groups. The so-called mainstream (liberal) media will never report those historical facts.

Paris climate treaty

Here we are in the midst of a once-in-a-half-century pandemic, with the economy flattened, millions of people unemployed, and unrest on the streets of our cities. And President-elect Joe Biden says that one of his highest priorities as president will be to reenter the Paris climate accord. President Trump kept his "put America first" promise and pulled the United States out of this Obama-era treaty. Biden wants us back in. Why? Paris is an unmitigated failure. You don't have to take my word for it. National Geographic, a supporter of climate change action, recently ran the numbers and admitted in its recent headline: "Most countries aren't hitting 2030 climate goals."

Teachers unions have been instrumental in keeping American schools online during the pandemic. But some have escalated their positions on reopening to include an array of social justice demands. A set of demands from teachers unions in July, which addressed how to safely reopen schools amid a pandemic, was criticized by The Wall Street Journal editorial board as “political extortion.” The board argued that unions were taking advantage of a health crisis to advance their own ideological agendas and to eliminate competition from charter schools.

Why do we do this to ourselves every four years? We talk incessantly about the latest poll in Florida and Michigan and Pennsylvania and Arizona until we are blue in the face. Then they turn out to be wildly wrong. When will we ever learn? It reminds me of that old saying which I think was from Einstein, “The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.” Polling, at least the old-school style, is over. Done. I don’t need to go through a long list of reasons why nobody should take pollsters seriously anymore, but a few data points are instructive.
Implications of the Flynn Pardon 11 replies

President Trump granted a pardon to Michael Flynn, his former national-security adviser, today. Flynn had pled guilty to lying to FBI agents about conversations, during the 2016 transition, with the Russian ambassador about sanctions. Flynn’s pardon should bring to an end one gross violation of the Constitution’s separation of powers, even as it gives rise to groundless accusations of another. Although Flynn had pled guilty, the circumstances of the case had raised serious concerns about whether the government had proceeded properly. The FBI, for example, questioned Flynn even though it did not appear he had violated any law. In May, Attorney General William Barr ordered the case dropped.

The first Thanksgiving in the New World was celebrated in 1621, nearly a year after the Pilgrims landed at Plymouth. In 1789, George Washington became the first of many US presidents to formally proclaim a day of “public thanksgiving and prayer”: I do recommend and assign Thursday, the 26th day of November next, to be devoted by the people of these States to the service of that great and glorious Being who is the beneficent author of all the good that was, that is, or that will be; that we may then all unite in rendering unto Him

Minnesota is one of a number of states that are living under what amounts to martial law. Our proto-fascist dictator Tim Walz, in his latest edict, purports to ban traditional Thanksgiving get-togethers: Saturday, Nov. 21 through Friday, Dec. 18, Executive Order 20-99 requires all Minnesotans to: * Limit social gatherings to one household. * Not gather outside of your household. * Postpone all celebrations, events, receptions, and parties, including any social gatherings for weddings and funerals. So it is “illegal” for me to invite any of my four kids to Thanksgiving dinner.

The U.S. Supreme Court on Wednesday night blocked New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo from reimposing strict attendance caps at worship services in areas hit hard by the novel coronavirus. The court ruled 5-4 to bar Cuomo from enforcing his Oct. 6 “Cluster Initiative” against houses of worship that sued to challenge the restrictions. The order was also the first in which Justice Amy Coney Barrett played a decisive role. Barrett, who was President Trump's third Supreme Court nominee, joined the court Oct. 27, after winning Senate confirmation following the Sept. 18 death of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

Even as President Trump battles uphill to overturn the results of the recent presidential election, faces familiar during the earlier Age of Obama are reappearing in President-elect-apparent Biden’s pantheon of power. The looming Biden era promises to be Obama 3.0 — Hillary Clinton in 2016 was to be Obama 2.0, but new models don’t always live up to the original (see Windows Vista). Biden had resisted the move, despite the purchases funding Vladimir Putin’s deadly Ukraine invasion, worried it would further boost gas prices (and further tank his polling). But he’s doing plenty to jack up prices through his policies here at home. The regs, aimed at cutting nitrogen oxide and carbon pollution, will make life harder not only for working-class truck and bus drivers,
