Sports fans in Michigan who are expecting a return to normal in the months ahead from a coronavirus shutdown received some disappointing news Tuesday from Gov. Gretchen Whitmer.
“Life’s going to be different,” Whitmer said, referring to the state’s eventual emergence from her virus-response order. “We’re not going to be filling stadiums in the fall.”

Even Nero understood “Bread and Circus” as a big morale-booster for the ancient Romans. How this politically club-footed woman won the governorship is a mystery to me.

Opening court arguments start Friday for her illegal use of power.. the legislature did not extend her emergency power last April 30- and she is closing fall sports?
How is that possible? There must be big money in the Dem party hurt by the closing of sports.. Hope pressure mounts to dismiss this tyrant..
Can you imagine if she was VP or President?
Scary.. I call her a Witchmer now..

I guess it's a good thing the Ohio State-Michigan game is in Columbus in 2020. They'd have to forfeit instead of lose this year. O-H...

#5 Whitmer’s election is no mystery at all. She won in Detroit and Ann Arbor. The rest of the state despises her.

To be perfectly honest, I am not sure I would want to go, but as time goes on things could change and this virus could play out.
Who Knows?
But one thing i do know, the decision should be mine.

Close the state down and ask for a federal bail out.
Is she going to stop cars at the state line and keep people from traveling thru Michigan.

Sorry for second post- I left state last week and am now home.. no she can’t stop us from leaving- nor can she take our constitutional rights away.. she is not acting on legal authority, just perceived power. I will defy her at every step of way..
Detroit is 52% of population.. plus the cemetery vote. A lot of shenanigans happening..

Hopefully, the NCAA will allow play. Red state Universities play, while blue state do not. It will be a beautiful thing! Retired from UT here in Austin. My co-working buddies are still off with full pay and no return date in site. Didn’t we flatten the curve? Let’s not flatten the economy. This is now dirty politics in an effort to defeat Trump. It’s pure evil!

Dr. Doom (Fauci), is already predicting a second wave in the Fall. The Dems are going to keep whipping this buggy until the wheels come off. Or until Pelosi can extort enough money from the Feds to pay ll Blue States Unfunded Liabilities.

Whitless's dictates threaten not only Michigan football, but all of the Big Ten universities because fans in the stands and huge TV contracts underwrites very much of everything else that happens at these universities, not to mention the NCAA and CFB, but also ABC, CBS, NBC, ESPN, etc.
She'll have time to "re-think" her prophecies.

Whitmer won in Michigan in the normal democrat way - she made a promise and didn't bother to keep it. When democrats do this to their supporters several hundred times they finally catch on. Unfortunately most people don't live that long.

Michigan doesn't have a monopoly on sports venues. But for so many lovely people there, who needs it?? I just remembered Battle Creek. What a Trump Rally that was. Can't let one commie bastid ant spoil the picnic

Detroit voters may control the state, but with the auto industry trying to return to the city, as well as the freedoms she's denying Detroit's citizens, along with the rest of the state, I think she's committing political suicide.

No football! How are all her constituents of color going to take this? They make up the majority of players in both major college teams and the NFL. How to showcase their talents? Will they stand for this?

Sounds like Benito Whitmer is feeling her oats again. She is loving her absolute power so much she can't help projecting it into an unknown future. Her physical resemblance to Faye Dunaway in Dunaway's portrayal of Joan Crawford in Mommie Dearest and her Nurse Ratchet persona makes my skin crawl.

No sympathy for you Michigan voters. You exercised your right to vote and you elected this brutal faced commie dictatoress of a governor, and don't say you didn't realize what you were doing at the time..
As the old saying goes actions have consequences and you made your totalitarian bed now sleep in it.

I just heard that she revoked the license of the Owosso barber who opened up ahead of her granting him permission. I hope he continues to ply his trade, and I wonder how she will enforce her latest spiteful punishment for engaging in ordinary human activity. Will state and local cops actually arrest this guy for cutting hair? The sheriffs won't, but will the state cops act as stormtroopers for a self-styled despot? I hope not.
What we need now is widespread civil disobedience. How can the Red Queen enforce her diktats if no one listens to her anymore?

#31 -- you are just as ruthless as any leftist when you suggest that everyone in Michigan rightly suffers for the folly of others. Millions of Michiganders voted against her. This is an object lesson for everyone, everywhere. Your username makes it even more galling that you're on your high horse.

A lot of married a Karen and the misinformation about the dangers of the virus, hiding the true numbers, will take a toll.
On the plus side, I'll be able to get tickets cheap.

Stand firm Gretchen. This will be an excellent lesson for football fans in Detroit. As uneven as the Lions are, they are a bright spot for that city, Ann Arbor, that is poetic. Ann Arbor is a machine built on a gigantic stadium for it's University of Michigan football team. 110,000 children are going to get a great lesson in liberalism. The largest stadium in the United States is a wonderful place for a spotlight on what happens when you love rats and believe everything on TV. Hey kids, I'll bet yout news sources, the late night 'comics' will have some funny jokes about no football in Michigan. Actually, the joke is on you, but sometimes you do get what you vote for.

The witch can also apparently see into the future. Even as the rest of the country is starting to open up, she’s going to keep doubling down. No, sports is not everything. But it’s one more instance of Governor Karen taking all joy from the citizens as she imposes her politically-driven, sadistic will. “Science” has nothing to do with it.
