Last fall, as the House impeachment wave was building, I asked a gathering of 10 friends what they thought of President Trump’s prospects. Only six were Trump voters in 2016, but the group was unanimous on two points: The president would not be convicted by the Senate and would be re-elected in 2020.
Because the world has been turned upside down since then, I wanted an update from the same group. All successful New Yorkers, they are active in business, philanthropy and politically astute.

As much as I love NYC, the people who inhabit the city are not going to help make and difference in the election.
AOC won her district with only 10,000 votes in a highly dense population. Look at who they voted in as Mayor. New Yorkers are basically ignoramuses and Republicans are few and far between. President Trump won't need New York City to get reelected.
However, the election we should make an effort to get is Senator Kirsten Gillibrand. That one is very doable.

Goodwin, evidently your office cubicle is not next to Mike Walsh's. He just reported (see L.Com's Sunday Must Reads), the exact opposite and believes a Bite Me/Moochie ticket is all but guaranteed.

I wouldn't consider NY a bellweather for the November election. A state that elects Schumer, Gillibrand, DeBlasio, AOC, Cuomo and didn't go for Trump in 2016, is unlikely to do so in 2020. Virus or no virus.

The country is breaking into 2 whole new demographics - the ones with the resources to stay at home until they are sure everything is safe - whenever that may be - and the ones who have lost their jobs, are furloughed, are facing economic hardships and want things to open up. They are the new populist movement. The election will be determined by who leads them and I am guessing it will be Trump.

Pelosi, Schiff and Schumer are a trifecta for Trump winning a second term. What have any of those three done to find a solution, if there is one? If you are not part of the solution, you are the problem. We have reknown doctors and scientists working feverishly to curtail this virus. The 'Rats continue to carp with no solution in mind. They are as deadly as the virus.

I am tired of hearing Trump didn't react quick enough. He did more things to slow this than any other leader of any other country, doing so while the Chicoms were lying about the situation and being ridiculed when he took action.

"All successful New Yorkers", the enclave of elitists who, with California, gave Hillary the popular vote. When states are warped to the Left this badly it drags all the population with it. Thus you get kinda Republicans like Schwarzenegger and Weld and Rummey.
It's all the same old whine, Trump is too combative. Yet there has been a nonstop, corrupt, illegal assault against him since before he was elected by dems/media/Left and all Trump does is point out that they are lying, which is demonstrably true. Even in this time of national crisis, the assault group is eager to prioritize "getting Trump" before the national welfare. Isn't it important that when the media/dems lie about what is happening that Trump call them out? The people who are attacking Trump are doing things that endanger our great Country. They are continually getting more vicious because Trump has been so effective and HAS fought back. Republicans in general have been intimidated by the media and tiptoed around Washington because they were afraid of getting the type of treatment that Trump has received and be made ineffectual and hounded from office. Trump refuses to fall at their feet and they HATE him for it with a maddening passion.
So yeah, Trump will win, BECAUSE he fights for the American People, even the whiners and the dems who are too dumb or obnoxious to realize it.

New York City is lost. Goodwin says none of his supposed Trump supporters enjoy listening to the President and one of them even is thinking to vote for Biden depending on running mate (lemme guess, yes as long as it's Hillary or Michele). Goodwin needs new friends.
