China appears to be taking advantage of the USS Theodore Roosevelt being crippled by the coronavirus by sending an aircraft carrier and fighter jets close to Taiwan over the weekend. Taiwan's Defense Ministry said the Liaoning, China's first operational aircraft carrier, and five accompanying warships passed first through the Miyako Strait, located between Japan's islands of Miyako and Okinawa, to the northeast of Taiwan, on Saturday.(Snip) The Liaoning, which can carry up to 24 J-15 fighter jets, is currently the only aircraft carrier active in the western Pacific.

According to the Daily Mail news story, the USS Roosevelt and USS Ronald Reagan are the only two US carriers in the Pacific, but both have been forced to dock due to confirmed coronavirus cases onboard, which effectively gives China free range in the region.

No way should that Captain be reinstated to the command of that aircraft carrier. He abandoned its assigned station, unbelievably saying, "we are not at war." Well, the Chinese just showed you that they don't agree. They just moved in and took control of your station.
We better wake up. And we better get back to putting people in command who do realize we are indeed at war. It's just that the shooting hasn't started yet.

Sure glad I never served with or under anyone here. I'd just be another nameless, faceless, forgotten corpse put in the ground for nothing.

As far as the Captain of the USS Theodore Roosevelt is concerned, he was experienced enough to know that the combat ready status of a deployed aircraft carrier is classified national security information. When he passed his letter to 20-30 friends, one or more who leaked that national security information to a San Francisco newspaper, that Captain was dead wrong and committed a national security violation. Now it is being reported in a foreign newspaper that the Chinese Communist Navy is taking advantage of the fact that the Roosevelt had to evacuate its crew, and currently is not able to sail and is not combat ready. Today media reports indicate that Chief of Naval Operations has not ruled out reinstating the Captain of the Roosevelt?

#8- It is not without compassion and understanding for Navy Captain Brett Crozier that such a seemingly hard line attitude prevails for the decision made to go public on behalf of the safety and well-being of his crew, it is the danger he put his crew, ship, and country in by disclosing a serious, debilitating situation that should have been highly classified.
Beyond Captain Crozier, there is compassion for Acting Navy Secretary Thomas Modly for having erred in his decision to berate Captain Crozier that resulted in ending his career.
If the “rule of law” is disregarded at every level of our government and country, America’s future will be in extreme peril. There are times when intellect must prevail over emotion, and this most unfortunate circumstance is evidence of that necessity—the safety of the crew, the ship, and this country, were put in harm’s way.

We are in no mood to be taking any flak from China, it just might cause itchy trigger fingers. We can reach out and touch them from a long, long way off.

What a good little commie demonrat national security traitor that ship captain is as well as that subversive Navy Admiral. That subversive captain signaled to China that they're free to roam the seas and threaten Taiwan again and the subversive Admiral is backing him up. Good going commies. Note to PT: Fire the Admiral too.

On April 2, 2020, Acting Navy Secretary Thomas Modly relieved Navy Captain Brett Crozier of the USS Theodore Roosevelt for leaking a letter to the media about his crew and concern regarding he coronavirus that went outside the chain of command, which “raised concerns about the operational security and operational capability of that ship that could have emboldened our adversaries to seek advantage...” Subsequently, Modly resigned. On April 9, 2020 Fox News reported that, following an internal investigation, Chief of Naval Operations Admiral Michael Gilday said “all options are on the table,” and he is not ruling out reinstating Captain Brett Crozier to his position.
