Acting Navy Secretary Thomas Modly’s trip to the coronavirus-stricken USS Theodore Roosevelt last weekend cost him his job, a two-week quarantine — and the American taxpayer a reported $243,000. The United States shelled out the big bucks to send Modly out to the ship docked in Guam, where he badmouthed fired Capt. Brett Crozier in a speech to his former crew, according to a trip cost estimate reported by USA Today. Modly flew aboard a Gulfstream business jet modified for military use with per-hour cost of flying at $6,946.19 per hour, a Navy official told the outlet.

How is it we never see a breakdown on how much Nastys trips cost the American taxpayer?

And what about all of the trips that Our Dear Reader and his clan took? Don’t remember a price breakdown on a single one of those excursions...

Strange to see the detailed breakdown of cost when nothing was ever tallied on President Light Loafers and his clan. Make Modly pay it back out of his first retirement check it's is likely with his time and grade to at least total that.

He should have been required to fly in a C-130, and by the time he got there he'd be so exhausted he would probably not been so mean spirited. Lost in the United States today is the sense of protocol, especially in the military/civilian ranks. Clinton and Obama so totally politicized the Pentagon that it's a miracle we still exist as a nation.

Interesting that we can't get the Air Force to provide the taxpayers the cost for Hunter Biden to fly with dad on government aircraft. I guess government employees don't know how to tele-conference. Agree with #2.

If he simply didn't say the Captain was stupid and naive, he would never have been fired, IMO. The cost is the cost, and yes, it seems like a lot, but in the scheme of things it's not. Wondering, does Nancy have that 737 she used back in 2007 when she first became speaker? Is she using it again as her personal transportation back and forth from SF to DC?

This episode has been a tragedy for our Naval Service. A good Naval Officer made a really bad judgment, creating a PR sh!tstorm for the Navy, and was justifiably relieved of command. A apparently good Acting SECNAV made an equally bad judgment in commenting on the competence of the Naval Officer, and resigned. I hope that our Navy can sail through this mess . . . Good. He didn't deserve the job if he didn't grasp that you don't talk trash about the grunts superior officers. The average soldier/sailor/Marine is a very loyal creature. Now the media and the Pentagon need to stop with the double standards and start reporting the cost breakdowns for all those who use the military aircraft as transportation.

President Donald Trump attended Sunday’s Game 5 of the World Series at Nationals Park, but he wasn’t the recipient of a warm welcome. Not even close. Trump, who did not arrive in time for the national anthem or first pitch, was shown on the videoboard ahead of the fourth inning during a Salute to Veterans in-game segment. The crowd immediately responded by booing Trump loudly. After initially boing Trump, the crowd continued into a “lock him up” chant. Trump is the subject of an impeachment inquiry by the House of Representatives.

When Ukrainians voted to elect comedian Volodymyr Zelenskiy as their next president in the spring of 2019, the fledgling administration was eager to coordinate a phone call with Kyiv’s most important benefactor -- the United States, according to an adviser to Zelenskiy. But after weeks of discussions with American officials, Ukrainian officials came to recognize a precondition to any executive correspondence, the adviser said."It was clear that [President Donald] Trump will only have communications if they will discuss the Biden case," said Serhiy Leshchenko an anti-corruption advocate and former member of Ukraine's Parliament, who now acts as an adviser to Zelenskiy.

Satellite photos indicate North Korea is building a ballistic missile submarine and may be making preparations to test a submarine-launched missile, according to an analysis of the commercial images by experts at a Washington-based think tank. The photos of Sinpo South Shipyard taken Monday appear to confirm reports by North Korean state media of a “newly built submarine” inspected by the country’s leader, Kim Jong Un, in July, according to Joseph Bermudez and Victor Cha of Beyond Parallel, a research project funded by the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS).

President Donald Trump is claiming without evidence that expanding mail-in voting will increase voter fraud. But several GOP state officials are forging ahead to do just that, undermining one of Trump’s arguments about how elections should be conducted amid the coronavirus outbreak. While Trump has complained that voting by mail is “ripe for fraud,” Republican state officials in Iowa, Ohio and West Virginia have all taken steps to ease access to mail-in ballots, following health officials’ warnings that voting in person can risk transmission of the deadly virus. The Nebraska’s Republican governor urged voters to apply for absentee ballots.
Dump Biden: Majority of Democrats Want

In this unprecedented election year, everything is on the table and nothing should be taken for granted. In that vein, the idea of replacing the leading Democratic candidate for president is not as far-fetched as it normally would be. Joe Biden was the nominal choice of Democrats to become the party's nominee. But as Biden struggles to remain relevant during the coronavirus pandemic, and Bernie Sanders supporters lick their wounds, many Democrats are casting about desperately looking for an alternative. A majority think they've found one in New York Governor Andrew Cuomo.

PBS’s Yamiche Alcindor has distinguished herself as one of the media figures most engaged in the “gotcha” game at COVID-19 press conferences, especially when she can work race into the issue. On Friday, after the Surgeon General made a direct plea to minorities about behaviors that can protect them, she went on the attack. (snip) Was Adams telling only minorities to avoid alcohol, tobacco, and drugs? Showing enormous restraint (many would have rolled their eyeballs at that question), Adams said that his statement had been directed, not to everyone, but to those communities hardest hit. He agreed, though, that everyone should make healthy lifestyle choices to help fight the virus.

I think people are going to be more aware of that, too,” Democratic strategist James Carville told The Post.Biden has promised to choose a woman as his running mate, but beyond that, the field remains wide open with a dizzying array of candidates

The costs of the pandemic keep piling up. Hundreds of millions of Americans are on lockdown, a record 16.8 million have filed unemployment claims, nearly 15,000 Americans have died so far and the death toll is growing exponentially by the day. Congress has passed three coronavirus relief bills totaling $2.3 trillion, and more might soon be in the works. Somebody has to pay for this unprecedented damage. That somebody should be the government of China. No one can blame Beijing for a viral outbreak beyond its control. But the Chinese communist regime should be blamed — and held legally liable —

Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., has urged President Trump to reverse a reported plan to block an Iranian request to the IMF for $5 billion in aid to fight the coronavirus crisis -- saying it is in the U.S. national interest to accede to the request. “I am disappointed to see reports that your administration intends to block Iran from receiving $5 billion in humanitarian aid from the IMF to combat the coronavirus pandemic,” Feinstein wrote in a letter dated Thursday to President Trump. “Providing these funds to Iran would help it respond more effectively to the disease and mitigate the risk of further destabilization in the region.”

That this happened in the United States chills me. In both China and our country, the individuals being removed resisted the authorities, but they were ultimately defenseless against a small army of state enforcers.

If Jesus Christ came back today, his return would stream live on Twitter, come with Facebook posts, a video on Instagram and its own TikTok. But would we even believe it? Never have we had so much access to so much information. Never have we believed so little of it. Technology, and the politicization of something as innocuous as a sunrise, has draped skepticism over all of it. To answer this question I turned to a most trusted friend, Rev. Eric Youngdahl, pastor of the House of Prayer Lutheran Church near Houston.over all of it.
