Acting Navy Secretary Thomas Modly’s trip to the coronavirus-stricken USS Theodore Roosevelt last weekend cost him his job, a two-week quarantine — and the American taxpayer a reported $243,000. The United States shelled out the big bucks to send Modly out to the ship docked in Guam, where he badmouthed fired Capt. Brett Crozier in a speech to his former crew, according to a trip cost estimate reported by USA Today.
Modly flew aboard a Gulfstream business jet modified for military use with per-hour cost of flying at $6,946.19 per hour, a Navy official told the outlet.

How is it we never see a breakdown on how much Nastys trips cost the American taxpayer?

He should have been forced out for blatant waste

And what about all of the trips that Our Dear Reader and his clan took? Don’t remember a price breakdown on a single one of those excursions...

Strange to see the detailed breakdown of cost when nothing was ever tallied on President Light Loafers and his clan.
Make Modly pay it back out of his first retirement check it's is likely with his time and grade to at least total that.

He should have been required to fly in a C-130, and by the time he got there he'd be so exhausted he would probably not been so mean spirited. Lost in the United States today is the sense of protocol, especially in the military/civilian ranks. Clinton and Obama so totally politicized the Pentagon that it's a miracle we still exist as a nation.

Interesting that we can't get the Air Force to provide the taxpayers the cost for Hunter Biden to fly with dad on government aircraft. I guess government employees don't know how to tele-conference. Agree with #2.

They should have dropped him off over the Marianas Trench.

If he simply didn't say the Captain was stupid and naive, he would never have been fired, IMO.
The cost is the cost, and yes, it seems like a lot, but in the scheme of things it's not.
Wondering, does Nancy have that 737 she used back in 2007 when she first became speaker? Is she using it again as her personal transportation back and forth from SF to DC?

I would have sent in a Cessna tail-dragger with a parachute.

This episode has been a tragedy for our Naval Service. A good Naval Officer made a really bad judgment, creating a PR sh!tstorm for the Navy, and was justifiably relieved of command. A apparently good Acting SECNAV made an equally bad judgment in commenting on the competence of the Naval Officer, and resigned. I hope that our Navy can sail through this mess . . .

I question any cost estimate generated by people working for a newspaper.

Good. He didn't deserve the job if he didn't grasp that you don't talk trash about the grunts superior officers. The average soldier/sailor/Marine is a very loyal creature. Now the media and the Pentagon need to stop with the double standards and start reporting the cost breakdowns for all those who use the military aircraft as transportation.
