In the Chinese city of Wuhan, the wet market that spawned the pandemic which has brought the world to its knees now slumbers quietly behind a tidy-looking blue-and-white partition. But there are ample clues that something toxic once lurked inside the Huanan Seafood Market -- police tape, chest-high red barriers, and staff in head-to-toe white hazmat suits lugging equipment. (Snip) A price list issued by one merchant at the sprawling emporium, which circulated on China's internet in January, contained a smorgasbord of exotic wildlife including civets, rats, snakes, giant salamanders and even live wolf pups. Markets such as this are the

That wild animal market only existed because it it a facet of age old Chinese culture. It is going to be very hard for the Chinese government to stomp those cultural based markets out of existence and chances are the markets will become “black markets” long before they disappear for good.

Seriously! We need to cut the ropes tying us to Red China! They need us FAR more than we need them! I’ll pay the higher price for American-made!

Here is an excellent article about the wet markets and why some Chinese eat these animals. And why these markets and other outlets will not stay closed for long?
"'Animals live for man': China's appetite for wildlife likely to survive virus”
HONG KONG/BEIJING (Reuters) - For the past two weeks China’s police have been raiding houses, restaurants and makeshift markets across the country, arresting nearly 700 people for breaking the temporary ban on catching, selling or eating wild animals.
The scale of the crackdown, which has netted almost 40,000 animals including squirrels, weasels and boars, suggests that China’s taste for eating wildlife and using animal parts for medicinal purposes is not likely to disappear overnight, despite potential links to the new coronavirus.
Traders legally selling donkey, dog, deer, crocodile and other meat told Reuters they plan to get back to business as soon as the markets reopen.

Although the government has temporarily closed them, it may not be totally successful. As another poster Replied, a cultural thing.

Yes, #6, a root, China is a medieval society, with medieval medical concepts, and medieval eating habits. But we are supposed to believe that they are very advanced, very civilized, the height of modernity in every way.
Yucch! Disgusting habits.

To #1, it certainly is not, to speak the facts with reasonable personal opinion is how one learns. At least for me, globalism has never been a smart idea. If it were, we would be in much the same fix as other nations. If other peoples turn to the US as often as they do, we must also certainly be doing something correct.

So, Xi, and China, let's try this one more time. How did the virus "escape" your Wuhan lab? What is the mission of your Wuhan lab? Why was the virus present at your lab? Did you synthesize the virus yourselves or did you receive a sample illegally from another lab such as the National Microbiology Laboratory in Winnipeg Canada? What was the purpose for having/creating the virus in the first place? As a bioweapon against the world, perhaps? When can the world expect the Wuhan lab to be incinerated along with its contents?
