Wuhan's virus ground-zero

In the Chinese city of Wuhan, the wet market that spawned the pandemic which has brought the world to its knees now slumbers quietly behind a tidy-looking blue-and-white partition. But there are ample clues that something toxic once lurked inside the Huanan Seafood Market -- police tape, chest-high red barriers, and staff in head-to-toe white hazmat suits lugging equipment. (Snip) A price list issued by one merchant at the sprawling emporium, which circulated on China's internet in January, contained a smorgasbord of exotic wildlife including civets, rats, snakes, giant salamanders and even live wolf pups. Shouldn't a crime scene be left undisturbed? The UN, WHO, etc... remain silent as China scrubs away the source of the pandemic.

Is it racist to say the Chinese eat sickening and disgusting crap? Sorry, but these people are sick—and I am sick and tired of getting g diseases year after year from these people.

That wild animal market only existed because it it a facet of age old Chinese culture. It is going to be very hard for the Chinese government to stomp those cultural based markets out of existence and chances are the markets will become “black markets” long before they disappear for good.

Here is an excellent article about the wet markets and why some Chinese eat these animals. And why these markets and other outlets will not stay closed for long? "'Animals live for man': China's appetite for wildlife likely to survive virus” HONG KONG/BEIJING (Reuters) - For the past two weeks China’s police have been raiding houses, restaurants and makeshift markets across the country, arresting nearly 700 people for breaking the temporary ban on catching, selling or eating wild animals. The scale of the crackdown, which has netted almost 40,000 animals including squirrels, weasels and boars, suggests that China’s taste for eating wildlife and using animal parts for medicinal purposes is not likely to disappear overnight, despite potential links to the new coronavirus. Traders legally selling donkey, dog, deer, crocodile and other meat told Reuters they plan to get back to business as soon as the markets reopen. More here: https://www.reuters.com/article/us-china-health-wildlife/animals-live-for-man-chinas-appetite-for-wildlife-likely-to-survive-virus-idUSKBN20A0RK Although the government has temporarily closed them, it may not be totally successful. Yes, #6, a root, China is a medieval society, with medieval medical concepts, and medieval eating habits. But we are supposed to believe that they are very advanced, very civilized, the height of modernity in every way. Yucch! Disgusting habits.

To #1, it certainly is not, to speak the facts with reasonable personal opinion is how one learns. At least for me, globalism has never been a smart idea. If it were, we would be in much the same fix as other nations. If other peoples turn to the US as often as they do, we must also certainly be doing something correct.

So, Xi, and China, let's try this one more time. How did the virus "escape" your Wuhan lab? What is the mission of your Wuhan lab? Why was the virus present at your lab? Did you synthesize the virus yourselves or did you receive a sample illegally from another lab such as the National Microbiology Laboratory in Winnipeg Canada? What was the purpose for having/creating the virus in the first place? As a bioweapon against the world, perhaps? When can the world expect the Wuhan lab to be incinerated along with its contents?

Michigan now ranks third in the country for coronavirus-related deaths, trailing only New York and New Jersey, after the Midwest state on Tuesday reported a new surge of cases. State officials confirmed another 1,117 cases, bringing the coronavirus tally in Michigan to 7,615. Officials on Tuesday said the virus claimed the lives of 75 more people, pushing up the number of COVID-19 fatalities to 259. More than 80% of total cases are in the three populous Detroit metro-area counties of Oakland, Macomb and Wayne. Gov. Gretchen Whitmer last week ordered all of the state's nearly 10 million residents to stay

After passing the largest economic relief bill in history, Congress is now considering staying away from Washington for a month or more as the coronavirus makes even the routine act of legislating a dangerous risk for new transmissions. Officially, Congress is scheduled to come back on April 20 as lawmakers try to avoid traveling and congregating amid the raging crisis and as they plot a potential fourth phase of economic relief. Unofficially, it could take even longer for Congress to physically come back into session. And longer still for things to return to anywhere near normal on Capitol Hill, where

Macy’s said the majority of its employees will be furloughed beginning this week as it copes with significant sales losses during the coronavirus pandemic. The retailer declined to say how many employees will be affected by the furloughs. It said it’s lost most of its sales, even as it remains open online, and that’s why cost cuts are necessary. Macy’s is one of dozens of retailers that have been forced to close stores to slow the spread of the coronavirus in the U.S. All of its stores have been closed since March 18, and it has not decided when it

MOUNT VERNON, Wash. — With the coronavirus quickly spreading in Washington state in early March, leaders of the Skagit Valley Chorale debated whether to go ahead with weekly rehearsal. The virus was already killing people in the Seattle area, about an hour’s drive to the south. On March 6, Adam Burdick, the choir’s conductor, informed the 121 members in an email that amid the “stress and strain of concerns about the virus,” practice would proceed as scheduled at

Former Vice President Joe Biden has emerged as Democrats’ top choice for the presidential nomination in a new ABC News/Washington Post poll, but with only bare majority support within his party and a massive enthusiasm gap in a November matchup against President Donald Trump. Indeed, strong enthusiasm for Biden among his supporters – at just 24% – is the lowest on record for a Democratic presidential candidate in 20 years of ABC/Post polls. More than twice as many of Trump’s supporters are highly enthusiastic about supporting him, 53%. Trump’s still-strong rating on the economy is another challenge for Biden. So

A Rhode Island public school teacher perhaps gave that chestnut a new meaning by allegedly taking to Twitter with an offer to pay someone infected with COVID-19 to cough on President Trump.
