Dr Anthony Fauci has been caught smirking at President Donald Trump during a coronavirus press conference, further fueling rumors of tension between the pair. The incident occurred Friday afternoon, while the Commander-in-chief was giving the media an update on the COVID-19 outbreak flanked by members of the White House Coronavirus Task Force team, which includes Dr Fauci. The highly-respected immunologist looked to roll his eyes and suppress laughter as Trump lashed out at the State Department, describing them as the 'Deep State department'. Dr Fauci then placed his hand over his face, in what many described as a 'face palm' reaction to Trump's inflammatory remarks.

I am a cardiologist. The money spent on AIDS research was money well spent. When AIDS came out we had very little knowledge about how viruses work. Because of that research hepatitis c was cured, AIDS was made into a mild chronic illness. The research led to breakthroughs in immunology and cancer treatment. That being said, Fauci is a liar and a fraud. He trie to convince men that heterosexual sex in the US could cause AIDS. In fact there were no cases AIDS being transmitted to men by heterosexual sex. This is not true in Africa and Haiti where the men are uncircumcised and there is very high incidence of other venereal disease. He did this to be OC and not stigmatize the gay community by scaring people who were not at risk.
In addition he said that the evidence of anti malaria drugs being “anecdotal” is deliberately misleading. In fact there is a randomized open trial from France showing 100% of the treated people had an incredible response to treatment while only 6% got better better with no treatment. The probability that this was by chance is one in 10,000. Also Lennox Hill Hospital reported that in 100 very sick patients hospitalized and receiving hydroxychoroquine and Azithromycin, no one died. You do not need a controllled trial to know that this works because we have historical controls showing that many people would have died without treatment. Fauci is a publicity hog and wants to keep himself in the spotlight as long as possible.

I have developed a strong dislike for Fauci. He reminds me of a doctor whom the plaintiff lawyers call on when they need a favorable opinion to win a lot of money. He is wrong about a lot of his opinions but he uses sophistry to prove his point and make the opposing opinion to seem wrong.

Sorry - iPad keyboard glitch. Fauci is a friend of the Clintons but in all fairness it is hard to stand up there and stay straight faced for an hour. While I recognize that as a scientist he wants to see clinical trials on the hydroxychloroquin / Z pack combo - it’s all we have for now and it could flatten the curve. I am a pharmacist but were I a physician I would definitely put patients who test positive on it. What is there to lose? We need to slow this down.

The Daily Mail. I understand their shame at losing to America on numerous occasions, and then the humiliation of begging us to save them from Germany twice, but when I watch this video, I see a guy who is actually amused by his boss correctly pointing out what is going on.
The Daily Mail hates America and it's own country's bid to stop globalism, it would rather perpetuate the myth of this virus in hopes that a communist take over will occur. It i so tied to this position that it would try and sew dissension between the team Trump has created to defeat the threat......even if it hurts England. So to Andrew Court I say, I am sorry you have bad teeth and your Mom is a welfare queen, but the best revenge is being American.

Would advise everyone to view this video clip in its entirety and judge for yourself whether or not Dr. Fauci is embarrassed or amused by Trump’s remarks. Given what we know of the legacy media which do you suspect it is? If you are unable to find the full clip with Trump making his statement and Dr. fauci’s response you can instead take my word. Dr. Fauci was laughing WITH President Trump, not at all as it has been portrayed in this article. Take that as a good lesson.

I have to admit to being a lifelong eye roller. Sometimes I can keep it inside, but other times the eyes just get the best of me. I wish President Trump would have a script on a tele-prompter and stick to it. Reading a note in the palm of his hand is not his best presentation.
In addition, I believe the word "rant" is misused in the article. One statement or allusion does not a rant make. A rant is a prolonged delivery on one topic. A rant is a tirade. It's what my mother used to do that prompted me to roll my eyes.

Thank you #3 I'm sorry that I can't "like" your comment hundreds of times.
I didn't know really anything about Fauci until this mess but reading that he was in this job during Obama's reign I was wondering why he wasn't vocal then. 18K Americans died. Then when he spoke about the "failings" of the test kits and testing in general I wondered if he was so smart why hadn't he been preparing or at least sounding the alarm when the outbreak began in China. He left it to appear that it was Trump's "failing." He always seems to give that little jab in the ribs to Trump after the president speaks to show that he is just so much wiser.
He had to cast doubt on the French information stating no extensive clinical trials had been done. I'm no doctor, but I've read everything I can get my hands on and the doctors who tried the protocol had based it on very sound established information after treating SARS patients.
He could have at least said that it was promising. Instead he gave the hate Trump crowd more ammo. Rachel Maddow is now screeching about "Fairy Tales." That's not a team player.
I'm praying that this very simple, inexpensive, and widely available treatment is successful, and why the preeminent physician and director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases wasn't smart enough to have been in direct contact with the French when the study was published.
I also think that the statistics on the Diamond Star cruise ship population are also very interesting and contradict a lot of Fauci's dire predictions. If this all turns out to be much ado about nothing (and no, I don't think people dying is nothing) the blame lies with Fauci, after all, he's the "smart" one in this administration.

When Trump instituted travel bans, he was castigated.
When we needed test kits, the CDC failed us... too busy fighting obesity, I guess.
When we needed masks, the FDA wouldn't allow us to use perfectly function industrial masks... until Trump twisted their arms.
When we needed materials for test kits, Trump had to call a company to arrange delivery. No one in the CDC or FDA could do that.
Now we have word that already approved drugs can provide a cure and even disease avoidance... and we get nanny-talk about trials.
If all of the above isn't Deep State, I dunno what is.

I watched the clip several times. It was clear to me that Fauci was cracking up (not the insane way) and trying very hard not to laugh out loud. I showed the clip to others they agreed he was amused and trying hard not to laugh openly. I have done the same thing in meetings when someone hit another participant with a zinger but it was not appropriate to crack up laughing. Occasionally my shoulders shaking gave me away.

What's most disturbing about this is our President seems to have jumped on the corona virus crazy train. Don't know if he's a true believer or being fed bad information. Something like this is outside his area of expertise so its entirely believable he's being fed bad advice. No doubt, Trump's chief adviser on the virus is Fauci. Hope he sees the light soon. The virus is being used for political purposes. Its killing jobs and killing the economy which is worse than the virus itself. I understand about getting in front of the virus, but its time to move on. The media has caused a panic. The government (federal and state) has overreacted and is using it for political purposes.

#10,#29- While willing to give Dr. Fauci the benefit of doubt, having watched the video clip twice, am inclined to disagree that he is trying to stifle laughter at what President Trump said about the “deep state.” It appears he was displeased hearing that oft-repeated accusation. If anyone has studied body language, it would be interesting to read their comments. The manner in which he brought his left hand down the side of his cheek, and the look on his face, may be more indicative of annoyance. Further, two articles posted today suggest that Dr. Fauci may be part of the “deep state.” His “love” for Hillary Clinton; his intense, lengthy involvement with HIV-AIDS that expended a vast sum of money; and his gravitation toward CNN reporters, may warrant some degree of caution regarding his political leanings. (“Anthony Fauci, the NIH's face of the coronavirus, is a Deep-State Hillary Clinton–loving stooge” – American Thinker, 3-21-20)
A March 9, 2020 tweet by a PhD. with four degrees from MIT flat-out stated, “the #coronavirus fear mongering by the Deep State will go down in history as one of the biggest fraud to manipulate economies, suppress dissent, and push MANDATED medicine.”

#3 - Very heart-felt thanks!
Assumption: The seriousness of the Chinese virus is being overplayed by the Deep State globalists as their last Hail Mary pass, a smash play that finally removes Team Trump from the field. Fauci is the locker-room doctor for Team Trump and spy for Team Deep State. He convinces Team Trump that the opposing team is awesome and unbeatable, and only he, Fauci, knows the plays to defeat the opposition.
Their plan is to knock out President Trump by forcing upon him actions that bring the economic engine of America to a cold, hard stop. The ensuing chaos would put the country on its knees. Trump will be out-of-his-league battling against the inertia of federal bureaucrats concerned with following regulations, protocol and doing things the way they have always been done. Game ball, Deep State.
But a funny thing happened once they were all assembled in the stadium. Team Trump took Fauci's suggested plays and The Donald tweaked them. Instead of being led around the by the nose into a trap only a socialist would fall into, President Trump has taken this opportunity to recalibrate the focus of the US economy away from foreign shores and back to America. He is reshaping the relationship between private industry and the federal government. Instead of being drowned in red tape, Trump is cutting through it. When we come out on the other side we will be a different America. Not the failed hell hole of Deep State dreams, but MAGA:KAG America.

#10,#14,#29,#30,#39,#44,#45- The OP comments were made based on the still photos at the Daily Mail for which an apology is now extended. Reading comments by numerous Ldotters believing that Dr. Fauci was amused with President Trump’s interjection of humor, at the recommendation of #44, watched the bizpackreview.com clip several times and can see that Dr. Fauci may have been initially stunned with the president’s comment, then subsequently found it to be humorous. A wider span of those behind President Trump at that moment would be interesting to see. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo appears to have found it facetious.

How very sad that a man with such God-given talent would behave like a sassy teenager making faces, rolling eyes, and smirking behind the back of a person in authority. “The highly-respected immunologist” no longer holds that esteem in this household; he is now the “once high-respected immunologist.” Such behavior is disgusting at any level of society and especially so when it involves people of stature—it is shameful and immature. Such betrayal reflects on the innate persona of an individual and can be summed up in one word, untrustworthy. Other news accounts about his seeming “deep state” affinity were posted to this board earlier today.
