Texas Republican Governor Greg Abbott has threatened to veto the state legislature's budget after Democrats blocked the GOP's new voting rights bill by walking out of the House chamber in the middle of the night.'I will veto Article 10 of the budget passed by the legislature. Article 10 funds the legislative branch. No pay for those who abandon their responsibilities. Stay tuned', Abbott tweeted on Monday. He made the announcement after the Democrats staged the dramatic walkout pass Sunday night that stopped the new bill from reaching his desk for approval. Ted Cruz also urged Texas legislators to hold a special session to pass the new bill

Let's roll, Gov. Abbott.

The article states that Dems believe the bill would suppress the vote. We welcome all eligible voters to vote. It's just the large numbers of dead, fictional and out of state democrat votes that need to be stopped. My father voted straight republican all of his life. Since he died four years ago he has been voting straight Democrat.

Same trick they tried in Wisconsin to stop passage of act 10. Their next trick was a riot. In the end, neither worked.

Abbott can be a little wishy-washy at times. But, for the most part, he is a pretty consistent conservative. I really do hope he follows through on this, and keeps them off the payroll until they pass the voting rights bill in the special session!!!

Didn't the Dems just use subterfuge to suppress the vote in the state legislature? Why is it okay in this case?

Write an Executive Order, governor. It's what they would do. They can come back to protest the order and vote on the measure in the special session, at the same time.

#8, That is a political decision. The parties want candidates from two states so they can possibly carry them both. Quite frankly, if things don’t change, it won’t matter a whit where you are from. The conclusion is a done deal. Abbott knows this and is trying to ensure the election is fair.

I hope this doesn’t mean that their pay is restored retroactively once they return. That always seems to be the case with these walkouts and work stoppages—on both sides of the aisles.

Dear Gov. Abbott: Please ask the democrats how legislation that applies to ALL Texans suppresses anyone's voting?
Democrats still, after 200 years, think blacks and other minorities are not capable of true citizenship!

What is their problem with photo ID for voting besides fraud? One has to show a photo ID to get the vaccine. I haven't heard boo about that.

Don't dock their pay. As in the private sector, tell them they walked off the job and, in effect, resigned so they are no longer members of the legislature and will not be welcomed back so keep the hell out.
