SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- A new California bill would require some retailers to have gender neutral floor space inside their stores, Politico reports. The bill, called Assembly Bill 2826, was introduced by Assemblymember Evan Low, a Democrat from Campbell.
According to Politico, retailers would be able to sell the same products, as long as they dedicate space where customers can find clothes and toys regardless of whether the items have been marketed to boys or girls. “Keeping similar items that are traditionally marketed either for girls or for boys separated makes it more difficult for the consumer to compare the products

Honestly, I think it would be a great idea if California actually became a sovereign country. Let the wall make a northward turn up the Arizona-Nevada-Oregon borders. Day by day it looks less and less like America.

As if our markets aren’t confusing enough.
Except for meat and produce, I am enjoying picking up groceries that the store staff have picked for me based upon my online order. Costs a colossal $4.95 and worth every penny. Milk, juice, bread, etc., plus canned goods and so forth. If I buy enough there is often a discount. I can nag them about picking items with fresh dates. They load it into the car. We drive home, about 1/4 mile. All we have to do is get it from our car into the house and put it away. Poifect!

For the people that cannot decide what they are .....male/female............a special department of non denominational clothing. Really ? The government is saying that these people are too stupid a select their own clothes. That and a lot of other things.

Maybe the esteemed Assemblyperson will also dictate what can’t be sold in each section?

Why not leave this up to stores to decide what is in their best interest? If enough customers want "gender-neutral" shopping departments, then stores will provide them. It is called Capitalism. It is called the Free Market. It usually takes care of itself. We do not need the government telling us how to do business.

As for retail stores, I shop online now. Haven’t been in a department store for eons.
All of that said, I’ll bet this silly bill will never pass or be signed into law.

Sadly, liberals do not believe in just leaving people alone to live their lives or run their business as they see fit. The people who can't even run their own lives without therapists or government help want to tell us... no, FORCE us to behave as they see fit. Liberalism truly IS a mental disorder.

While clothing areas are usually labelled, losing such designations would truthfully be just a momentary and trivial barrier to finding what a shopper wanted. Near as I can tell stores don't generally label toys by gender.

Sure California. Your brick and mortar retail stores are raking in such exorbitant profits that they can afford to have you tell them how to allocate their square footage. What do you do with specifically men's or ladies' clothing stores ? Outlaw them ?

Helloooo.
One goofy Dem assemblyman does not a state make. Nor does his proposing a bill make it come true. But we should know that by now, right?
I read this morning that there are more registered voters in just the County of Los Angeles than there are in any state in the Union. There are 5 million appx. Republicans registered. How many are there in your states?
Put away the broad brushes. We need to stick together.
Meanwhile, it is a beautiful day in Southern California. Clear skies, 82 degrees. Flowers blooming, trees full of navel oranges and lemons everywhere. A week of 80s ahead.
One lousy Governor cannot spoil that, and certainly not one creepy assemblyman.

Been saying this to my spouse since the whole "pandora's box" of gender issues flooded our lives. You can't have men's and women's departments, boys' and girls', with this ridiculousness being entertained by culture. Pretty soon everything will be "one type must fit all". These are the intended-unintended consequences of following and allowing the left's identity politics to rule. Foolishness abounds (Romans 1).
Gotta say, this is no surprise, but it certainly is disgusting.

How about we all wear those shapeless clothes that were/are so prevalent in North Korea? Or maybe we could all wear those orange jumpsuits, like in prisons, or maybe a different color. That would pretty well make the whole store gender neutral. Then consumers wouldn't need to compare the products.

Challenge it in court. Where do they think they get the authority to do this? Make them point to where in the CA constitution they have this power.

A once wonderful state has been ruined by the progressive democrats. It's no longer a desired destination to live or visit. Some parts, in the rural areas, are still nice, but the dominating legislation from Sacramento ruins that life too.

#18, I very much respect your opinions and your choice to stick it out in California. But realistically, Republicans have about one third of the legislative seats in California, and 6 Congressmen against 45 Dem Congressmen/women. That is down at the level of basically political impotence.
Best wishes to my home state, and all her Repubicans but with the college leftist indoctrination and the general lunacy of California, and the left's total control in the state legislature, anything that they dream up, like this, can be passed, and the Republicans can't really stop any of it. How many other things that were said "But, that's crazy!" are now California law?
Good luck, it would be wonderful if this could be reversed somehow. Doesn't seem possible.

Today at Walmart I noticed that most vitamin pills are now labeled for men, women, kids, teens, etc. Of course there were still some just plain-old vitamin pills w/o such labels. I didn't see any for transsexuals but there may have been some.
And there were pills for "mature adults" but none for "immature adults". Protests and lawsuits to follow.

Check Wikipedia, note where the blue votes are coming from. It would be far more cost effective to simply build a wall around four areas - Los Angeles, the San Francisco bay basin, Portland and Seattle. Make them self governing territories like Puerto Rico and you would have six new Republican Senators and many more Republican electoral college votes (and many, many fewer Democrat electoral votes). And if you walled off Chicago and New York as well, the United States would be safe for a long time.

What is a gender neutral floorspace? I've never been nervous or threatened in the woman department. I have never been offended by women preferring men's clothing. I realize that women's butts grow wider the older they get. My wife used to love to use my shirts as nighties when we were younger. Never bothered me one bit.
