Polygamists have lived in Utah since before it became a state. Eighty-five years after plural marriage was declared a felony, they still number in the thousands and have even been featured in the long-running reality TV show, “Sister Wives.”
Now, a state lawmaker says it’s time to remove the threat of jail time for otherwise law-abiding polygamists.

Okay. Then don't call it a crime. But it is still fraud when multiple adults within a common household apply for public assistance. The law should read that only one woman per 'father' can get food stamps, welfare, etc. His other household members should be out of luck. Women might not agree to polygamy if they thought that they and any children might starve.

Pandora's box... if it's unconstitutional for the law to disallow to men, how can it be unconstitutional for a man and two women? Or, a man and another man and a woman... and a goat? Polygamy is fully legal practice historically, internationally, and biblically. Since we've jettisoned American Exceptionalism, there is absolutely nothing to stop everything from sliding to the least common denominator. They got their fundamental change. And I'm not sure where we find the tools to change it back.

It will be a great place for Muslim men who have several wives and lots of kids.
Imagine the possibilities!

In a culture that praises and sustains mentally ill men and women who simply declare themselves to be the opposite sex, where men marry other men and women marry other women and are lauded on the left and increasingly accepted in ":conservative" circles, where fornication is the norm and daily depicted as right and proper and good in the media - how then can anyone object to polygamy?

Yeah, we have same-sex marriage now. Why not polygamy? Next will be marrying your pet. It's a slippery slope, isn't it.
Same-sex marriage has cheapened the meaning of marriage. So has easy divorce.

Ah the slippery slope, we meet again.
From average men's perspective I have never gotten the desire for polygyny. If the male and female population are relatively equal and one high value man (looks, money, status) has 4 wives, that leaves 3 average men in the dust. This is especially hard on young men. Women, being the more biologically opportunistic sex of the species (out of necessity I might add), will choose to be the second or third wife of a wealthy, powerful man over the only wife of an average man. This most especially true when the once socially accepted ideals of Christian love are taken out of the equation. Polygyny in modern society will be very destabilizing considering the present nature of men and women.

Why not? In the Democrat world, every form of sexual activity and relationship is okay. Sex with a goat? Sure, let's show it on Netflix.

A man who want's more than one wife is prima facie unbalanced. Let him suffer the consequences.

Since the government isn't authorized by the constitution to steal money from one citizen to give to another, eliminate public assistance. Problem solved. You don't have to worry about welfare leeches or fraud or anything like that. The fedgov has to be stuffed back within the clear boundaries laid out by the contract known as the constitution.

It's not a crime it's a mental illness. What man in his right mind could possibly want more than one wife?

Mormonism is a cult just like Islam, although it doesn't advocate replacing the Constitution with Sharia Law like the muzzies do.

'Sister wives'...what is that??...thought it was a show about a guy marrying his wife's sister after she passed away..........guess my social mores are still stuck back in the 60's when you got married before you made a baby and never married outside your faith and definitely never had more than one wife...
2 Corinthians 6:14 [ Warning Against Idolatry ] Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness?

Should have read the posts before posting...several reference marrying their pets...https://www.dogster.com/lifestyle/this-widow-who-lost-her-cat-husband-plans-to-marry-her-dog....oh, and some Imam somewhere said it was ok to fornicate with animals, but, the act makes the animal 'unclean' and it must be killed...and I remember the drone video of muslims having sex with goats... https://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=drone+video+of+muslim+fornicating+with+a+goat&docid=608045782370943548&mid=6B8ECBAE34DBE7035BBA6B8ECBAE34DBE7035BBA&view=detail&FORM=VIRE

Ending law that was seldom enforced and could never be enforced equally.
The practicing studs farm out their wives so all can be on welfare -IOW, they lie. The ones who suffer in crackdowns are the children and the women and children will also lie. In life where people mingle it is common to dislike the men and "support the women who are liked as cleaning people and other service jobs.
Removing the threat of jailtime not a threat to society. Warren Jeff's cities on Ut-Az borders have somewhat collapsed. Remove the children from their parents and they are terrified by the worldliness of even the most austere foster parents. The world may think the county "L"DS are quaint but the polygs think us worldly. But like the Amish I wonder if the have I phones?
They aren't supposed to talk to anyone outside their pod They do not usually send their kids to school.
