SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine — Republican Sen. Susan Collins says she's getting death threats after her vote to acquit President Donald Trump at his impeachment trial, saying three of them were deemed “credible” and are being investigated. Collins made the disclosure Friday while addressing the Maine Chiefs of Police Association winter conference. “I just want you to know that I’ve always loved you and appreciated you. But now I have a real personal appreciation for all that you do to keep us safe,” Collins told the group in South Portland, Maine. Collins also received threats before when she voted to confirm

Collins' only hope for re-election is that President Trump comes to Maine, has a rally in the Second Congressional District (northern 2/3 of the state) and endorses her. Democrats in Maine won't vote for her.

She should think about this: If someone were really intending to kill you, would they really warn you first? By making the threat, they completely remove the element of surprise and have warned their supposed target. Rather than the target being an unsuspecting victim, the warning allows them to take precautions and increase their security posture. The intended victim could even arm themselves and turn the tables on their attacker.

There was not a single critical vote in this exercise. 19 more votes were required for removal from office, so no senator was placed in the position to cast the "deciding vote".

Washington, DC - Some residents in Oregon are fed up with living under Democratic control of their state government and have launched a ballot initiative campaign to join Republican-led Idaho. The movement, known as "Move Oregon's Border for a Greater Idaho," is hoping to expand the borders of the Gem State through the inclusion of more than a dozen bordering rural counties now in Oregon. WASHINGTON—House Democrats are grappling with whether to pursue further investigations of President Trump following his acquittal in the Senate, facing both an election in nine months and fresh White House actions that they say demand scrutiny.
