About half of us make New Year’s resolutions at this time. Most of us end up not fulfilling them, whether it be losing weight, becoming more organized or getting out of debt. But here’s one resolution that may be easier to keep and help maintain your sanity during the upcoming presidential campaign. Stop letting all the “bad news” that floods your mobile phone or TV make you forget there’s a lot of good news out there that makes a bigger difference to all of us in the long run. Keeping a resolution against letting bad news dominate your media consumption won’t be easy.

Rooting and marauding day and night, they can and will destroy your lawn, your crops, the fairways of your local golf course, and whatever else they run across. After holding a vote to impeach President Donald Trump, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has decided to wait on sending the impeachment articles to the Senate. According to many in the media, this brilliant bit of strategy gives her leverage to force Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell to provide a fair trial in the Senate. There’s so many reasons this is wrong, but let’s start with the most obvious: according to the Democrats’ own impeachment witness, Harvard law professor Noah Feldman, Trump isn’t actually impeached until the articles are sent to the Senate, and “an indefinite delay would pose a serious problem.”

While some may consider Britain's Stonehenge an incredible feat, others merely see it as 'just a pile of rocks'. Disgruntled sightseers have taken to the travel website to leave a series of one and two-star reviews, branding Kew Gardens 'just a bunch of expensive trees', Hadrian's Wall as a 'heap of stones', and the Old Bailey 'just a big building that sends people off to the nick'.

The once Golden State of California, because the politicians bow to the wishes of the labor unions, has decided to kill the dreams, aspirations, and opportunities of a large number of her citizens. As of January 1, 2020, a new law (AB-5) goes into effect that limits independent contractors. While there is a list of exemptions, to be considered independent from the law you must meet all of the provisions on the exemptions list, which is nearly a statistical impossibility for most contractors.

Sacramento- When Jerry Brown became governor yet again in 2011, I warned my conservative friends not to be too upset at the prospect. “It’s not going to get any better than this,” I’d say. Indeed, Brown’s final eight years in office were mostly smooth sailing, and the dwindling number of Capitol Republicans rarely criticized his administration too harshly. There was plenty to moan about — the record-setting budgets, a major tax increase, the overheated climate-change rhetoric, the failure to rein in unfunded liabilities — but a lot to commend, as well. He got a red-ink-soaked budget on track, passed modest pension reform, dealt successfully with a court-driven prison-overcrowding crisis,

It's human nature to focus on the negative, so it’s worth starting 2020 with an earnest appreciation of all the gains we made during the last decade. Despite the doom-and-gloom rhetoric of economic disaster pushed by politicians left and right, honest reflection reveals that the 2010s were arguably the single most magnificent decade of economic progress in human history. The statistics showing growth over the last 10 years are almost mind-blowing. Extreme poverty, defined as the number of people globally living on less than $1.90 a day, fell from a whopping 18.2% of the world in 2008 to just 8.6% in 2018. Here’s a safe prediction for 2020. The Iowa Democratic caucuses will dominate the news at the end of January and beginning of February. My conservative cousin formerly from New York sees the caucuses as a “glaring example of voter suppression totally ignored by the mainstream media because it provides a boost to left wing Democrats.”He writes: The winner of the Iowa caucus has become the Democratic nominee in every 21st century election. Yet, turnout is sparse; only 15.7% of registered Democrats showed up for the 2016 caucus and not many more are expected this year. It is easy to understand why. To participate, voters must drive to a caucus site at night

The other day Joe Biden claimed that he would consider a Republican running mate. Right. The chances of that happening are nil, given the hardcore leftist composition of the Democratic Party. But Biden likes to feed the mythology that he is still a moderate. The Trump campaign can’t let him get away with that lie. They should paint him early and often as a liberal Democrat who long ago lost touch with the Rust Belt. This is, after all, a pol who giddily whispered in Barack Obama’s ear that a massive government takeover of health care “was a big f—ing deal,” and pushed a reluctant Obama to embrace gay marriage.

But before I could worry about that, the voice softened and strengthened and a loud laugh landscaped by so many New York nights out of the past took over. “I’m kidding. I’m glad you called,” Don Larsen said. “I was 81-91 as a major league pitcher. If that’s all people knew about me, nobody would ever call.” A pause.
