Londoners are in for a second day of travel misery today after the Extinction Rebellion protesters camped overnight blocking roads and bridges. The leftie group pitched tents and set up camp just yards away from Boris Johnson’s front door at No10 as he branded them “uncooperative crusties and protesters”. Extinction Rebellion says the protests could be as much as five times bigger than those held in April, which brought major disruption to London and saw more than 1,100 arrests. Around 30,000 activists are expected to try and grind the city over the next fortnight in a move that will stop

Comments:

Boris also called them nose-ringed and hemp-smelling.

OK, from one online source, I have no idea if accurate, sounds like it might be. Crusties is a term for members of an urban subculture, with roots in punk and grebo. The term pre-dates crust punk and can be used independently. The trend was most widespread in the UK in the late 1980s and early 1990s but there are also international subsets. Grebo???? from another source: grebo(Noun) A member of a United Kingdom subculture of the late 1980s and early 1990s, musically affiliated with garage rock and electronica, typically wearing baggy clothes and hair in high ponytails. Sounds like he called them punks and greasers to me.

In reality they're eco-terrorists. Doesn't GB have laws about terrorists? Why doesn't GB prosecute the whole bunch of them and give them a 10 year sentence and out in 6 months like they usually do.

They are not "eco-warriors" - they are "ecoNazis" intent on imposing their will on the world.

Pope Francis urged South American bishops gathered at the Vatican on Monday to "speak with courage" as they address a severe priest shortage in remote areas of the region that could result in the church dropping celibacy requirements for some priests. The three-week Synod of Bishops for the Amazon also will address crucial regional topics ranging from protection of rainforests and local cultures to climate change, migration and clean water. "We have not come here to invent programs of social development or custody of cultures," the pope said. "We come to contemplate, to understand, to serve the peoples." Cardinal Claudio

To millions of shoppers, the supermarket is just a place to stock up on produce and pantry staples to keep the family fed. But to others, especially children of immigrants who may already feel pushed to the margins of the American mainstream, the supermarket can be just another place to experience the sting of their outsider status. The sting occurs whenever they walk down the “ethnic” food aisle, the section of the supermarket that, to some, plays out like a remnant of the Jim Crow era, when laws established separate facilities for African Americans in the post-Reconstruction South. Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders maintained his polling lead ahead of all 2020 Democratic presidential candidates among college students, while former Vice President Joe Biden was overwhelmingly ignored, according to a recent survey. Sanders stood atop the latest Chegg/College Pulse weekly poll of Democrat and Democrat-leaning U.S. college students with 30 percent of support. He was followed by Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren with 26 percent, and Andrew Yang, who at 10 percent had the most consistent week-over-week increases in backing. Trailing back in single digits was Biden, who has seen his support among liberal college students fall dramatically from 23

CLOVIS, Calif. — Trevor Meyer had been nominated previously for the homecoming court. As a prince. But what Meyer really longed for was to win homecoming queen. Meyer, who identifies as “gender neutral,” had that wish granted when Clovis East High crowned the slender, 5-foot-10 senior as homecoming queen Friday night during halftime of the Timberwolves’ football game against Clovis High. Meyer’s coronation didn’t seem like much of a shocker based on the other finalists’ reaction and the loud round of cheers at Lamonica Stadium. But in a city and in a school district known for having conservative views, a

WASHINGTON — Joseph R. Biden Jr.’s presidential campaign was under attack, and he and his advisers were torn over what to do. For more than a week, President Trump had been hurling unfounded accusations about Mr. Biden, his son Hunter and their dealings in Ukraine. Mr. Biden and his advisers debated whether to mount a fierce counterattack or to stick to a set of policy arguments he had been planning to roll out. Bad news loomed in the background: Mr. Biden’s poll numbers had already grown wobbly, his fund-raising was uneven, and cable news was flashing chyrons by the hour

WASHINGTON — It’s the subject of frequent barroom arguments, online debates, and even internal strategy sessions of congressional campaigns. Everyone in politics — Republicans and Democrats alike — is asking the same pressing question: Just how electable is Elizabeth Warren against President Donald Trump? As Warren rises to the top of the Democratic presidential primary, it’s a question operatives from both parties are increasingly asking with more urgency. And the answers often surprise. “The idea Elizabeth Warren is unelectable has followed her her whole career,” said Colin Reed, a veteran GOP strategist who worked against Warren when she was a

Joe Biden’s third quarter fundraising numbers are out. And they are an ominous sign for the former vice president’s 2020 candidacy. According to Bloomberg, Biden told donors at a fundraiser in Palo Alto, CA that his campaign raised $15 million in the period from July-September. That number is down markedly from the $21.5 million he brought in during the second quarter. Biden’s third quarter haul also, notably, lags behind that of two of his rivals. Sen. I can’t wrap my head around all that I’ve done to myself in the last two years, much less the “help” that some health care professionals have done to me. Did they outsource spying, in other words. That is part of what Connecticut Attorney General John Durham is investigating, at the request of Attorney General William Barr. But in a very sympathetic interview with former CIA Director John Brennan, NBC's Chuck Todd never asked difficult questions about the origins of the Trump-Russia investigation and Brennan's possible role in it.
