The last time Californian climate scientist Peter Kalmus was on an airplane was in 2012: He says it made him feel physically sick and like he was "stealing" from his children's future, and vowed never to fly again. US President Donald Trump's administration has made no secret of its disdain for climate science, but that hasn't stopped some ordinary Americans from finding ways to drastically reduce their own carbon footprints, hoping to persuade others through their examples. Kalmus was pursuing his post-doctoral studies in 2009 when he became increasingly concerned about the prospect of climate breakdown, tipping points such as
Is Mssr Kalmus would grow his own food, live without using electricity or fossil fuels, or any products made with such, I would possibly listen to him. But then again, we wouldn't know he existed, would we?

There are places in the U.S. and elsewhere that these loons can live the lifestyle they claim to want. Nothing is stopping them. Remote areas of Alaska, deserts, and deep woods of Washington state are a few examples.
They are not satisfied to live what they preach though. They want to force it on everyone else.

If the US reduced its CO2 emissions to zero there would be no impact on alleged warming because 90% of the CO2 comes from China, India, etc.

Peter kalmus is a lunatic, literally. He believes all sorts of things which are objectively, not true. This is the definition of insanity.

Ok. So we all go to solar panels. It will take 15? 25? 30? 35? years to retrofit what percentage of the country?
And I suppose the plants that manufacture the solar panels will, themselves, be solar powered.
Suppose we have unusually rainy or cloudy weather? How do the plants run? How do the workers get to work?
Stupid goobers. And stupid people who follow.

“Tarik Maasaranni said he gets much of his food from dumpster diving or from the leftovers at buffets from conferences he attends, describing himself as a "supply-and-demand vegan."
Are there enough dumpsters to feed 330 million Americans? These people need psychiatric help, not dumpsters.

Some questions need to be asked. Is there such a thing as average global temperature? What is the optimum temperature?

They are what is wrong with the country. These people are celebrated instead of given the mental help they need. Eating out of dumpsters is not normal. Expecting other people to provide shelter when you are capable of providing it for yourself is not admirable. sorry. I'm not impressed.

Every child who participated in yesterday's farcical screamfest should be forced to adopt these lifestyles including having to beg a place to stay in a friends house when they move out of their parents homes.

Not a scientist, certainly not a teacher, he should not be allowed within a thousand miles of a classroom, and certainly not a productive member of our Republic.. Sure wish this commie creep would come up to me and take me by the lapels to talk about his religion of climate lunacy. His personal climate would get very warm in a second.

Check out the awful mess the climate change protesters left at Hyde Park. Do as I say not as I do.
Conservatives are better stewards of this earth and far less hypocritical.

In my college days in the '70s I became aware of claims by very authoritative people that a man-made catastrophe was imminent. During ensuing decades the cause of destruction changed but the hue and cry was just as sincere and apocryphal. Some of the claims resulted in a cruel and gut-level response, such as the flood of abortions resulting from Ehrlich's 'Population Bomb', and the millions of malaria and yellow fever deaths resulting from the ban of DDT.
The chicken littles in life change but their cry is always "... is going to kill us all!". The causes ranged from overpopulation to pollution to pesticides to acid rain to ozone holes to AIDS to bird flu to Y2K to mad cow to SARS to global warming to global climate change (Orwellian double-speak!). However, none of the chicken little's prophesies ever panned out, except in the death and misery caused by those who sought to impose extreme measures to circumvent destruction.
These people need to be treated as what they are - tribal witch doctors controlling the tribe by telling them the volcano gods will be displeased and destroy them if they don't follow the witch doctor's decrees. Put science back into its rightful place and ignore anything unsupported by classic empirical study!

Let them live in the way they think they'll earn redemption, but I suspect that a year without central air and heat, without air travel or automobiles, the fresh fruits and vegetables brought in on trucks, before long they will wonder why they ever believed in the climate fairy.

"Donald Trump's administration has made no secret of its disdain for climate science" i.e. better known as fake science.
There is no validated scientific proof that humans are warming the planet. In order to have a scientifically proven process you must validate your hypothesis or else it is just a belief or religion.
There are only climate models at his point showing catastrophic warming and a model in of itself is not a validation of a hypothesis.
I can model that I will win the lottery tomorrow, but if I don't win my model is junk. The climate models show that the earth is warming 3 times faster than it really is. The validated fact through weather balloons and satellite monitoring is that the earth is warming 3 times less than the models show therefor the models are junk and so is the theory of global warming. (there is one model that is showing the same as the observed weather and that is the Russian climate model and it shows 3 times less warming than all the other models)
Those of us who do science and apply the principles for a living, get this most basic fact that; a concepts/proposals/hypothesis must be validated before being accepted as a fact. The global warming theory fails this basic science test.
