Florida farmers formed a coalition this summer to study and combat the impact of climate change on agriculture in the state. The group also might seek new state subsidies to ensure the future of farming and open land in the nation's third-most populous state. (snip) Trees help to capture carbon -- a major greenhouse gas that contributes to global warming. Open land also allows rainwater to soak in and recharge groundwater aquifers that feed many public water supplies. The Climate-Smart group believes farmers or any landowner could receive payment or tax cuts for such benefits. Nothing like that exists in the United States, the group acknowledges.

This is an attempt by land owners to get tax credits and payments to keep their land as open space disguised as an attempt to deal with "Climate Change". I think I'll organize home owners to ask for credits against our air conditioning bills because of "Climate Change". It might work.

"The group also might seek new state subsidies...." They gave the game away in the first paragraph.

I acknowledge that the climate changes every second, minute, hour, day, month, year, decade and century.
There - I've confessed to the truth - am I forgiven?

When you read the article, only two things are mentioned: Hurricanes and rainfall. Rainfall varies.
You're in Florida and hurricanes are a fact of life.
What Change????

Buncha crap! Real farmers dont have time to be "form a coalition". Farming is a before daylight to dark operation. No time to 'study and combat the impact of climate change'. Farmers are closer to the earth and its causes and effects than any other group and they know the facts already

Any excuse to justify the phony baloney job of taking money from one person to hand half of it to another while taking a quarter of it for providing the service, and losing another quarter in the cracks somewhere.

"Florida Farmers" How many? 2, 10, 20, 100? How many paid lobbyists are part of this so-called group of "Florida Farmers". Me thinks this is another climate change scam.

Florida is the fastest growing state, with a massive building boom underway. With government subsidies, the per acre price for land will increase, and will provide a "Golden Parachute" to anyone who who wants to sell their property to developers.

Wasted time, although they seem to be looking mostly for a way to fight their way to the government feed trough.
