We already know pregnant women are basically pro athletes, but one mother-to-be has proven herself a true hero — by saving a boy from drowning.
Stephanie Swedberg, who is 33 weeks pregnant, was teaching her 3-year-old twin boys how to float on Sunday at Crystal Beach Park in her hometown of Burnsville, Minnesota.
Swedberg, a former lifeguard, tells Fox 9, “I’ve just known with these guys that I wanted them to learn how to swim as soon as possible.”
She was splashing with her twins and her sister around 11 a.m. when she heard the cries of another mother.

A 24-year-old white man was beaten to death Monday morning after getting into a minor fender bender on Detroit’s west side.
Tyler Wingate, a resident of Berkley, Michigan, was driving at 1:30 a.m. on Monday near the 13500 block of Livernois Avenue when he bumped into a car in which Lawrence James Davis, 23, was either a driver or a passenger.
According to the Detroit police, Davis jumped out of the auto and assaulted Wingate by kicking and punching him repeatedly. Once Wingate was lying unresponsive on the ground, Davis fled the scene on foot.

A federal judge decided Wednesday to leave in place a Trump administration rule that imposes restrictions on individuals seeking asylum in the United States if they passed through a third country on their way to the border between the U.S. and Mexico, potentially leading to a sharp reduction in Central American migrants entering the country.
The rule, published in the Federal Register last week, requires people seeking asylum to first apply in one of the countries they pass through on their way to the U.S., with certain exceptions. The rule was quickly met with a legal challenge from advocacy groups, who moved for a temporary restraining order blocking the rule.

If Democrats believed that Robert Mueller would provide them with additional ammunition for an impeachment inquiry, they made an extraordinary miscalculation. The nation watches a confused, halting Robert Mueller in what will be the saddest moment in an otherwise stellar career. But without question this Mueller performance clearly illustrated one very important reality.
There is no way in the world the confused, uncertain man testifying today actually ran the investigation he was charged with running. Mueller even had Members saying “over here” to let him know the physical location of his questioner of the moment. At times his aides seated behind him had to point him to his questioner, Mueller’s face a mask of confusion. As the Washington Examiner’s Phil Klein has incredulously noted:
Rutger Hauer, the Dutch actor who starred in 1982’s “Blade Runner,” died Wednesday in his home after battling a short illness.
He was 75.
Hauer’s funeral was held Wednesday, the star’s rep confirmed to Variety.
One of Hauer’s most notable roles was playing Roy Batty opposite Harrison Ford in Ridley Scott’s cult classic “Blade Runner.”

A rare tornado ravaged Cape Cod Tuesday, tearing the roof off a hotel and causing widespread destruction in the popular Massachusetts vacation town, the National Weather Service confirmed.
The twister touched down in South Yarmouth just after noon, bringing damaging wind gusts of 90mph which brought down power lines, uprooted trees, flooded streets and left 50,000 people without power. [Video]
Winds peeled the roof off the Cape Sands Inn in West Yarmouth while major roads were blocked by downed trees and power lines — prompting cops to warn travel in the region was “very dangerous and not advised.”
No fatalities or significant injuries have been reported, cops said.
It's hard to understand what congressional Democrats hope to achieve by summoning a reluctant Robert Mueller to appear before the House Judiciary and Intelligence committees on Wednesday. The former special counsel's exhaustive 448-page report has been done for nearly four months. MODESTO — The city of Modesto is considering awarding a permit for a straight pride march in a local park and residents have mixed reviews on the idea.
A flyer circulating on social media posted by the National Straight Pride Coalition says Stanislaus County will host the event August 24th in Modesto’s Graceada Park. The city is reviewing the application and said phones are ringing off the hook.

A number of pundits this morning have been questioning former special counsel Robert Mueller’s performance at the hearing before the House Judiciary Committee.
Fox Business host Stuart Varney spoke with Judge Andrew Napolitano as the Mueller hearing got underway Wednesday. Napolitano said so far it shows Mueller “is a good Marine and he’s gonna follow the instructions from the Department of Justice and basically not talk about ongoing cases, not talk about the deliberations that led to the report, and not talk about anything outside the report.”

A nine-year-old girl visiting Yellowstone National Park has been struck and thrown into the air by a charging bison. The girl, from Odessa, Florida, was in a group of roughly 50 people who were standing near the bison for about 20 minutes in the Old Faithful Geyser area on Monday before it charged, Yellowstone officials said in a written statement. Wild video shows the large beast grazing before it begins pacing toward the girl and two adults.

Border Patrol agents insist that completed new sections of border barriers are helping them to secure the border and making the agents safer in the process. This comes on the heels of media reports inaccurately asserting that no new barriers have been constructed during the Trump Administration.

Yesterday the Department of Justice sent a letter to Special Counsel Robert Mueller informing him it is appropriate to stay within the boundaries of his 448 page report during testimony on Capitol Hill Wednesday morning.
"Please note that there should be no testimony concerning the redacted portions of the public version of the report, which may not be disclosed because of applicable laws, court rules and orders," the letter states. "Any testimony must remain within the boundaries of your public report because matters within the scope of your investigation were covered by executive privilege, including information protected by law enforcement, deliberative process, attorney work product, and presidential communications privileges.
