EL PASO, Texas — The Trump administration is facing growing complaints from migrants about severe overcrowding, meager food and other hardships at border holding centers, with some people at an encampment in El Paso being forced to sleep on the bare ground during dust storms. The Border Network for Human Rights issued a report Friday based on dozens of testimonials of immigrants over the past month and a half, providing a snapshot of cramped conditions and prolonged stays in detention amid a record surge of migrant families coming into the U.S. from Central America. The report comes a day after an

They are welcome to go home. But then they likely have poor conditions back there, and back there they have to work for whatever they do get. Here, the poor beleaguered taxpayers are providing food, shelter, clothing, medical care and transportation.

You come across third world conditions, you claim asylum- although first country you enter should be the place to claim asylum- you are given food, shelter, running water- medical care.. and you complain? We don’t want complainers.. we want resilient individuals ready to chase the American dream achieved by hard work. Go home- apply legally, embrace freedom- or stay in your third world. We owe you nothing.

These poor refugees have a basic human right to a suburban home - - with at least four bedrooms, three bathrooms, a swimming pool, and a three-car garage - - filled with three new cars. And food - - lots of organic, gluten-free food. And at least two overseas vacations per year at five-star resorts. Social justice demands it!

Baloney, once in a US immigration holding facility the vast majority of poor, uneducated, and socialist minded migrants are living in the best and safest environment that they have ever experienced in their lives, where their lodging, food, clothing, medical treatment and their other legitimate needs are all “free” to them. If the migrants are really dissatisfied they should lobby the domestic and foreign socialist activists who encouraged them to unlawfully enter the USA, and their leftist and liberal Democrat benefactors, at the expense of the American taxpayers, to build Hampton Inn and Holiday Inn class accommodations for them to sojourn within as their mostly all bogus asylum claims work their way through the federal and immigration courts

Several well-trodden paths crisscross this lush area where people walk between Congo and Uganda to visit nearby family and friends and go to the busy markets. The problem is that the pedestrians may unknowingly be carrying the deadly Ebola virus, and hindering efforts to control the current outbreak in eastern Congo, which has killed more than 1,400 people. The busy border post is open 12 hours a day from 7 a.m., but after dark people walk along the "panyas," or "mouse paths," as the narrow dirt trails are known in the local Kiswahili language. The footpaths show the close kinship

By most all accounts, Joe Biden is cruising. Ostensibly the Democratic favorite, he has led—usually by large numbers—in almost every poll since he entered the 2020 presidential race in April. He has seemed to outlast concerns about his age, his long, sketchy political record, and his suitability to lead a changing Democratic Party. Hits from rival Dems have come—he had to swiftly abandon his decades-long support of the discriminatory Hyde Amendment after a nearly universal outcry—but they have not had a significant effect on his candidacy. He has spent much of the early electoral season acting

Why have national Democrats and not national Republicans fallen under the tyranny of the 70-somethings? It seems so contrary to common expectation. Democrats are, as they often remind us, the party of progress and the future. The question seems to rival those enduring, unanswerable mysteries such as “What happens when you die?” and “Why did Mick Taylor quit the Rolling Stones?” People in their mid-to-late 70s are thick on the ground nowadays, while in an earlier era, of course, you’d have been more likely to find them under it. This is especially true in the urban centers of the Northeast

Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. began the Supreme Court’s term last fall seeking to assure the American public that his court does not “serve one party or one interest.” He will end it playing a pivotal role in two of the most politically consequential decisions the court has made in years. One initiative is to include a citizenship question in the 2020 Census, which has fueled a partisan showdown on Capitol Hill. The other could outlaw the partisan gerrymandering techniques that were essential to Republican dominance at the state and congressional level over the past decade. The politically weighted
