SALEM, Ore. — Oregon is awash in pot, glutted with so much legal weed that if growing were to stop today, it could take more than six years by one estimate to smoke or eat it all. Now, the state is looking to curb production. Five years after voters legalized recreational marijuana, lawmakers are moving to give the Oregon Liquor Control Commission more leeway to deny new pot-growing licenses based on supply and demand. The bill, which passed the Senate and is now before the House, is aimed not just at reducing the huge surplus but at preventing diversion of unsold

A good example of the government trying to control the marketplace. They legalize it then hand out growers' licences like lollipops. Now want to limit production because the price it 'too low'.

Good grief. The socialists in Oregon can't even encourage people to go ahead and grow pot without creating a crisis. Even Venezuela is better managed.

Marihuana gives one these brilliant ideas that never become practical when sober. It also makes you uncontrollably hungry for sweet things. Not only you become an idiot but Marihuana is a gateway drug for much more serious habits. It will destroy our youth. You can thank George Soros for Marihuana acceptance. Turns you children into losers and dangerous drivers. Drink alcohol instead, much better.

Drugs rot your brain, destroy your soul, ruin your life. Evil. And yet, weak people crave them and willingly flush their lives, the only thing that they have, right down the drug sewer. Sad.

Next step on slippery slope: Promotion of use and exports. It is what happens when the state becomes the biggest drug dealer in the market. It will happen in other states, too.

A lot of Gen Xers and Ys have fallen for the lies about marijuana. They still produce cool anti-smoking commercials, then turn around and advocate smoking and selling pot legally. They railed against big tobacco, and now they're becoming big righteous cannabis. They don't believe it's a gateway drug either. Silly people; they didn't they realize legalizing pot meant government control? They started out advocating medicinal marijuana and advanced to recreational. Can't imagine where they'll go next? What a world...

And like Afghanistan it will stop growing food and just grow drugs and its people will suffer. Unintended side effects are always the problem with these pie in the sky schemes for the politicians to make money, which is what it is really all about. Afghanistan used to be a net producer of food for its people. Now they have to import food just to survive.

Bates Motel had,in part of its story line, former timber executives who became marijuana growers, and they corrupted governments as they did so (The show was a takeoff on the movie Psycho, and was well acted.)

Warren’s lab, Bailey, is leading with 10% of the YouGov.com vote, followed by Joe Biden’s eldest German Shepard, Champ, and Beto O’Rourke’s pooch, Artemis, both tied at 8%. In the poll, only the names of potential first dogs were offered to survey takers. Their owners were not identified in what essentially was

By every standard measurement, Joe Biden is sitting pretty atop the 2020 Democratic dogpile, leading his closest competition (Bernie Sanders) by double digits in recent polls. His popularity among Democrats is stratospheric, compared to more progressive rivals, and voters seem to think he has the best chance at beating Donald Trump in a general election. And yet, when it comes to less tangible metrics, such as Biden’s presence on the campaign trail, one begins to wonder if the top Democratic candidate isn’t hiding certain weaknesses. As CNN observes in a new story, Biden has held only 11 campaign events and

Markets thrive on competition. Unfortunately, this doesn’t just apply to real economic markets. It also applies to markets for bad ideas and political pandering. With approximately 200 Democrats now running for president (we lost count a few weeks ago), the bidding to bribe Iowa caucusgoers is becoming intense. This is unfortunate not just because it is unseemly but also because the offers are coming at the expense of the nation’s well-being and the environment’s health. The worst pander so far comes from Sen. Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn. When she is not privately belittling her staff in ALL CAPS 4 a.m. emails, Klobuchar is attempting to gain

“Bombshell” best describes David Garrow’s lengthy piece “The Troubling Legacy of Martin Luther King.” The article not only obliterates what we think we know about one of the most beloved figures in American history, it, like a bombshell, hurts people. This includes the many admirers of Martin Luther King but also the various figures, including alleged paramours still alive, named in the article. The manner in which the government assembled the derogatory information on King — gathered with the approval of Democratic officials, including Attorney General Robert Kennedy, all feigning support for the civil rights leader — sickens in a literal sense. Using King’s association with various figures involved
