On Monday, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein submitted his resignation to President Trump, effective May 1. Rosenstein pointed out in his letter that the "median tenure of a Deputy Attorney General is l6 months, and few serve longer than two years." When his resignation becomes effective on May 1, Rosenstein will have served just over two years. In his letter to the president, Rosenstein lauded the Department of Justice for making "rapid progress in achieving the Administration´s law enforcement priorities reducing violent crime, curtailing opioid abuse, protecting consumers, improving immigration enforcement, and building confidence in the police while preserving national security

A Manhattan judge on Monday gave city officials the green light to open a controversial homeless shelter in the ritzy “Billionaires’ Row” neighborhood. State Supreme Court Justice Alexander Tisch rejected arguments from the West 58th Street Coalition and other opponents that the former Park Savoy Hotel doesn’t meet current safety standards and is unsafe in case of fire. Tisch ruled that while the only way out is through the lobby and the stairwell may be too narrow for both tenants and first responders at the same time, “these are all aspects for which the City and its agencies are supposed

After Congresswomen Ilham Omar’s and Rashida Tlaib’s incendiary anti-Semitic rants directed at Jewish Americans and American ally Israel, the Democrat House “progressive caucus,” led by Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez, rallied around to protect and support them. The progressive media chimed in, supporting the Islamist congresswomen. Even after Rep. Not to be outdone, the ever more progressive and pro-Islamist New York Times published a political cartoon that even they admit is anti-Semitic, as well as an article claiming that Jesus

During an interview last week with PJ Media‘s Nick Ballasy, Ben Rhodes, former deputy national security adviser to President Obama, strenuously denied that the Obama White House had anything to do with the improper surveillance of the Trump campaign. Echoing a familiar Obama refrain, Rhodes, in fact, insisted that he “literally” read about the FBI’s counterintelligence investigation into Trump for the first time in the newspaper (“the frickin’ Washington Post” to be exact). The interview took place at Georgetown University on Thursday, where Rhodes was appearing to discuss his book, The World as It Is: A Memoir of the Obama

President Trump suggested Deputy Attorney General Rod J. Rosenstein participated in the planning of “a very illegal act” against him. He suggested Rosenstein was a “totally conflicted” overseer of the Russia investigation. He flirted with firing him, saying he had the right to do so “absolutely.” And he regularly derided him as a Democrat from Baltimore, even though neither was true; Rosenstein is a Republican from Pennsylvania. On Monday, after spending the last few weeks defending and lending his credibility to Attorney General William P. Barr’s handling of the end of the Russia probe, Rosenstein announced his resignation

Sensing the lack of a Democratic candidate willing to challenge Sen. Susan Collins (R., Maine), a "queer feminist mermaid" named Bre Kidman—politically mobilized by the Brett Kavanaugh confirmation fight—has filed to enter the race. Collins has represented Maine in the Senate since 1997, and each of her three reelection fights have ended with double-digit margin victories. One of the strangest things about the series of psychodramas that surround the ongoing effort to remove President Trump before the 2020 election is progressive schizophrenia. But Democrats responded to her deciding vote to confirm Kavanaugh by vowing to make her run for a fifth term a real challenge, expecting a crowded field of candidates to step up to the plate. That hasn´t materialized. The first Democratic candidate to file

That famous formulation by Bill Clinton describing the Normal Americans that Democrats used to at least pretend to care about now describes the Americans that the Democrats openly hate – you and me. We’re America. We work hard. We play by the rules. But everything bad is our fault, and the solution to every real or imaginary problem is to take more of our money and more of our freedom and hand them over to the liberal elite to redistribute among their minions. How about “No?” It’s time to get militant, Normals.

What if correctional facility prisoners throughout the country were allowed to vote for any candidate they wanted and there just so happened to be a candidate who ran on the promise that if elected all sentences would be commuted to time served? And by voting together these prisoners constituted a majority, are there any doubts as to who would win and what the results would be? Well, there is no need to think in the hypothetical for the answer because the results of such a system are seen in most major liberal cities across the United States. And it´s all

It is said that Washington is Hollywood for ugly people. That is, of course, an insult to homely people everywhere. But if Washington is the Hollywood of anything, then the insufferably tedious White House Correspondents’ Association dinner held every year is, truly, the Oscars of Washington. Every spring, frumpy, ink-stained wretches squeeze themselves into ridiculously mismatched tuxedos and sequined gowns straining at the seams and — I am not kidding — walk across a plush red carpet to the snapping and flashing of cameras. This, mere feet from the stone-walled sidewalk where President Ronald Reagan was nearly assassinated in 1981.

This year, the Democratic National Committee decided that presidential candidates can qualify for the first two debates by earning at least 1 percent of the vote in three national or early-primary-state polls conducted by qualifying pollsters or by receiving donations from at least 65,000 unique donors, including at least 200 individual donors in at least 20 states. I assume that this liberal approach was a reaction to charges that the DNC stacked the deck against outsiders four years ago. There will be outsiders galore participating in Democratic presidential debates this year.

Clarity, courage and candor. That’s what voters want from political candidates. Not circular claptrap. That’s especially true of candidates running in a crowded field of 20 for the Democratic nomination to take on President Trump next year. Voters are looking for differences. Everyone’s pounding on Trump. That’s no distinction. California Sen. Kamala Harris, who’s considered among the top tier of contenders, isn’t always performing up to speed. It’s not enough just to feed the voter base with red meat and focus group-certified talking points. Harris has long been afflicted with too much caution, as I’ve previously written.

Willoughby Run is a stream too small to be called a creek. Trickling southward through the hills of Adams County, Pennsylvania, it runs between two low ridges and crosses U.S. Highway 30 east of what is now a golf course, but which on the morning of July 1, 1863, was farmland. On the ridge west of Willoughby Run was a tavern owned by Frederick Herr and on that ridge, two brigades of Confederate infantry assembled, having marched some seven miles from Cashtown that morning. These brigades belonged to a division

Former vice president Joe Biden repeatedly said on The View on Friday that he believed Anita Hill from the moment he heard her tale of sexual harassment by Clarence Thomas. But he previously told Sen. Arlen Specter that it was clear her testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee included lies. “Not only didn’t I vote for Clarence Thomas, I believed her from the beginning. I was against Clarence Thomas, I did everything in my power to defeat Clarence Thomas and he won by the smallest margin anyone ever won going on the Supreme Court,” Biden told “The View’s” Joy Behar.

Her new deal is all about the green, alright. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez held a 5k in Queens Saturday that she billed as “a Family Fun Run supporting U.S. Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s Green New Deal on the Saturday following Earth Day.” But many of the 400 runners didn’t realize their $30 registration fees were going directly into the lawmaker’s campaign coffers. “We’re getting together for our own health, for our planet’s health … and to fight for the Green New Deal together,” the freshman Democrat told the participants before they set off.

WASHINGTON — Barack Obama did not think Joseph R. Biden Jr. should run for president — he hardly needed to say it out loud for aides to understand that. The trick that summer of 2015 was finding a way to nudge Mr. Biden to stay out of the race without looking as if he was nudging Mr. Biden to stay out of the race. By the time that Mr. Biden began weighing a campaign, the president had long since concluded that Hillary Clinton had the best chance of winning in 2016. Beyond that, Mr. Biden

Prior to his death in 2014, Chick-fil-A founder S. Truett Cathy used to regularly remind the operators of his stores that they weren’t in the chicken business – they were in the people business and just happened to be selling chicken. Walk into any of the Atlanta-based company’s 2,300 outlets and it’s clear that Cathy’s vision remains its North Star. Though the food is really good – it’s the company’s consistently superior customer service that turns ordinary diners into what they like to call their “raving fans.” As a kid, I don’t think I knew much

This week, socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) endorsed a plan that would allow felons serving time behind bars the right to vote from their prison cells. “So, I believe people who commit crimes, they pay the price and they get out of jail, they certainly should have the right to vote,” Sanders said during a town hall. “But, I believe even if they are in jail, they’re paying the price to society, but that should not take away their inherent American right to participate in our democracy.” Initially, Sen. Kamala Harris said, “I think we should have that conversation” when

New York Giants draft pick Corey Ballentine has been shot. According to WIBW Sunday, Ballentine was shot overnight in Topeka, Kansas. He suffered non-life threatening injuries, but his former Washburn teammate Dwane Simmons was killed. Ballentine was drafted in the sixth round Saturday by the Giants. Oscar Stewart was focused on the comforting rhythm of the Torah reading when pops of gunfire cut through the sanctuary. Stewart watched fellow congregants of Poway Chabad jump to their feet and run toward the exits as if in slow motion, away from the violence unfolding in the lobby on Saturday morning, the last day of Passover. The 51-year-old Army veteran began to follow them. And then, in a split-second decision, he turned around. Stewart doesn’t know why. In retrospect, the Orthodox Jew thinks it might have been the “hand of God.” Whatever it was that moved through him in

First come the president’s own words. “America will never be a socialist country,” he says. Then the voiceover. “You are right, Mr. President,” the spot says, deploying flattery before pivoting to warn that his administration is considering “socialist” price controls on medicines that would thwart innovation and investment. This would all be unremarkable in the world of political advertising were it not for the fact that the spot was made by Americans for Tax Reform to run only in the West Palm Beach, Fla., television market over Easter weekend when President Trump was staying at Mar-a-Lago.Media executives and analysts say

A new study of how criminals vote found that most convicts register Democratic, a key reason in why liberal lawmakers and governors are eager for them to get back into the voting booth after their release. “Democrats would benefit from additional ex-felon participation,” said the authoritative study in The Annals of the American Academy of Political and Social Science. The authors, professors from the University of Pennsylvania and Stanford University, found that in some states, felons register Democratic by more than six-to-one. In New York, for example, 61.5 percent of convicts are Democrats, just 9 percent Republican.
