Sensing the lack of a Democratic candidate willing to challenge Sen. Susan Collins (R., Maine), a "queer feminist mermaid" named Bre Kidman—politically mobilized by the Brett Kavanaugh confirmation fight—has filed to enter the race. Collins has represented Maine in the Senate since 1997, and each of her three reelection fights have ended with double-digit margin victories. But Democrats responded to her deciding vote to confirm Kavanaugh by vowing to make her run for a fifth term a real challenge, expecting a crowded field of candidates to step up to the plate. That hasn´t materialized. The first Democratic candidate to file

.... I´m no fan of Susan Collins, by any stretch. But, Collins is better than ANY Democrat, every day of the week.

Kidman, huh? The Kidman I know of is tall and willowy with curly red hair. This particular Kidman is curly red haired and built like a dump-truck.
Lesbianism seems to be the current choice for females too homely and charmless to win a man.

It would be nice if the folks in Maine were to find a real republican and primary the RINO Collins.
It seems to be a major news story when Susan votes the same way her "republican senate colleagues" do.

Who would have ever guessed that Ted Cruz would have had a race as close as he did. When you tick off conservatives, they may not vote for the nut who is running against you.... but they won´t work to help you win either.
You just never know what will happen when a mermaid runs against a liberal RINO.

The Buckley Rule says vote for the most conservative candidate who can win. Later on Buckley added what I would call the Weicker Corollary, which recognizes that some Republicans do more damage than a Democrat.
Lowell Weicker was a Republican senator from Connecticut, who spent most of his political life finding ways to criticize conservatives and draw admiration from the Left. Buckley made it his business to end Weicker´s political life and replace him with Joe Lieberman, a decent Democrat with some measure of common sense.
Sometimes you might have to vote for the Democrat because, perversely, they do less harm to the conservative agenda. A Democrat from Utah would have been considered a partisan hack for supporting the left wing talking points, and their criticisms of President Trump would have been discounted accordingly. When a republican traitor like Mitt Romney does it, it gets all the wrong kinds of headlines. In that sense, Mitt Romney is now our lesbian mermaid, and every time he opens his mouth a conservative angel loses its wings.
So ask yourself this: What would do the Left more damage? Susan Collins´s liberal headline-seeking pseudo-Republicanism? Or a Democrat lesbian mermaid who can´t shut up?
Susan Collins stood up for Brett Kavanaugh. That bought her our votes in the general. But it didn´t buy her out of a conservative challenger in the primary.
I hope we get one.

“The first-time politician decided to run after training from the Victory Institute, which runs programs for potential LGBTQ candidates. Kidman hopes to be the first gender nonbinary queer elected to the U.S. Senate.“
Isn’t the Victory Institute still hiding Obama’s transcript?

Would that queer feminist mermaid´s name be Susan Blasey Ford? ("queer" in the traditional meaning, of course)

This may be a naive question, but does the failed candidate get to keep the campaign donations raised for them? If so, it seems like an easy, sleazy way to make millions.

I´m confused by all the gender bender terms. A guy is ´gay´ and a woman lesbian is ´queer´. Why is that? Aren´t they both queer like it´s always been. I don´t like regular words ´high jacked´ by the left and use to change the meaning. I liked the word gay when it meant raucous fun like the Gay Nineties (1890´s) or Roaring Twenties (1920´s) in America.
All I can say is that ain´t no mermaid that´s a whale, "Thar she Blows!"

Remember, Maine has Ranked Choice voting. Unless Collins get at least 50% of the votes cast, the second choice on the ballots gets automatically thrown into the mix.
Using this rigged vote counting system, anyone can win (or lose).

#2 the problem is that Collins is both better than any Democrat alternative and no better than a Democrat, at the same time!

I respectfully disagree with # 17´s (and WFB´s) conclusion. Why? One overriding reason - judicial confirmations. Any RINO is far more likely to support the president´s judicial picks than any Dem. In fact, as we have recently seen, every senate Dem is GUARANTEED to oppose PDT´s nominees.
Events of the last two years have repeatedly reminded us of the overwhelming importance of getting the renegade leftist federal courts back under control. The travel ban, energy production, issues at the southern border - as long as the other side controls the courts we are hogtied in many substantial ways. Not what the Founders intended perhaps, but it is what we have today.
So don´t fall for the notion, sometimes tempting, that RINO X is so gawdawful that we might as well concede the seat to the Dems. The worst RINOs* can be massaged and brought into line at critical times. With Dems it is hopeless.
* OK, OK...Murkowski may be the exception, but she proves the rule.

I do not appreciate democrats who try to punish members of congress for doing the right thing, especially when the nominee is an innocent man. I don´t live in Maine, and I really do not like her politics, but I would vote for her, simply because of the principles at stake here.
