Saudi Arabia beheading so many prisoners it needs more executioners as Kingdom is tipped to set new slaughter record

The ruthless Saudi government is beheading so many people it needs to recruit a deadly new squad of sword-wielding executioners. The news comes after it slaughtered 37 people in one bloody day last week meaning it is now tipped to kill a record number of its citizens in 2019. The Sharia law-run state has advertised for eight new executioners to handle the projected rise in brutal public beheadings. No special qualifications are needed for the jobs whose main role is “executing a judgement of death” but also involves performing amputations on those convicted of lesser offences. I always find it ironic that a country, who´s history is steeped in the blood of the decapitated, hung, pilloried, keelhauled and those burned at the stake, in a matter of a few short years become the paragons of virtue.

I imagine a country that delivers justice swiftly and brutally has a low crime rate. I dont object to the executions. I object to the kangaroo courts. Something that the Brits know something about.

I had a friend who worked in the Saudi oil fields. He and a coworker took a walk down the streets one afternoon and saw a crowd gathering at the intersection. The coworker made them zip down a side street immediately. He told my friend that they were fixing to behead someone and everyone who was on the street at the time were required to watch the execution. Anyone who tried to sneak away or who turned their heads using the execution were in deep, deep trouble.

The Saudis don´t mess about, do they? Sort of like the lisping Boris the Hangman in Blazing Saddles.

The Chinese are also known for despatching (as the Brits would spell it) their prisoners, although usually by GSW* to the brain stem.

These days, those executed in the USA are all murderers whose guilt is--or should be--100% certain. Any society that refuses to execute the most cold blooded murderers devalues the lives of those killers´ victims. Quicker executions--but not really quick enough--such as the trips to the gurney for D.C. Sniper John Allen Muhammad and Oklahoma City bomber Timothy McVeigh, might still retain at least some value of deterrence.

Some all purpose dirtbags deserve to die, and keeping them alive forever insults the memories of those whose lives they snuffed out. I mean, those who ululate against capital punishment act as though society´s Mansons and Richard Specks are immortal, and that it is immoral to execute them. Nah.

When Ted Bundy got fried in the Chair, he just got a little boost into the afterlife. An actuary would know that the execution hastened by some thirty years what would have happened anyway. Bundy shortened his victims´ lives. Why shouldn´t his be curtailed? If his internal temperature reached 400 and his eyeballs popped out like Adam Schiff´s, why should we care?

*That´s either gunshot wound or George S. Washington. I forget which.

I had a friend who worked for Lockheed Aircraft. Years ago, he was in Saudi Arabia for the company when he and a co-worker were herded by police on the street to a public beheading. He told me it was mandatory for everyone in the vicinity to be witnesses. He would never forget the sight.

This will certainly keep the recidivism rate low.

Hard to get upset about capital punishment, in and of itself, but I suspect that their rules of justice are probably a bit less reasonable than ours, or more likely, a lot less reasonable.

This is a religion/law system which thinks that the appropriate thing to do with homosexuals is to toss them off a 10 story building. And stoning adulterers to death is apparently a national sport in some of these hellholes. So, I don´t expect much legal rigor in their convictions. Probably judges that have a lot in commong with The Red Queen.

The Saudis should force their enemies to live under socialist policies, and let them starve to death. The left is ok with this, never having raised a voice about Venezuela, Cuba, Nicaragua, Soviet Union, or Maoist China. The left is fine with it, as long as things are kept low profile.

Last April 24 was Armenian Genocide Remembrance Day. Millions of Armenians around the world remembered how the Islamic Ottoman Empire killed -- often cruelly and out of religious hatred -- some 1.5 million of their ancestors during World War I. Ironically, most people, including most Armenians, are unaware that the first genocide of Christian Armenians at the hands of Muslim Turks did not occur in the twentieth century; rather it began in 1019 -- exactly one thousand years ago this year -- when Turks first began to pour into and transform a then much larger Armenia

Notre Dame´s three medieval stained-glass windows all survived last night´s devastating fire, the Archbishop of Paris has said, as detectives probe the renovation work which may have led to the blaze. The first daylight pictures inside the wreckage of the Paris landmark today showed the roof destroyed, the 850-year-old church exposed to the elements and the floor covered in charred debris. The Nevada Senate approved Tuesday a National Popular Vote bill on a party-line vote, sending the legislation aimed at upending the Electoral College to the governor. Assembly Bill 186, which passed the Senate on a 12-8 vote, would bring Nevada into the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact, an agreement between participating states to cast their electoral votes for the winner of the popular vote. If signed as expected by Democratic Gov. Steve Sisolak, Nevada would become the 16th jurisdiction to join the compact, along with 14 states and the District of Columbia.

Jerry Nadler was at it again Tuesday, waxing indignant about former White House counsel Don McGahn’s refusal to testify before the House Judiciary Committee. It’s all a show, meant to keep old news in the headlines, and to appease the large “Impeach Now!” wing of the Democratic Party without actually doing anything. Everyone on Judiciary knows perfectly well that Congress can’t compel testimony from top presidential advisers except in the most extraordinary circumstances: The chief executive’s right to frank, confidential discussions with his staff is well-established. So Nadler’s bluster about how he’ll “go to court to secure” McGahn’s appearance is just noise for the cameras. Then again, that’s all

There's a recurring theme in American science fiction where the country loses its way, endures some horrible but cleansing disaster, and then rediscovers the blessings of liberty. You'll find it in Robert Heinlein's "Future History" stories, where the Crazy Years -- a period of rapid technological advances, decaying social norms, and mass psychosis -- leads to the backlash of a religious dictatorship. The Prophets regime is eventually toppled by a liberty-loving group dedicated to individual rights. The theme is even more pronounced in Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged, where a socialist regime puts the country into another Great Depression, only worse. The country's capitalists
