One of the strangest things about the series of psychodramas that surround the ongoing effort to remove President Trump before the 2020 election is progressive schizophrenia. In teenage fashion, one moment a player in the Trump removal intrigue is deemed by the media-progressive nexus a demigod. The next moment, he’s a devil. It depends solely on his perceived sense of utility. (Snip) When Robert Mueller was appointed in May 2017 as special counsel to investigate alleged Trump campaign “collusion” with Russia following the firing of FBI Director James Comey, he was practically canonized as a secular saint.

It´s more that simply adolescent, there´s a religious fervor element. A faith that is unyielding and everything else must fit around their beliefs. Trump colluded with Russia to steal the election because the high priests of the left have so commanded.
Like German soldiers just following orders, the disciples of Marshall Applewhite castrating themselves for a ride on Hale Bopp comet, Jim Jones’s Kool-Aid drinkers, to the subjects in the Milgram experiment, our leftists will adjust all other positions to fit the doctrine of their leaders. When it fit for Mueller to be a hero, so be it he was a hero. When it ceased to fit so be it he wasn’t a hero. The core tenant that Trump colluded with Russia to steal the election from Hillary lives on.

The most difficult part of being a Progressive would be in learning everything that you are supposed to believe. Shutting down the logical piece of the brain seems to come very easy.

There is no reasoning with a sizable percentage of the left. They arent interested in facts, arent willing to entertain alternative explainations, not are tgey capable of logical thought. As far as they are concerned, they are living in a facist, racist nazi regime, governed by a criminal enterprise. They are all living a criminal conspiracy where zero evidence is just proof of a greater coverup. Any evidence thst points in their direction is just a lie.
It doesnt help that the media and elected democrats are just as loopy. While not all of them agree, continueing the narrative serves their purpose by keeping the sheep riled up.
The hazard is when the riled up sheep can no longer be controlled and begin to turn on their creators.

Hanson mercilessly exposes what passes for deep thought amongst the upper reaches of the Democrat Party and the bottom tier of our society.

Since collusion is fading, Dems have to pivot elsewhere this week. At the moment Joe Biden is now the progressive darling who will lead them to the Promised Land. LOL - that adolescent fantasy will require a lot of blind faith.

Another well-reasoned classic by VDH. My only criticism would be that it took him until the last paragraph to identify the root cause of all the angst in the Left: the 2020 Presidential election. All the frantic bobbing and weaving from one “bombshell” to the next, all the breastbeating by one false prophet after another, and all the solemn, but wrong, predictions by the mainstream media derive from a single fear: Trump will be easily re-elected in 2020.
In addition to the fact that Trump is doing a reasonably good job in his many roles, cheerleader for the economy, commander in chief, leader of a party that never really embraced him, trade negotiator, and minister plenipotentiary to intractable rogue regimes across the globe, there is also the realization on the Left that their bench is weak. VDH connects this fear to otherwise inexplicable childish behavior by the Dems and I think he’s got it right. Bringing down Trump by extra-electoral means is their only play and it’s not working.

Progressives believe that humans are perfectible, that the utopia is imminent, that an all-powerful state will be benevolent, and that they are owed free stuff. Lead progressives believe that the downsides of socialism will not affect them, because they will be in charge of everything. They´re more like tween agers than adolescents. Why do people vote for them?

I’m not going to rest assured Trump will win in 2020. After seeing the levels the left will stoop in the last 2 years to destroy people, I wouldn’t put anything past them.

Good article. I soak up Hanson. The first thing that flashed through my mind at reading the title to this article was Dianna West´s book, "The Death of the Grown Up." As a 70 year old baby boomer I very much related to her commentary on the cultural changes of the last 40-50 years. Children have no ethics, they must be learned.

#4 hits on the scariest part of this to my mind. As we saw with the Two reports regarding the Trayvon Martin and gentle giant in Ferguson, the Left is not interested in what even their own Obama/Holder DOJ had to tell them.
They have it deeply embedded in their head that certain things had to have happened, and anything else is just balloon juice to their ears. Evidence? We don´t need no stinkin´ evidence, even when their own Leftist investigators are doing the investigating. They just KNOW that it went the way that their head is telling them. That is what has been baffling to me about the Left.
One more thing too. The DNC/media needs to start reading about what happened during the French Revolution. Sure they got rid of a Queen and King, and a whole bunch of aristocrats. But the rabble was hungry for more blood and they did turn on the instigators of the whole affair at the end. The worm always turns, and the Left has forgotten that fact of life.

I think characterizing Progressives as adolescent does a disservice to adolescents.
Some adolescents are narcissistic, thinking that they are entitled and deserve special treatment.
But, Progressive go far beyond this. They have an arrogant, inflated sense that they are smarter than everybody else. They claim they know what is best for other people while harboring contempt for them as inferior beings. If anybody has the audacity to question their agenda, they attack, seeking to discredit and destroy them.
They are totalitarians that feel they are justified in ramming their agenda down the throats of anybody who gets in their way.

It is true that a normal part of being a teenager is to go thru a ´save the world´ phase. The trick is the kids better learn to improve themselves first, get a real education, work, grow, & take on the responsibility of being adults. The colleges & even the high schools have put a spike in encouraging kids to grow up. Students are coming out of university whining about how other people need to bend to the utopian mandate. They get into HR departments and start up re-education training - the basis of Orwellian nightmares.
