US detects meteor explosion 10 times the energy as atomic bomb: report

Original Article

If a massive meteor explodes above Earth and there are no iPhones to capture it on video, did it really happen? Lindley Johnson, a planetary defense officer for NASA, told the BBC on Sunday that an historic asteroid exploded in the Earth’s atmosphere in December that had 10 times the energy than the Hiroshima atomic bomb. A meteor that size swings by two or three times every 100 years.

Comments:

Add this to the powerful things affecting the global climate for which we have no control: volcanoes, sun activity, earthquakes, and now meteor attacks.

Too bad the writer can´t write, or at best acquired English as a second language. The report is brief and makes the point.

Funny how these meteors always seem to happen over Siberia or some Russian territory.

Perhaps Robert Meuller has some explanation.

One part of this says it was over the Bering Sea, while another says it was just north Thule, Greenland. And did it explode 43km above the surface or actually impact the earth?

Aside from those tiny inconsistencies, maybe the reason the USAF has yet to report it has something to do with the origin story? How do we identify it as a meteor when it´s admitted that we didn´t see it coming?

(Could it have been a ballistic missile, maybe from North Korea? Maybe it was a proverbial shot across the bow, or even an actual attempted attack that missed its mark?)

Is this report intentionally inconsistent or just apparently so?

Ten times the power of the Hiroshima bomb and nobody even noticed it.

Unless it gets to the surface, it just makes some noise.

Yawn.
Almost, coulda, should, might have,....

Ultimately --- Didn´t.

If it landed in a body of water, wouldn´t we be having tsunamis? wouldn´t we be in the beginnings of another Permian Extinction-like event?

#11, not with that small size of a meteor. Maybe a bit of a tsunami, for close by areas, but certainly not anywhere remotely near the extinction class of objects.

A new poll found that nearly 80% of American voters believe that minors should be required to wait until they are adults to pursue transgender procedures. The national survey, conducted by Convention of States Action, in partnership with The Trafalgar Group, polled over 1,000 likely 2022 election voters in October. When asked if they “believe underage minors should be required to wait until they are adults to use puberty blockers and undergo permanent sex change procedures,” the poll found that 78.7% of all respondents comprising Democrats, Republicans, and non-partisan affiliations said they should “wait.”

Liberal mega-donor George Soros has directed $1 million to an activist group attempting to defund the police as violent crime surges in major urban centers across the nation. Soros sent the million dollars via his Color Of Change PAC on May 14, according to Federal Election Commission files obtained by the Washington Free Beacon. The organization describes itself as "the nation’s largest online racial justice organization" and actively engages in efforts to defund police departments such as spreading an online petition calling for "divesting from and dismantling the systems that unjustly harm Black people."

The horrific spread of COVID-19 has filled hospitals and graveyards, shut down the global economy, and exposed deep fissures among nations. The international problems, such China’s rising threat and reliance on foreign sources for critical supplies, are not new. But the contagion puts them in sharp relief and will surely affect relationships going forward. Most changes won’t come until the crisis passes. Right now, policymakers are preoccupied with life-and-death decisions. They don’t want to challenge Beijing while they need its medical supplies and data. They also want to see if it will fulfill its promises in the Phase I trade deal or

Twelve Senate Republicans stopped Donald Trump from invoking a national emergency to pay for a wall on the southern border last Friday…three times as many senators than needed to pass it. That’s the good news. The bad news? Even more Republicans will be needed to override Trump’s veto. What’s worse is the fact that if more Republicans don’t join Democrats in overriding this veto they will provide Trump even more power when he has a history of not acting in the best interest of our country.

Fighter jets shot down the Chinese spy balloon over the Atlantic today after Joe Biden vowed to 'take care of it' and the FAA shutdown three airports in the Carolinas. The balloon was seen bursting at 2.38pm and its payload - the metal structure carrying its cameras - appeared to have been separated as it plummeted towards the ocean off Myrtle Beach. The Biden administration confirmed the shoot-down order around 2pm after the President this morning vowed, 'We're gonna take care of it,' as he stepped off Air Force One at Hancock Field Air National Guard Base, upstate NY.

Community activists in Houston are calling for a restaurant patron who shot and killed a robbery suspect during a holdup to be arrested, saying he went beyond self-defense despite many calling him a hero. Customers were eating inside a local taqueria when 30-year-old Eric Eugene Washington entered and pointed a pistol at them and demanded cash. As he gathered the cash, an armed patron can be seen on surveillance video getting up from the booth he was sitting in and shooting his pistol at Washington multiple times. "He was within the law when he fired the first initial shots," said activist Quanell X in a

Three years after the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, it’s not uncommon to see people wearing masks in public. I try not to judge people when I see someone wearing a mask; after all, the person may have a legitimate need to wear a mask. But what I’ve noticed is that there seem to be a lot of healthy younger people — teenagers and people in their early 20s — who wear masks often, and I have a difficult time understanding it. I’ve had a theory about this phenomenon for some time. I think some people like to keep masking because it makes them feel anonymous. I’m convinced that some people

The U.S. was able to collect valuable information on China’s surveillance capabilities while observing the spy balloon as it traversed the continental U.S. for several days, a senior military official and senior defense official claimed Saturday. President Joe Biden asked for possible military options for removing the threat of the suspected Chinese spy balloon Tuesday, but the Department of Defense (DOD) opted against doing so Wednesday over concerns falling debris could endanger civilians, officials said at a briefing Saturday. However, they did not clarify whether a military option was considered when the craft transgressed U.S. airspace over Alaska’s Aleutian Islands on Jan. 28,

A white, female Willamette University professor is scheduled to host a veritable struggle session this month at a local library “for white people to reflect together on what it means to ‘do our work’ as white people.” The professor, Emily Drew, predictably “teaches courses about racism, white supremacy, immigration, and social change,” according to a biography. “Her research agenda revolves around understanding how race and racism get institutionalized, with the goal of helping to illuminate more effective strategies for interrupting systemic inequality,” the biography reads. She also performs work for Crossroads, an “antiracism” consulting form whose mission centers on “dismantling racism” and “building racial justice in institutions.”
