President Donald Trump announced Friday that the National Garden of American Heroes will be located in the West Potomac Park between the Thomas Jefferson and Abraham Lincoln memorials.
“This magnificent exhibition of statues will be located in West Potomac Park, which we are transforming into one of the World’s most beautiful public spaces,” Trump posted on Truth Social on board Air Force One on his way back from China. “Right now, it is a totally BARREN field of Prime Waterfront Real Estate along our Mighty Potomac River. When finished, West Potomac Park will be a World Class Masterpiece with elegant Landscaping,

With one weekend and a day before the Kentucky primary elections, Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) has found himself with fewer and fewer friends and allies as President Donald Trump has actively sought to primary him over a number of open disputes. Massie, who has served in Congress since November 2012, faces three Republican challengers in next week’s primary voting to decide who will be the Republican contender to serve Kentucky’s 4th congressional district in the House. They are: Trump-endorsed former Navy SEAL Ed Gallrein, Dennis Jackson, and Robert Wells. Trump went so far as to attend a rally in support of Gallrein.

Mayor Zohran Mamdani was blasted for “corrupting history” about the creation of Israel in a vile social media post paying tribute to Palestinians – sent out just before Jewish New Yorkers observed Shabbat.
Mamdani, a staunch critic of Israel, honored “Nakba Day” – marking what Palestinians call the “catastrophe” of the Jewish State’s declaration of independence on May 14, 1948 – in a Friday night post, that included a polished video interview with “Nakba survivor” and city resident Inea Bushnaq.
“Today marks Nakba Day, an annual remembrance to commemorate the expulsion of more than 700,000 Palestinians—

The capitalist is ghosting the socialist.
Mayor Zohran Mamdani has reached out to billionaire Ken Griffin after furious backlash from a “Tax the Rich’ video Hizzoner filmed outside the CEO’s Manhattan apartment – but so far he hasn’t gotten a call back.
The democratic socialist mayor reached out through intermediaries and pitched a potential sit down with Griffin, who heads Citadel, he confirmed Friday – though it wasn’t exactly clear when tried to connect. “We’re still waiting to hear,” Mamdani said at an unrelated press conference before downplaying the offer as one of many to Big Apple business leaders.

President Donald Trump posted a graphic on Truth Social on Tuesday, May 12, showing Venezuela’s outline filled with the American flag and the words “51st State” above it.
The post came one day after Fox News’s John Roberts wrote on X: “Just got off the phone with @realDonaldTrump … he told me he is seriously considering a move to make Venezuela the 51st state…”
Trump’s post follows months of major developments in U.S.-Venezuela relations after the January 3 arrest of Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, by U.S. forces in Caracas in a law enforcement operation authorized by Trump.

Well, let’s expand on that, because I look at sanctuary cities today, and the worst offenders—that’s who I really want to get down to.
I’m watching New York Democrats today, and they are moving to limit local cooperation with [Immigration and Customs Enforcement]. They’re moving to restrict you and ban you and ICE officers from even wearing masks, as I’ve seen a massive surge in the type of violence that’s coming out against ICE officers.
What can we do to ensure that ICE can do their jobs?
As we’re having Democrats in New York, even Boston … I mean,

With the dust on redistricting mostly settled, Republicans appear poised for a double-digit swing of House seats in their favor in the 2026 midterms, at least if all goes according to plan.
The Supreme Court’s decision in Louisiana v. Callais saw the justices narrow Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act and disallow race-based congressional districts. The move triggered map redraws across the South and is expected to result in more than a dozen seats moving toward the GOP, at least in time for 2028.
Democratic countermeasures, meanwhile, have hit a judicial brick wall, with the Virginia Supreme Court striking down that state’s ambitious redraw, saving four Republican seats.

Pravda, Russia's longtime propaganda mouthpiece, has long practiced the art of projection: taking something controversial that Moscow did and trying to make it look like the United States did the same.
Former President Barack Obama ripped a page from the Pravda playbook with his recent appearance on Steven Colbert's show on CBS, suggesting the Trump Justice Department's crackdown on intelligence politicization and law enforcement abuses was somehow a "retribution campaign.
But the 44th president's rhetoric can't mask the growing body of evidence chronicling the direct role he played in shielding Hillary Clinton and concocting —

“When a federal judge shot down a Trump administration policy of holding immigrants without bond last December, it seemed like a serious blow to the US president’s mass deportation effort,” The Guardian told us about a week ago.
“Instead, a top justice department official insisted the ruling wasn’t binding, and the administration continued denying detainees around the country a chance for release.”
That case, The Guardian claims, illustrates a “broader pattern by the US government’s executive branch,” which is now openly defying orders from the lower courts.
The Trump administration, it seems, is learning. Instead of pretending things are a-okay and hunky-dory with the three branches of government—executive, legislative, judicial—

On Sunday, The Wall Street Journal reported that Iran has offered to export and dilute some of its enriched uranium and to pause enrichment for a period of less than 20 years.
Probably the proposed period is 15 years. At the start of this month, anonymous Iranians told Al Jazeera that Iran is offering to pause enrichment for “up to 15 years.” This was a concession: Iran had previously offered to pause for five years.
But the US should stick to its insistence that Iran should give up its nuclear program entirely (as Israel urges). Iran has no civilian need for a nuclear program.

Both the Japanese and German models, then, had real achievements. Both produced world-class companies and generated admiration. Both, however, also concealed the same poison: the gradual conversion of the private company into a social institution whose first duty is no longer to create value, but to preserve existing arrangements.
A zombie firm protects existing employees, managers, lenders and suppliers. It also occupies labor, capital, land, credit and attention that could have gone to new companies, new technologies and new workers. It saves the visible job today by preventing the invisible job tomorrow.
The company ceases to be a vehicle for creating successful products for the marketplace.

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has called the nuclear phaseout a “serious strategic mistake” that left Germany short of firm power that turned the Energiewende into the most expensive energy transition on the planet. This is an early marker for a developing worldwide retreat from policies that sidelined nuclear power and demonized coal, oil, and natural gas. Germany stubbornly closed its last three functioning nuclear reactors in April 2023 right in the middle of a crippling energy crisis triggered by the war in Ukraine. As pragmatists predicted, German citizens now suffer under punishingly high electricity prices and remain heavily dependent on imported energy.
