China is the United States' primary geopolitical rival now. The Middle Kingdom has been arming up, building a navy, and casting a speculative eye at Taiwan - and some other places in the western Pacific. This is the only country right now that could engage the United States in anything like a near-peer conflict.
President Trump is set to visit China in the next few days, and there is, reportedly, a lot on the agenda for him to discuss with China's leader Xi Jinping. It would be fascinating to be a fly on the wall during these discussions,

President Trump on Sunday appeared to reject Iran’s latest proposal in ongoing negotiations over a peace deal, calling the Islamic republic’s offer “totally unacceptable.”
“I have just read the response from Iran’s so-called ‘Representatives.’ I don’t like it — TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE!” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
The president also warned the country against “playing games” after Tehran refused to discuss its nuclear program in its latest response to America’s peace proposal through Pakistani mediators.
Trump slammed the rogue Mideast country for delaying negotiations historically, ranting on the social platform.

As President Donald Trump's second term produces immigration policies, deportations and cultural shifts toward a more concentrated citizen population, red states are passing their own legislation and running candidates focused on thwarting Islamic community developments and reducing their influence.

Europe is wealthier than Russia, its population is larger, and it is more technologically advanced. Yet European leaders increasingly fear the possibility that they might have to defend their borders against Russia without the guarantee of support from the United States.
President Trump dating back to his first term has threatened to pull U.S. military support for European countries as part of their North Atlantic Treaty Organization alliance that was established in 1949 in the aftermath of WWII.

On Friday, Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall petitioned the United States Supreme Court to restore its 2023 congressional maps. As RedState reported, these maps have been restricted from use when a U.S. District Court ruled they were in violation of Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act.
Also on Friday, the Alabama legislature passed two bills which would restore those 2023 maps, and position themselves for a special election using the congressional maps and not the current racially-gerrymandered map.
However, they cannot pull the trigger until these legal wranglings have been worked out. So,

Those are vital services to folks and individuals that need that therapy. But when you have, like in North Carolina, a system that went from $1.4 million or so in total billings for autism therapy to more than $660 million a year in billings on autism therapy within a five-year range, that begs an audit from the state auditor, who in North Carolina, we are the top watchdog agency for taxpayer waste, fraud, and abuse prevention. Both my adult children reached out today to wish me a Happy Mother’s Day. Something big is on the horizon — and the people saying so aren't fringe voices on a podcast. They're senior Trump administration officials.
Monica Crowley, the U.S. government's chief of protocol, dropped a significant claim on Wednesday: hard evidence that Donald Trump won the 2020 presidential election is coming, and it's coming soon. "He did win in a landslide, and we will soon be able to give evidence about that," Crowley said.
Now, she didn't lay out a timeline or spell out exactly what the evidence would look like, but the message was clear.

As night follows day, progressives’ response to the Virginia Supreme Court’s tossing of Gov. Abigail Spanberger’s outrageous gerrymander is to demand an instant court-packing move to undo it.
To lefties driving today’s Democratic Party, it’s not “democracy” unless it’s hard-wired to let them run roughshod — and when their power-grab schemes run afoul of the rule of law, their only answer is a fresh scheme.
Specifically, progs want to ram through a law instantly dropping the retirement age for the Virginia court to 54, which would allow the legislature to replace enough justices to restore the gerrymander.
Spanberger’s already caved to the left in pushing an outrage she’d promised to oppose; will she

Pressure is mounting on the Democratic National Committee to disclose its 2024 election postmortem, with even former Vice President Kamala Harris urging the party to do so despite the risk of embarrassment.
Shortly after taking over, DNC Chairman Ken Martin ordered an autopsy into his party’s 2024 drubbing, but opted to keep that report secret for months, prompting many Democrats to cry foul.
Keeping the report buried was widely seen as a way to aid Harris if she were to throw her hat into the 2028 arena, given that it might be politically mortifying for her.
But even the ex-veep has privately told donors she feels it should be public

The public still has unanswered questions about Democratic North Carolina Gov. Josh Stein securing early release for an untold number of criminals before his term.
Former Democratic Gov. Roy Cooper drew criticism since 2021 for the COVID-19-inspired inmate releases that Stein’s office negotiated while he was Cooper’s attorney general. Stein’s office played a crucial role by capitulating to leftist criminal reform groups who sued in 2020 over the pandemic’s effect on prisons, but he skated to the governor’s mansion in the 2024 elections without enduring as much controversy.
The list of inmates getting released included at least 51 parole-eligible criminals serving life sentences for murder and sex offenses,

North Korea has updated its constitution to require a retaliatory nuclear strike if leader Kim Jong Un is assassinated, according to a report. The Telegraph reported the change comes amid heightened global tensions following the killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and other officials during a recent conflict.
Khamenei was killed in an Israeli strike in Tehran as part of a coordinated U.S.-Israeli military operation earlier this year, Fox News Digital previously reported.
The constitutional revision was approved during a session of North Korea’s Supreme People’s Assembly, which opened March 22 in Pyongyang, the outlet said. South Korea's National Intelligence Service (NIS) briefed senior government officials this week on the update,

President Trump has repeatedly referred to Kim Jong-un as his “friend.” I recognize that this is a bargaining technique and that it is necessary to employ deception when dealing with the likes of Kim, but I wish Trump would not do it.
Kim Jong-un is not Trump’s friend; he is not anybody’s friend. He oversees the operation of brutal concentration camps, and he has reportedly carried out hundreds of executions, most of them public and involving firing squads but some private and involving the killing of pregnant women and teenagers and using blunt instruments such as pipes and hammers. Another interview, and no one asks former President Obama anything. It’s embarrassing, but that’s what you get when you only sit down with people in the tank for you.
Enter Stephen Colbert, who is now the latest to join the “kiss Obama’s butt” effort. At one point, the former President said this:
I’m worried about the Republican Party, not just the Democrat Party. When I was president, people would ask me, ‘What change would you like to see in Washington?’ I’d say, I’d love a loyal opposition. I’d love a Republican Party that was conservative in some ways, that didn’t agree with me on a whole bunch of stuff,

Whenever political violence or incendiary rhetoric hits the news, Democrats are spring-loaded, blurring the facts and insisting that “both sides” are equally to blame. But the truth isn’t nuanced here. For years now, it’s been Democrats and progressives who can’t control their emotions, their rhetoric, or increasingly, their own relationships.
Watch the news on any given day, and the pattern is unmistakable: instead of civil discourse, we get rage; instead of argument, we get shrill absolutism—even in the wake of another presidential assassination attempt.

I do not like Chief Justice John Roberts. I think his loyalties lie more with defending the entrenched powers of the political Establishment than with defending the Constitution of the United States. I find his jurisprudence squishy. Although his decisions could be described as advancing, more often than not, conservative viewpoints, Roberts does not seem to have a consistent philosophy guiding his opinions.

Russian President Vladimir Putin suggested the war in Ukraine was drawing to a close — just hours after he vowed to triumph at Moscow’s puniest Victory Day parade in years.
“I think that the matter is coming to an end,” Putin told reporters inside the Kremlin Saturday about the four-year-long war.
Putin said the United States — which he referred to as a “partner” and “friend” during his remarks, alongside the likes of China and India — was eager to help broker a deal. “Clearly, they have no need for this conflict, as they have many other priorities,” he said.

The Democrat party is facing such a host of seemingly intractable problems -- structural, financial, legal, and ideological -- that it will be close to a miracle if it survives after this year’s midterms. The below deck shuffles -- encouraging illegal alien votes, manipulating the census, making crooked voting almost impossible to check, and stuffing their pockets with illegal contributions through ACT Blue and pay-to-play schemes of USAID and NGOs -- are all suddenly being exposed and blocked.
Empty Pockets
Jeff Childers has done a thorough job explaining the party’s terminal crisis. Being short of funds is a good start.
