The hantavirus-stricken HV Hondius anchored in Spain Sunday morning after the outbreak on the ship left three travelers dead and sparked global concern over a possible wider spread of the rodent-borne illness. The plagued Dutch cruise ship reached Tenerife – the Canary Islands’ largest island – around 6:30 a.m local time as more than 140 passengers and crew started to disembark from the vessel. “All the passengers remain asymptomatic,” Spain’s Health Minister Monica Garcia said during a Sunday morning news conference. “The entire operation is proceeding normally.”

I did not read the article, pressed for time, but just saw on The Conservative Treehouse that the victim and his wife had spent time in Patagonia before getting on the cruise. Patagonia is known for having that kind of hantavirus. Check out the article and comments, very informing.

C'mon man, how are the WHO and the CDC going to turn this into a pandemic if no connection can be made to the United States. Perhaps one of the passengers sent a post card to Aunt Irene in Idaho and it had a brown spot on the back?

Let me guess....the bats will eat the rats and spread it everywhere. And for the low low price of your freedom, your government will protect you. They happen to already have a vaccine in the making that will keep you from getting it....no lessen your symptoms when you get it....well at least make you less contagious and keep you elderly family members safe when you get it....well just get the shots.

"All passenger remain asymptomatic". OK, since the disease has always been only transmitted via rodent droppings and urine, and NO ONE has been infected on the ship, it appears, then perhaps we had a few passengers who got the disease at the landfill in Argentina and suffered from it on board. Since there seem to be no cases of human to human transmission documented, and not one is sick -- seems like it is over. Much ado about something that is over.

Re #7, the disease already "run it's course". No one is sick. It cannot be transmitted person to person. Apparently no one got infected on the ship, but prior to getting aboard. OVER.

After they thoroughly clean and sanitize the ship, they'll have to rechristen it with a new name. #9 - Actually, this particular strain of hantavirus can be transmitted person to person but it isn't common. It also has a 40% fatality rate, much higher than COVID so it isn't something to be trifled with. Like Ebola, it kills off its victims quickly so outbreaks tend to be localized and short duration.

One more reason not to go on those big ship cruises. Not for me but obviously a lot of people love them. We went on one of those Viking river cruises. Great but only 150 guests. I cannot imagine being on a ship with 3,000.

The State Bar of Arizona (SBA) is disbarring another conservative attorney, Vlad Gagic, after he loudly objected on social media to the prosecution of one of his clients, whom he believed was innocent. Gagic told me he acted as a whistleblower, exposing systemic corruption, prosecutorial misconduct, judicial bias and political retaliation. The situation arose while Gagic was defending his former client, Jamaal Pennington, a young black man who Gagic became convinced was wrongly accused of sex trafficking and pimping. Gagic told me he uncovered and documented massive misconduct by the prosecution. When Pennington’s accuser, the key witness against him, recanted her story and said she had identified the wrong man,

Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy confirmed that the shocking accident Friday night in which one individual was killed and more than a dozen more injured was the result of a deliberate trespass on the part of the dead man. Duffy’s conclusion was to warn people not to trespass at airports, because, of course, they are not prepared for random people to run suddenly across runways. But frankly, I think if someone deliberately managed to penetrate that far into an airport as a breach, and walked right out in front of an airplane in takeoff sequence, the person was either on drugs or suicidal.

Iran took an action on Friday that had a lot of people scratching their heads because it didn't make a lot of sense. They announced that they had seized a tanker.Wow, that sounds pretty bold. Except for one thing. It's a tanker, sanctioned by the U.S., carrying Iranian oil. Tehran said the tanker was "exploiting regional conditions." Their state media said the tanker had been turned over to judicial authorities. This may be one of the funniest things the Iranians have done so far. So it appears that either they seized a tanker shipping their own oil in the wake of the U.S. attacks on them on Thursday,

The U.S. media has tabled a question that warrants examining two 20th-century historical events. The question asked is whether U.S. credibility in deterring Iran’s mullahs and getting them to toe the line has been weakened by critics such as comedian Jimmy Kimmel and politicians who mock or otherwise criticize President Donald Trump’s actions against Tehran. The first historical event involves a battle of the Cold War, fought against the Soviet Union on February 22, 1980. While this battle resulted in American blood being shed, it was not due to a military conflict but to an athletic one.

The petition, filed on behalf of Jones and other Democratic leaders in Virginia, argued that the Virginia Supreme Court erred in ruling that an “election” in the Virginia constitution includes the early voting period, instead arguing that under federal law, an “election” refers to a singular day.

The Democrat party is facing such a host of seemingly intractable problems -- structural, financial, legal, and ideological -- that it will be close to a miracle if it survives after this year’s midterms. The below deck shuffles -- encouraging illegal alien votes, manipulating the census, making crooked voting almost impossible to check, and stuffing their pockets with illegal contributions through ACT Blue and pay-to-play schemes of USAID and NGOs -- are all suddenly being exposed and blocked. Empty Pockets Jeff Childers has done a thorough job explaining the party’s terminal crisis. Being short of funds is a good start.
