Journalist Explains Why Vance Was Escorted
From WHCD First, and It Says a Lot About Trump

The law enforcement reaction to the White House Correspondents' Dinner shooting is getting a lot of scrutiny. One of the questions many seemed to have was: why was Vice President JD Vance rushed out of the room before President Donald Trump was? You can see that here, in a post from Fox's Jacqui Heinrich. [Tweet, video] Here's what White House correspondent for Diario ABC, David Alandete, said about the events. [Tweet, video] I was right there. I saw everything. The reason JD Vance left earlier through a different door from Trump's is that he was alone.

Comments:

No surprise.

The Secret Service and the FBI should take a hard look at the democrats who announced they weren't going to attend the dinner. One wonders if some of them knew in advance that something bad was going to happen.

Consider Trump's steady, clear eyed reaction to this incident and consider if he is going to be intimidated or shook up by the infantile stupidity of the Left or by political silliness or by a game playing Iran. Trump is a political Warrior and he doesn't flinch or come apart under fire. His opponents would do well to remember who they are dealing with.

Poster #5 - The POTUS and VP were not seated next to each other. That's the whole point. JD was seated at the other end of the table, closer to a different exit area so they were able to quickly grab him and get him out. Trump had the first lady, the host of the event (can't remember her name), and his very pregnant press secretary with him at the other end. And, he was in the middle of that group, not at the end of the table.

Nerves of steel, indeed. You cannot fake what you do under actual threatening conditions, it goes to the core of who and what you are. Trump has twice proven that he is extremely brave and very cognizant of the danger to himself and others around him. Vance could go quickly, solo, and that was important to do.

Actually ... it looks like Vance really didn't want to go! They pull the chair out with him in it. His military mind kicked in before he realized his new position as Veep means he has to go.

Well, there were different SS crews handling Pres Trump and VP Vance's security. They didn't sit around deciding who to save first. Each team went to work and did its job. It sounds like the first perimeter of defense worked. The perp ran the perimeter and was stopped. Yeah, I'd like the fact that there is multiple perimeters of defense would stop anyone from thinking about trying to breach them, but hey, once in awhile someone tries to break through. That's why you have them. What got me was how that ballroom was packed. The WCHA and the Hilton obviously scheduled this for a night they knew that the DC Fire Marshalls would be out of town. If a gunman had reached the ballroom, there would have been a bloodbath just from the crossfire of the security and the gunman (or, if there had been multiple assailants). But there's another thing that worries me. Fire. That ballroom is underground, I assume the exits are all above the room. If a fire had occurred in that room, getting those people (beyond the President and those on the dais) would have been almost impossible. Attendees reported that when they sat in their chairs at their tables, the back of the chairs were touching the chairs of the next table. The toll of dead and injured would have been much, much greater than any idiot assassin. They'd better find a much bigger venue for the rescheduled event.

Just one day after the Supreme Court of Virginia (SCOVA) heard oral arguments about the legality of the legislative process used by Democrat lawmakers to get last week's redistricting/gerrymandering referendum in front of voters, the court on Tuesday shut down efforts by Attorney General Jay Jones to certify the results of that referendum. At the heart of Tuesday's order was the RNC v. Koski case, which RedState's Jennifer Oliver O'Connell reported on last week. On Wednesday afternoon, Tazewell Circuit Court Judge Jack Hurley Jr. ruled that Tuesday's referendum is unconstitutional and issued an injunction preventing the certification of the election maps.

There is a pattern now. Not an accident. Not a coincidence. A pattern. Say something reckless, watch the temperature rise, act surprised when something breaks—and then, because apparently nothing was learned, do it again. If that sounds harsh, just look at what happened this week. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said something that shouldn’t even be controversial: rhetoric matters. When people in positions of power constantly frame their opponents as existential threats or enemies, they aren’t calming anything down. They’re pouring fuel on it. That’s just reality. But instead of taking the hint—maybe dialing things back even a notch—House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries went the other direction entirely. He leaned in.

In their attempt to get President Donald Trump killed, Democrats are hitting zero. You might think that’s a glib way to put it, but how else can you explain the repeated attempts to inspire someone to kill the president and the deflated “we have to condemn all political violence” that inevitably follows? It’s performance art – they have to pretend to be shocked that someone acted on what they’d been openly hinting they’d like to have happen, because otherwise the next person might not be inspired by their rhetoric to pick up the mantle and try to finish the job. I realize I’m a cynical person – always have been,

Greg Gutfeld absolutely nailed it when he talked about Cole Allen, the suspect arrested for the third failed assassination attempt on President Trump. Allen's manifesto made it very clear that he was targeting the President and members of his Cabinet. Despite the Left insisting there isn't violent rhetoric coming from their side, it's a problem. And Greg Gutfeld spelled it out perfectly. [Tweet, video] (Snip) "I disagree with Jessie. This guy did hear voices. If former FBI Director James Comey thought he was out of legal trouble, think again: he has just been indicted by the Justice Department. Details are limited, but this is happening, with Fox News reporting that it originates from his 2025 Instagram post, in which he seemingly called for the assassination of President Donald Trump, who avoided another incident at the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner on Saturday. Cole Allen, 31, attempted to storm the Washington Hilton ballroom with a shotgun and other weapons, aiming to target Trump and his top officials. In a social media post, Comey took a picture of ‘8647’ in seashells,

Less than 24 hours after a gunman tried to breach the Washington Hilton during the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, the Department of Justice sent a blunt message to the lawyers blocking construction of the president’s proposed White House ballroom: drop the lawsuit, or the government will move to end it for you. The letter, dated April 26, was signed by Brett Shumate, Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Division, and addressed to Greg Craig of Foley Hoag LLP, outside counsel for the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Craig served as White House Counsel under Barack Obama and as Clinton’s personal defense lawyer during the 1990s impeachment proceedings.

It happened again: a deranged leftist, Cole Allen, fueled by hate, came too close to assassinating President Donald Trump at the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner on Saturday night. Allen, who lives in Torrance, California, is a 31-year-old teacher and video game developer. He charged at the security checkpoint, right outside the ballroom. Before being tackled, Allen fired shots, hitting one Secret Service agent, who will make a full recovery because he was wearing a bulletproof vest. Ironically, the dinner was held at the Washington Hilton, where President Ronald Reagan was seriously wounded by John Hinckley, Jr. on March 30, 1981. Allen is believed to have traveled to Washington, D.C. by train

Despite a $7.1 billion hole, Mayor Zohran Mamdani has pushed back against any serious cutting to his budget and instead wants to delay required payments to city pension funds. That’s precisely the kind of tactics that brought the city to the brink of bankruptcy in the ’70s. At the least, it will saddle future taxpayers with unnecessary costs. For the moment, the city is on-track to meeting its long-term pension-funding obligations by its 2032 deadline. Yet to help close his budget hole, Mamdani would push $1 billion worth of payments into the 2040s. That would be both costly and risky.
