Birthright citizenship and the meaning

The Supreme Court of the United States recently heard arguments on the future of birthright citizenship, a moment that forces the country to revisit a question that is both constitutional and deeply personal: What does it mean to be an American citizen? Before parsing the language of the Fourteenth Amendment or debating the meaning of “subject to the jurisdiction thereof,” we have to return to first principles. Citizenship is not simply a matter of where someone happens to be born. American citizenship has always been more than a geographic accident. It is a covenant between the individual and a constitutional framework built on the rule of law, individual liberty,

The iconic lakerman(that's me) sadly predicts a 6-3 decision by the supreme court, on the birthright case, calling DJT's executive order unconstitutional, suggesting a solution is too complex for the Court to handle. The Court will propose that Congress should handle it,. Roberts will write the majority opinion, Thomas will write the dissent, joined by alito and kavenagh..

Some of them are VERY confused about what "allegiance"means. That's scary.

Brilliantly written essay, Trump's solicitor general should have made these same points in this manner. Of course, the excellent logic in the article flies in the face of the dumbest SCOTUS jurist in history equating overseas criminality to citizenship. If a dog comes on my lawn and has a litter, none of those dogs are mine. Likewise, if a pregnant woman breaks into a house and has her child on the living room floor, that doesn't make either of them a member of the household or the homeowner's responsibility. That said, #1 is likely right, as it's at least a 5-4 decision the wrong way since Roberts and Barrett are a lost cause.

The lawyers did not argue the case very well and the Supremes noticed. That being said, will the Supremes discuss was what not said and find for Trump, or will they confine themselves to what was presented and keep birthright status? We shall see.

The word, "allegiance" that was hopelessly butchered by the brilliant Ketanji Onyika Brown Jackson, is not on the minds of people who are born here due to the devious, elaborate plans of their parents. Unfortunately it has nothing to do with serving America and everything to do with financing the home country as well as forging a financial stream for democrats. California is heavily populated by Mexicans and Chinese holding citizenship and green cards and no doubt other cities and states that are not so obvious about it. It is wrong and it needs to be stopped, preferably retroactively. Xi Jinping and Claudia Sheinbaum do not approve this message.

Citizenship is dependent on where you were born AND allegiance. Not or. As allegiance cannot be effectively applied to a newborn, that of the parents is considered. If parents are in this country without allegiance you are an alien just like them. What is so complicated?

During the Supreme Court hearing last week anyone paying attention would have heard about English common law being the genesis, or sort of the genesis, for “birthright” citizenship” apparently across the old British Empire. But what we did not hear is that the modern United Kingdom (UK) many years ago did away with “birthright citizenship” and substituted it for inherited citizenship based upon the baby’s parents citizenship. So if a parent or parents of a child born in the U.K. are citizens of Slabobia the child is considered to also be a citizen of Slabobia. But if the child’s parents citizenship is British, the child is also considered to be British. There appears to be some exceptions for children born to citizens of the Republic of Ireland who are born in the U.K.?

Is Los Angeles waking up? According to the California Post, there's been a change in the polling pattern for the Los Angeles mayor's race, which in a crowded field suddenly shows a conservative in second place, with most voters still undecided. The primary is in June and a runoff will be held in November if no candidate manages to break 50% of the vote. The Post reports: Reality TV star Spencer Pratt is becoming a real player in Los Angeles politics, rocketing into second place in the latest mayor’s race poll and scrambling what was already shaping up to be a volatile election.

While the globalist media clutches its pearls and screams that NATO is “hollowed out,” President Donald J. Trump is once again being proven 100% right. The latest Iran fiasco has ripped the mask off Europe’s so-called “allies.” France, Germany, and the UK just refused to back America in a real crisis, treating NATO like some kind of optional social club instead of the mutual defense pact it’s supposed to be. French President Macron, UK’s Keir Starmer, and Germany’s Friedrich Merz openly declared the crisis “Not Our War!” They blocked logistics support, refused to let NATO become Washington’s “auxiliary force,”

A few days ago, according to a leaked exchange, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian told an Iranian military counterpart that their nation’s economy will face collapse in three more weeks without an immediate cease-fire. He’s not wrong. Conventional wisdom holds that an air campaign alone cannot trigger a popular uprising, so the combined US-Israel effort in Operation Epic Fury won’t result in meaningful regime change. But that fails to recognize there’s a second front in this conflict: economic warfare. And on that front, Iran has already lost. President Trump’s goal in his first term was to resolve the Iran issue through primarily economic means.

Peeved City Council members roundly ripped Mamdani after he used one of his slick social-media videos Wednesday to call out Speaker Julie Menin by name and wrongly portray her budget proposal — an alternative to his doomsday version — as slashing billions of dollars from city agencies.

I'm so disappointed in NATO, because this was a test for NATO," said President Trump on March 26 while speaking about the Iran war. While President Trump has long criticized the UN and NATO, there is a major difference between the tremendous failings of the two organizations. A quick review of their structures shows that while the U.N. is probably impossible to course-correct, NATO is a very different story. The U.N. is bloated, paralyzed, and utterly incapable of meeting the challenges of the world today.

The President said the UK “doesn’t even have a navy” as he accused Keir Starmer of only caring about building “windmills”. He also dismissed Nato as a “paper tiger” and said America leaving the military alliance was now “beyond reconsideration”. Virginia Democrats’ proposed redraw of the state’s House map would effectively strip the state’s rural communities of federal representation, a conservative group argues in a new study. The lopsided gerrymander backed by Democratic Gov. Abigail Spanberger and former President Barack Obama would most likely change Virginia’s House makeup from six Democrats and five Republicans to 10 Democrats and just one Republican — if a majority of the state’s voters back it on April 21. In a policy brief first obtained by the Daily Caller News Foundation, Defend Forgotten America (DFA) calls the plan a “structural demolition of rural representation,”

The New York Times set out Friday to embarrass President Donald Trump over his hardline stance on NATO. It wound up spectacularly backfiring on them. Several NATO nations have declined to join a U.S.-Israel military operation targeting Iran. Alliance members also refused Trump's requests to deploy their forces to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, much to the chagrin of President Trump, who figures that if NATO allies won’t help the United States, then the alliance has become meaningless. So the paper ran a piece criticizing Trump's threats to withdraw from the alliance, and the print edition’s headline asked a pointed question: "A North American Treaty Organization Without America?"
