President Donald Trump on Friday signed an executive order directing federal officials to ensure Transportation Security Administration (TSA) employees receive pay during the ongoing Department of Homeland Security (DHS) shutdown. Calling the situation an "emergency," Trump warned that mounting disruptions at airports have pushed the system to a breaking point. "As the Democrat-caused shutdown of the Department of Homeland Security continues well into its sixth week, America’s air travel system has reached its breaking point," Trump wrote. "This is an unprecedented emergency situation."

For most of my life, Westerners have been harangued by feminists over our having a "rape culture."
It's always annoyed me a bit because, while rapes obviously do happen, my own experience is that rape is considered one of the most heinous crimes, comparable with murder. After two months of unyielding negotiations, both parties gave up early Friday on reaching a grand accord to reform and fund the Department of Homeland Security.
Instead, Senate Republicans accepted what Democrats have been offering for weeks — cash for all of DHS except for ICE and part of Customs and Border Protection. The Senate approved the funding package by a voice vote and is now expected to begin a scheduled two-week recess. The House could vote as soon as Friday, before the shutdown would break the record Saturday night for the longest funding lapse of any federal agency in U.S. history.
Senate Majority Leader John Thune called the outcome “unfortunate” Friday.

In February 2009, the future Minnesota Congresswoman Ilhan Omar married a man named Ahmed Nur Said Elmi. It was her first legal marriage. The marriage ceremony was conducted by a Christian ministesr. There is no dispute about these facts, which are recounted by the Post.
All available evidence points to Elmi being Omar’s biological brother. No evidence points away from this fact.
But I have never understood the fixation on motivation. As with my “motive unclear” series, the alleged inability to confirm a motive does not erase the underlying act.
