Former President Joe Biden told mourners at Rev. Jesse Jackson’s memorial service Friday that he is "a h--- of a lot smarter than most of you," a pointed remark that stood out during his tribute to the late civil rights leader. Biden made the comment while recounting how he was mocked as a child for his stutter and how speech impediments are often mistaken for a lack of intelligence.
"If I told you I had a cleft palate or clubfoot, none of you would have laughed," Biden said. "But it’s OK to laugh at stuttering. … It’s the one place where people think you’re stupid.

President Trump didn’t attend the star-studded memorial service for the Rev. Jesse Jackson but he was at the top of mind for many of its speakers. Kamala Harris, Barack Obama, Joe Biden, and Al Sharpton all used their eulogies to take pot shots at the president, his policies, and his vision for America.
“Let me just say I predicted a lot about what’s happening right now,” Harris bragged as the crowd roared in applause. “I’m not into saying I told you so but we did see it coming." She did not mention Trump by name but it was clear she was talking about his presidency. Trump overwhelmingly beat her

At times, you could be forgiven for having thought that Kristi Noem wanted to be a uniformed Department of Homeland Security officer rather than the secretary of the department.
Now, the cabinet member most inclined to glamour shots out in the field is going to have to go back to wearing civilian clothes.
For all his trademark firings during “The Apprentice” and the rapid turnover of his first term, President Trump has been loath to oust top officials this time around.
Noem is the exception, and she’s earned the dubious distinction.

A Democrat Minnesota state lawmaker has called for a study to see if there is a "benefit of shoplifting and retail theft" while he was discussing the topic in a committee meeting on Thursday.
Democrat state Rep. Dave Pinto stated, "Yesterday, there was a presentation from a group seeking to change how we address organized retail theft,
and I actually had not occurred to me to ask, it probably would have been good, it would have been good to make sure that they would study sort of the benefit of shoplifting and of retail theft because perhaps people are relying on that and sort of using that. Maybe it's

The Obama Presidential Center’s grand opening celebrations will begin in June, almost five years after its groundbreaking in Chicago, the Obama Foundation announced. The center -- a museum and public gathering space in honor of former President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama -- will be dedicated on Thursday, June 18, and the campus will open to the public the next day, the foundation said in a press release. The celebrations will run through June 21 "with a series of events that bring together the changemakers, community members, volunteers, and supporters who made the Obama presidency a reality and

American gasoline prices continued to rise on Friday and are up the most of any week since 2022. Iran widened attacks on energy-producing countries near its borders and the Strait of Hormuz remains closed to shipping, dashing hopes for a quick resolution to a crisis sending shockwaves through global markets. The United States last Saturday began a military campaign in Iran, one that has continued throughout the week with aggression. Friday at 1 p.m. Eastern, the U.S. national average price for regular gasoline had jumped approximately 35.9 cents per gallon from the same time in the previous week, reaching approximately $3.34 per gallon, according to GasBuddy.

The cranky Vermont senator who believes billionaires should be abolished wants to legislate them out of existence. It’s too bad that he doesn’t understand that one billionaire is more valuable than a thousand Bernie Sanders.
“Billionaires should not exist,” Sanders, who identifies as a socialist, raged in 2019 during his previous attempt to hit the wealthy with an additional tax that punished them for their success.
That effort, the New York Times reported, was “particularly aggressive in how it would erode the fortunes of billionaires” and “would cut in half the wealth of the typical billionaire after 15 years,

President Trump cast Tucker Carlson out of his Make America Great Again movement following the conservative talking head’s loud criticism of the US and Israeli assault on Iran.
“Tucker has lost his way,” the commander-in-chief told ABC News’ Jonathan Karl on Thursday. “I knew that a long time ago, and he’s not MAGA. MAGA is saving our country. MAGA is making our country great again. MAGA is America first, and Tucker is none of those things. And Tucker is really not smart enough to understand that.”
The comments came after Carlson recently called the strikes on Iran “absolutely disgusting and evil.”

A significant number of House Democrats voted “no” on declaring the Islamic Republic of Iran a “state sponsor of terrorism.”
Sponsored by Rep. Brian Mast (R-FL), the resolution passed the U.S. House on Thursday by a 372-53 vote. Two Democrats voted present. While squad members like Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), Ilhan Omar (D-MN), Ayanna Pressley (D-MA), and Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) were expected to vote “no,” a full 53 proved somewhat surprising. The resolution said nothing about President Trump’s strikes on Iran, while saying the regime “remains the world’s largest state sponsor of terrorism and provides substantial financial and military support to groups including Hezbollah, Hamas, and the Houthis,”

A long-time U.S. Supreme Court reporter for the New York Times, Linda Greenhouse, recently wrote a surprisingly candid description of how U.S. Chief Justice John Roberts added "gratuitous" language into his opinion on the recent tariff case, personally criticizing the president on record. Greenhouse conveniently frames the justice's indulgence, however, as a legitimate "warning" to both the president and "the waiting world." She states that Roberts "is losing patience with Trump." Apparently, the chief justice is thought to be entitled to act as a shadow president.

Thursday on MS NOW’s “The Briefing,” Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN) said former Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem will have to answer questions from investigators in Minnesota.
Walz said, “Former Secretary Noem should probably get used to spending more time in Minnesota because I have a pretty good feeling in the future she may be doing that because we have got to get accountability.”
Host Jen Psaki said, “When you say she, she’s just expect to spend some time, more time in Minnesota what do you mean by that?”
Walz said, “Well, look, our folks are going to be, looking into each and every one of these incidents that happened.

Does being an European "ally" of America even mean anything anymore? That's a valid question after several NATO nations not only initially denied the use of their military bases during Operation Epic Fury, the ongoing attack on Iran, but also offered tacit support for the Islamic regime. Perhaps the most public betrayal came from Spain, whose left-wing prime minister claimed the United States was violating "international law."Given Spain's history over the last century or so, it wasn't exactly surprising that they'd take the side of Islamic fascists over the country that pays for their defense.
