Back when Attorney General Keith Ellison was a mere Congressman instead of the Attorney General of my state, he passed only one bill during his 12 years in that august body. Of all the bills he sponsored, he was able to successfully pass only one. It must have been really important to him to put it all on the line to convince his colleagues to go along with him, right? After all, it wasn't to rename a post office or anything. It was to actually change a policy intended to prevent money laundering.
He had to be pretty passionate and persuasive.

The antics of Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz have been much in the news of late, but the corporate media has studiously ignored the legal and historical context of his refusal to comply with federal immigration law. Minnesota is just one of 16 Democrat-controlled states that have enacted measures that violate the Constitution’s Supremacy Clause (Article VI, Clause 2), which provides that federal law takes precedence over conflicting laws passed by states. These Democrats are reenacting the nullification crisis that historians regard as a precursor to the Civil War.
Remember 2020, the halcyon days of mask mandates? I was working in New Jersey when the entire COVID panic started, and one would have thought the very air had turned radioactive. Many people accepted it as a silly necessity, but there are always those who take things to a ridiculous level. Last Thursday Vice President JD Vance joined a White House press briefing to discuss initiatives the Trump administration is taking to investigate the pervasive welfare fraud that has been discovered in Minnesota. He was inevitably asked questions about the death of Renee Good after she attempted to drive her SUV over an ICE agent in Minneapolis. Vance described the media coverage of the death as “disgraceful,” and followed up with this question: “You guys are meant to report the truth. How have you let yourselves become agents of propaganda?”
It was hardly necessary to consult the Delphic Oracle to know that every Democrat within reach of a microphone would denounce President Trump’s military action against Venezuelan dictator Nicolás Maduro. It was, however, surprising to discover how ignorant the Democrats are about the President’s authority to deploy military forces. Saturday morning, for example, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) brayed, “The Trump administration has not sought congressional authorization for the use of military force and has failed to properly notify Congress in advance of the operation in Venezuela.” Jeffries is evidently unaware of the War Powers Resolution of 1973 (WPR).

At the end of October, the center-left group WelcomePAC published Deciding to Win, a comprehensive exploration of why Democrats lost the 2024 election and what they must do to start winning again. It drew on surveys of more than 500,000 voters conducted over a six-month period and found that 70 percent of voters think the Democratic Party is “out of touch” and only 39 percent say the party has the “right priorities.” It recommended that the party moderate its most unpopular positions, avoid ideological purity tests, and offer genuine solutions to issues the voters actually care about.
It took me months to understand the whole concept of "woke right," and, to be honest, I still dislike the description because it takes so long to grasp.
While I basically agree with James Lindsey's arguments, it's a branding fail. Memes should be intuitive, IMHO. So what IS the woke right, and why would I put Tucker Carlson, Marjorie Taylor Greene, Candace Owens, Nick Fuentes, and Andrew Tate in that category, along with others?

The New Yorker at 100, a new documentary airing on Netflix, has a lot going for it. The impressive history of the legendary magazine, going back to the 1920s, is recounted, and great contemporary writers, like music critic Kelefa Sanneh, are interviewed. Where it falls down is in avoiding the New Yorker’s worst mistakes, namely falling for Russiagate and perpetuating the Brett Kavanaugh fiasco.
It’s a shame, because The New Yorker at 100 does cop to serious mistakes - most obviously, the fact, revealed years later, that parts of Truman Capote’s 1965 crime story In Cold Blood were made up.

Iran claimed this week to have successfully tested its first long-range intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM), a capability that would enable Tehran to strike the eastern seaboard of the United States, according to regime-controlled outlets.

Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes wildly suggested that residents can open fire on masked ICE agents if they feel their life is in danger under the state’s self-defense laws.
The Democrat, in a sit-down with 12 News anchor Brahm Resnik, warned that Arizona’s “Stand Your Ground” law, which allows citizens to use deadly force if they believe they’re in imminent danger, could become a “recipe for disaster” if protesters clash with immigration officers.

The private sector is built on merit and legitimate contribution, so it goes without saying that people without such things have no place in that type of economy. Some of us are old enough to remember Matthew Lesko, the lanky, fast-talking late-night TV pitchman who promised people free government money to those who bought his books.
There are, Lesko said in one of his countless ads decades ago, “15,000 programs you can use to get a better job, get an education, or start your own business. Those who know about the programs are the ones who get the money!” Lesko was right about how easy it is to get taxpayer money.
What Lesko didn’t say is that it’s easy to do even when it violates the law — especially if you live in a state run by Democrats.

William Kelly, one of the anti-U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agitators who disrupted a service at Cities Church in Saint Paul, Minn., on Sunday, has been arrested.

For decades, airlines have subordinated safety to diversity quotas.
President Donald Trump rightly recognized this danger: Early on, he ordered the Federal Aviation Administration and Department of Transportation to rescind all DEI initiatives and return to merit-based hiring and promotions. But the FAA can, and must, do more. Federal law makes it illegal to run an airline “without an air carrier operating certificate.”
These certificates must “contain terms necessary to ensure safety” and can be revoked if the “public interest” requires it. So the government has leverage. And the stakes are sky-high.
