MELBOURNE, Australia — A man who set fire to a Melbourne synagogue while worshippers were inside was motivated by mental illness rather than antisemitism, an Australian magistrate said on Monday.
A v, 35, had pleaded guilty to arson and recklessly placing people at risk of death on July 4 when he doused the front door of the East Melbourne Synagogue with flammable liquid and ignited it. Around 20 worshippers were inside sharing a Shabbat meal, but no one was injured.

MEBOURNE, Australia (AP) — An Australian senator who is campaigning for a national burqa ban was barred Tuesday from Parliament for the rest of the year for wearing the Muslim garment in the chamber.
Pauline Hanson, the 71-year-old leader of the anti-Muslim, anti-immigration One Nation minor party, was accused of performing a disrespectful stunt on Monday when she walked into the Senate shrouded in the head-to-ankle garment to protest fellow senators’ refusal to consider her bill that would ban the burqa and other full-face coverings in public places.

President Donald Trump signed an executive order Monday targeting the Muslim Brotherhood movement, instructing cabinet members to investigate branches of the radical Sunni movement ahead of a possible terror blacklisting.
The measure tasks the State Department and the Treasury Department with gathering information on various branches of the Muslim Brotherhood to assess whether they should be designated as either Foreign Terrorist Organizations (FTO) or Specially Designated Global Terrorists (SDGTs).

The Christian world faces an existential threat while encumbered by moral ambiguity, creeping secularism, and postmodern pacifism – creating a strategic failure of historic proportions. In Nigeria, the systematic extermination of Christians continues unabated. Churches are torched, pastors executed, and entire villages eradicated by the ancient scourge of Islam...Christendom must organize, fund, and deploy a private volunteer military force: proficient, disciplined, spiritually motivated, and strategically focused to defend Christian communities wherever the threat may be.

President Trump announced Friday that he is designating Nigeria as a "country of particular concern," citing the widespread killings of Christians in the West African country. "Christianity is facing an existential threat in Nigeria," Trump posted to Truth Social. "Thousands of Christians are being killed. Radical Islamists are responsible for this mass slaughter. I am hereby making Nigeria a "COUNTRY OF PARTICULAR CONCERN" — But that is the least of it."
The President emphasized that action must be taken when people are persecuted for their faith.

The Army is launching a sweeping new nuclear program to generate power for bases across the globe, particularly in remote or contested locations where fuel might be difficult to obtain, Fox News Digital has learned. "Hundreds of millions" of dollars will be funneled into the program known as the Janus Project over the next five years, according to Dr. Jeff Waksman, the Army official leading the effort, to install next-generation commercial microreactors at military sites.
"Great power conflict is defined by who can move their resources around," Waksman said. Energy demands are only set to increase as modern warfare trends toward drones, directed-energy weapons and artificial intelligence.

Day by day, year by year, what once was unthinkable has now become celebrated, and even protected by law. Meanwhile, what was once virtuous or admired is seen as hateful and backwards. The older you are, the more you see it. In the recent past, America and Europe were grounded in a Christian ethos, one that influenced everything in society. Today, a kind of egalitarian, nihilistic ethos—in which individuals create their own beliefs and shape their lives and actions around them—is taking over. If you don’t accept or tolerate those behaviors, no matter how deranged …

Ben Shapiro and Bill Maher sparred over morality and the Bible on "Real Time with Bill Maher: Overtime" Friday, and the conservative Orthodox Jewish commentator received an unexpected reaction from the liberal comedian’s Los Angeles audience. Maher, the star of the anti-religion documentary "Religulous" and a well-known atheist, said the Bible contains "nonsense" and "wickedness."
