A federal judge has permanently blocked President Donald Trump from deploying the National Guard to Portland. U.S. District Judge Karin Immergut issued the 106-page ruling on Friday for the lawsuit filed after Trump sent troops to secure U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement facilities. The state of Oregon, the city of Portland, and the state of California sued Trump, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, and Defense Secretary Kristi Noem. [Tweets] The ruling said that there wasn't enough violence at the protests to require the National Guard, and local police broke up the fights.

Comments:

Soon to be overturned by SCOTUS, as they have done previously.

Shouldn’t the President as C-in-C be deciding whether or not the violence is severe enough? What expertise does a law school trained, unelected judge have in the matter? This will be overturned for sure. But we must eliminate this intermediate step once and for all?

This was decided in 1791...By George Washington, the congress and the Supreme court. The President can order ANY military units, and any/all militias(Guard units) to go where he pleases, as he pleases, regardless of the wishes/consent of any state's governors and/or legislatures. Perhaps with the Govt shut down, lack of budget...it is time to "Close and consolidate" certain Federal courts, lay off some judges, retain only those needed for the "Govt to function"

"The ruling said that there wasn't enough violence at the protests to require the National Guard," Neither this judge nor any other is qualified or has the authority to make that determination. The way this judge and others are acting, we have no need for elections since they are assuming authority of both the Congress and the Executive branches of government. They need to be debenched

I have a good friend who has spent over 40 years as a lawyer at the top of his field. He's long said the quality and knowledge of judges has fallen to yhe point that many judges are lawyers who couldn't cut it in private practice or the courtroom but have enough political acumen to get elected or appointed. Often, he has to teach them the law. Looks like this has extended to the federal judiciary as well.

Until the time that Barack Obama took office, I had a reasonable amount of faith in the U.S. federal government. I knew that those on the Left in positions of leadership, as well as some on the Right, often concocted narratives for their own ends. The mainstream media decidedly leaned Left, and shaded every story, feature, event, and happening in the U.S. and around the world to their own point of view. Still, it was easy enough to get past what they were claiming. Maybe Some Good Could Result With the ascension of Barack Obama and his subsequent election as POTUS, I thought, okay, I’d never vote for him,

I can’t change the direction of the wind, but I can adjust my sails to always reach my destination. —Jimmy Dean It’s time to adjust our sails. On the heels of Tuesday’s electoral victories, the Democrats are motivated and energized: In their estimation, the so-called “Schumer Shutdown” is working marvelously, because the American people are blaming the Republicans. And the Democrats are reaping the political benefits. That’s because voters know that the White House, Senate, and House are all under GOP control, but they don’t really understand the nuances of parliamentary procedure. (Yawn: boring!) Instead of focusing on the 60-man threshold necessary to overcome a Democratic filibuster, they’re focusing on leadership:

A split-second image can fuel outrage, (Snip) Yet behind the noise lay a moment that said more about leadership than any carefully crafted address could. That moment came during a White House event on Thursday focused on expanding access to obesity treatments. In the middle of the ceremony, a guest suddenly collapsed in the Oval Office as President Trump spoke about making life-saving weight-loss medications more affordable and accessible for Americans struggling with obesity. White House medical staff rushed to assist, and after prompt on-site care, the man is reportedly in stable condition.

The Supreme Court's decision to allow the administration to pay only partial SNAP benefits during the shutdown gives Donald Trump and the Republicans in Congress a clear road to victory in the shutdown fight now entering its 39th day. SCOTUS recognized that this is not a separation of powers constitutional issue. It's a political issue, and the Supreme Court tends to avoid intervening in political disputes. The ball is now firmly in the hands of the Democrats, who have gotten themselves into a no-win situation. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer tried a delay gambit, offering to reopen the government

It was a screenshot of a woman going off about how her food stamps were cut off, the $1,000 per month she and her family supposedly get from the government, juxtaposed against her being called out by someone else for hair extensions, expensive trips to the nail salon, and tattoos. In short, she wastes money on unnecessary things and then demands money from the government to support herself. The White House has asked a federal appeals court to issue an emergency block, after a federal judge ruled on Thursday that the administration would have to pay full Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program (SNAP) payments in full amid the longest government shutdown in United States history. Judge Jack McConnell of the U.S. District Court in Rhode Island rejected the Trump administration’s request to pay only 65 percent of SNAP benefits this month. The U.S. Department of Agriculture has a $5 billion contingency fund for emergencies like the Schumer Shutdown, but that amount falls short of the $8.5 to $9 billion needed to fully fund monthly SNAP payments.

The theory sounded far-fetched and absurd, but Germans bought into it. However, the reality was a total disaster. Fast-forward to today, and Germany is now raising its retirement age to 70.
