The 42-day federal shutdown forced by Democrats thrust the economics of Obamacare into the limelight, and exposed an uncomfortable truth: An insurance industry whose executives are increasingly liberal donors has seen its earnings soar with the injection of taxpayer-funded subsidies that propped up Barack Obama's signature health program from collapse.
The nation’s largest health insurance companies have seen good business since Obamacare was first passed in 2010 and fully implemented in 2014. This has come in no small part because of federal government subsidies to the insurance industry, which government estimates show totaled $1.8 trillion in 2023 alone.

Same thing as the electric vehicle scam.
Those in power have the government props it up, their cronies get big cash, their cronies donate to their political campaign, they pull the plug on the program and it collapses.
It is government money laundering.

Scam begets scam. Remember obama was and is a scam. So was biden, hillary, piglosi, etc. Almost all of the federal government is a scam. It's why we should shun every plan to put money BACK into our pockets and demand extreme reduction of our taxes. Extreme! and we send a simple check at the end of the year. That should help them budget better. The largest tax cut in history does not cut it. The less the money flows the less scamming we'd get. The scams would be too easy to spot.

I am not condoning it, but this is why the CEO of United Healthcare was shot and killed. You pay your premiums for insurance, then when you try to use the insurance, they deny your claim. All the while the insurance companies are raking in billions of taxpayer dollars.

Hey! And let those windmill propellers fall where they may...along with all the flying wild life that was knocked out of its habitat. Such a great tax deductible effort for nothing.

Those who lament the long shutdown should now recognize the benefit in the fraud that it exposed both in healthcare and in the SNAP/EBT programs as well as the number of non-essential people on the government payrolls. Knowing that it is happening is frustrating but proving that it exists does not allow them to ignore it any longer.

Knowing the problems, but ignoring them, while enriching the 'right' people, is the Government's super power.

I keep saying this and no one seems to care. obamacare never passed congress as the law is written. A version passed the house a time or two, was amended by the senate and sent back for house approval. The version that became law was an amended version out of the senate that was never voted on by the house because pelosi was afraid she couldnt get the votes, she then DEEMED it passed.
Why in HELL the supremes didnt throw it out for that reason is just beyond me.

I did not have to read that bill to know that it was not for the benefit the American people, but for the wallets of the professional politicians

Saying that people lucky enough not to have to make any claims have health insurance policies that are "going unused" misunderstands the purpose of insurance. Insurance is supposed to be a hedge against need. If I don't have to make any claims on my home insurance I don't "have a plan that's going unused" -- I'm fortunate! One reason the premiums for Obamacare are so high is that it requires insurance companies to cover the cost of expenses that are routine and foreseeable.

I'm in my 80's now but when I was only 28 years old and working for a bank VP he had one stock phrase for anyone running for any office at any time: "If you aren't a crook, then WHY do you want to be in politics?" He was a former "federal bank examiner" and was spending his golden years sitting on the main banking floor looking wise, attending board meetings and directing traffic to the loan officers. The BEST boss I could ever have!! You should have heard what he'd say to any Teller daring to chew gum at work!

One man, John Roberts, allowed this illegal obamanation to survive. One man, John McCain, allowed it to go on life support. It's time it died.
