Forty days and nights. That’s how long the Democrats wasted your time. Forty days of grandstanding, finger-pointing, and “we care more than you” speeches. And for what? Nothing. After shutting down the government, threatening paychecks, and holding the country hostage over Obamacare subsidies, eight Senate Democrats finally blinked. They crossed the aisle and voted to reopen the government—with none of their big demands met. That’s not leadership. That’s surrender. To its everlasting shame and (one hopes) the abiding disapproval of historians for generations to come, the Biden regime weaponized the justice system against President Donald Trump, and much of the damage has yet to be undone. On Monday, Trump asked the Supreme Court to undo one of the most egregious miscarriages of justice he suffered for the crime of being the leader of the opposition against Old Joe Biden and his leftist henchmen: the civil judgment that he sexually abused the partisan fantasist E. Jean Carroll in a Bergdorf Goodman dressing room sometime in the 1990s, and subsequently defamed her in speaking about the case.
On Wednesday night, the House voted on the continuing resolution that would reopen the federal government after 43 days. The vote passed/failed by a margin of 222-209. Six Democrats voted in favor of the continuing resolutions, and two Republicans voted no. [Tweet]
This vote came after the Senate voted to end the shutdown on Monday. Before the continuing resolution vote, the House swore in Rep.-Elect Adelita Grijalva (D-Ariz.), who won a special election in September. It was the first House vote since September 19.

Last month, I reported that, despite what politicians said, Memphis residents were excited for Donald Trump to send the National Guard in to clean up their crime-ridden city. The president created a Memphis Safe Task Force, whose job was to "end street and violent crime in Memphis to the greatest possible extent." It sounds like the task force, which is comprised of federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies and authorities, has been quite successful, especially for families with young children.
The United States Marshals Service announced on Saturday that since the task force began, 101 missing children in the Memphis area have been found and returned to their homes.
Some days it feels like I ask too much of you, gentle reader, and yet here I go again, asking you to hate the mainstream media more than you already do. But I have three new reasons just this morning.

An illegal immigrant has been arrested after allegedly opening fire on Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents in Chicago over the weekend. The suspect reportedly drove by the agents in a Jeep on Saturday in the city’s Little Village neighborhood, firing several shots before speeding away during an ongoing immigration enforcement operation.
The suspect has not been identified, but is known to be a Mexican citizen and was in possession of a firearm at the time of his arrest. The suspect has a lengthy criminal record, including charges of illegal entry, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon/vehicle, and felony possession of a weapon.
In another highway operation targeting dangerous drivers, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers and Oklahoma Department of Public Safety arrested 70 foreign nationals driving on interstate highways in Oklahoma.
In two days, they arrested drivers from 15 countries – all in the U.S. illegally. The majority had driver’s licenses in violation of federal law and Oklahoma state law.
During “Operation Guardian,” ICE and DPS Highway Patrol troopers working through ICE’s 287(g) program arrested illegal foreign nationals driving semi-trucks in violation of state commercial driver’s license laws and federal immigration law.
“Operation Guardian continues to successfully keep Oklahomans safe,” Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt said.
After the initial shock wore off, it became quite clear to many of us that something nefarious was behind the Jan. 6, 2021, breach of the Capitol Complex. Things were too pat. Narratives were set and eagerly parroted by the media within hours. Buses filled with non-MAGA people were reported and verified by congressional reps. And there were "bombs" found at the Democratic National Committee and later at a club near the RNC. Impeachment talk was openly discussed.
Suddenly, questioning the obviously hinky 2020 election was a criminal act against democracy. Trump must go to jail, the left said. And then they went about trying to make that happen.

Until the time that Barack Obama took office, I had a reasonable amount of faith in the U.S. federal government. I knew that those on the Left in positions of leadership, as well as some on the Right, often concocted narratives for their own ends.
