Zohran Mamdani stunned the country with his win in the New York City mayoral race Tuesday night, defeating former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo and Republican Curtis Sliwa. Texas Gov. Greg Abbott wasted no time mourning the election results. “Join me for a moment of silence for NYC,” Abbott wrote on X, just minutes after the race was called. He also offered “thoughts and prayers” with an emoji depicting hands in prayer. Mamdani is the city’s first Muslim and first South Asian to be elected mayor, and he will be the youngest mayor of New York City in more than a century when he takes office on Jan. 1.

Far-left Democrat Zohran Mamdani has won New York City’s mayoral race — winning a mandate to move to enact his budget-busting, socialist agenda, according to preliminary projections.
The Associated Press called the race for Mamdani, 34, about 40 minutes after polls closed, and with at least a few hundred thousand votes still to be counted.
Mamdani carried 50.4% of votes to Andrew Cuomo’s 41.3% at around 9:40 p.m. The projection — which came with 75% of votes counted — also found GOP nominee Curtis Sliwa with rock-bottom 7.5%. The Uganda-born Mamdani will be the Big Apple’s first Muslim and first socialist mayor, as well as one of the youngest.

In times of national emergency, should the Supreme Court dictate America's grand strategy and international economic policies?
This question confronts the justices this week in Learning Resources v. Trump, a case that puts the president's tariff powers to the test.
If President Donald Trump loses, the Treasury faces having to refund more than $100 billion in tariff revenue, and the president's trade strategy will be thrown into chaos.
Businesses that have already changed their operations because of the tariffs, drawing jobs and supply chains back to America, will be subject to grave new uncertainties:

One of the more noxious aspects of Zohran Mamdani’s campaign to be mayor of New York City is the reappearance of Linda Sarsour, the far-left, oxymoronically hijab-wearing “feminist” activist who rocketed to international fame some years ago as the hate-filled face of the leftist/Islamic alliance, glossing over the human rights abuses of Sharia and demonizing Israel with extravagant false claims long before doing so became the left’s favorite pastime. As it turns out, Sarsour has not been enjoying a comfortable, Soros-financed retirement; she has been working on what she calls “the quiet side” of the Mamdani campaign.
Quiet side or not, however, Sarsour has been loquacious of late,

Let me start by saying I have no idea why anyone still takes David Hogg seriously. Apparently, the left hasn’t gotten the memo that this guy is a self-serving charlatan and a brazen grifter who’s been exposed time and again. Even Democrats figured him out; they threw him overboard as vice chair of the Democratic National Committee. The DNC officially blamed some diversity quota nonsense, but everyone knows the real reason: he was shamelessly using the position to line his own PAC’s pockets. Yet somehow CNN still thought it was a good idea to trot him out on NewsNight Monday as a panelist, where he proceeded to embarrass himself spectacularly

The coalition government of center-right Christian Democrats and Christian Social Union (CDU/CSU) and center-left Social Democrats (SPD), which has been in office since May 2025, is aiming to significantly increase the number of people who have been ordered to leave the country in the campaign they are calling a "repatriation offensive." However, the political and media debate has tended to focus on a different word: deportations.
The dispute over deportations to Syria, a country devastated by a long civil war, shows just how difficult this undertaking is — and just how divergent opinions are, even among the government's two conservative Christian parties.

The Vatican’s doctrinal office said Tuesday the titles of “Co-Redemptrix” and “Mediatrix” are not appropriate ways to describe Mary’s participation in salvation.
In “Mater Populi Fidelis” (“The Mother of the Faithful People of God”), the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith (DDF) said when an expression requires frequent explanation to maintain the correct meaning, it becomes unhelpful.
“In this case, the expression ‘Co-redemptrix’ does not help extol Mary as the first and foremost collaborator in the work of Redemption and grace, for it carries the risk of eclipsing the exclusive role of Jesus Christ,” according to the doctrinal note, released Nov. 4.

Maybe now they’ll listen.
For roughly the past twenty-five years, I’ve been warning conservatives to not get careless when practicing journalism. Yes, it was fine to discover charismatic stars like Candace Owens and Ben Shapiro, but if the right wanted to build a competitor to the corrupt mainstream media there had to be ethical guardrails. If we were sloppy our work would not be considered credible. We might even wind up looking like fools.
I was ignored, so now comes the hangover. The controversy about Tucker Carlson interviewing Nick Fuentes and about Candace Owens pushing conspiracy theories is essentially a problem of journalistic ethics.

He said more or less what critics like Bjorn Lomborg have been saying for a long time: sure, increased levels of carbon dioxide will tend to increase global temperatures to some extent. But the increase will be modest and will not have catastrophic consequences. Rather than impoverish the world in a futile attempt to control the weather, we should focus on human well-being, which relies more than anything else on affordable energy.
You might think that such a moderate, sensible approach would meet with nothing but praise. But no: climate alarmists went crazy,

With Zohran Mamdani’s ascension in New York City, Bernie Sanders nearly capturing the Democrat presidential nomination in 2016 and 2020, and the rapidly expanding number of Marxist-indoctrinated candidates and elected officials, socialism—or its latest euphemism, “Democratic Socialism”—is now the dominant philosophical underpinning of the Democrat party. Former US Vice President Dick Cheney who was a leading advocate for the invasion of Iraq has died at the age of 84, his family has said. The hard-charging conservative passed away last night due to complications of pneumonia and cardiac and vascular disease. Cheney served alongside Republican President George W Bush for two terms between 2001 and 2009. He was the chief architect of the 'war on terror' and was in office on the morning of 9/11.
